As a matter of course I always wrap the point where the cable exits and a little of the cable with self amalgamating rubber tape for a little more protection as it's where most triggers - even expensive ones - seem to give up first.

If you Canon has an E3 socket (read your instruction book to find out). This item works with my Pentax K-50 which has a similar socket. I am not familiar with a Canon model T7. From T7 specifications "Extension System Terminal: Remote Switch RS-60E3 Terminal." Based on my gogle search it looks like it will work with a Canon T7

First read your Canon EOS m6 camera manual: "Remote Switch RS-60E3 ● Enables remote shutter button operation (pressing the button halfway or all the way down).", then read the description of the article "COMPATIBILITY: "RS-60E3 Wired Remote Control Switch Cord". Now all you have to do is decide if RS-60E3 is EQUAL to RS-60E3.
Just read and you will know the answer.
