and just as sturdy as you will find on any good cable

As others have noted, this is a DVI-D (dual link) cable which supports higher resolutions that a standard single link DVI cable. These cables are well made, and just as sturdy as you will find on any good cable. The shielding is high quality, the connectors are snug and it does not stick out more than it has to. The cord will wrap, bend, twist easily as well, which is something often overlooked as most cables with thick shielding are too stiff to manipulate.
Do not waste your money going out to the chain stores and spending a ton of money on big name brand cables that have more money in their packaging than their product (looking at you monster products). I have used the AmazonBasics brand for so many things. These cables, HDMI cables, indoor antennae (comparable to the mohu leaf), and surge protectors as well as anything else Ive seen the Amazon brand on. They will work just as good if not better, and cost a lot less. Sure, there are cable manufacturers that can get you the same cable, cheaper, but you will be hard pressed to find one that is cheaper that also has a good return policy, and that will get it to you with free 2 day shipping. The packaging on these are what they should be with a cable. A small, simple, cardboard box that the cable fits in perfectly. Not some hard to open, thick, plastic, clamshell case covered in graphics that cost more than the actual cable and are a pain to open.

Good cable, much better color saturation than HDMI
Verified Purchase
Got this cable because my new graphics card doesn't have a VGA port. After plugging it in I noticed the color saturation was actually significantly better than my other monitor which was the exact same model, just plugged in with HDMI instead. Is the difference due to the DVI standard and not this specific cable? Sure, probably, but for $9 to get this color quality I'm happy.

Monitors in the picture are both Acer H6 Series H226HQLbid with equal settings. On the left is plugged in with HDMI, on the right is plugged in with this DVI cable.

This Cable Provides the Basics - But What More Do You Need?
Verified Purchase
This AmazonBasics DVI to DVI cable is a perfect replacement for the DVI cable that came with your monitor but was slightly too short - or for adding another monitor when you may have misplaced your original DVI cable. Keep in mind that this is a DVI-D cable, not DVI-I - so it can only send out a digital signal.

I have used this on both a Windows-based PC as well as a Macbook (I connected it to a Thunderbolt port via a DVI-D to Thunderport adapter) and it has worked flawlessly on both! I have been using this cable for about 6 months now and have absolutely no complaints about the durability or performance.

This cable is just as good as, if not better than, a similar DVI to DVI cable that you may find at your local brick-and-mortar electronics shop - but this one is likely half the price. I strongly recommend this cable should you have any need to connect two devices together via DVI-D ports.

Works like a charm

This cable was exactly what I needed. I wanted to use my existing monitor (which I love) with a new windows 10 desktop I purchased. Due to my own oversight, I hadn't realized that the new PC did not support VGA. However, I noticed that the computer and my old monitor had a DVI port. So I purchased this cable and was very happy that it worked perfectly. This cable not only saved me the cost of purchasing a new monitor, but I was really happy that I could keep my old monitor that is still in excellent condition. Also, the cables were delivered as promised, despite the inclement weather. Amazon really came through on this for me. I would highly recommend this product.

I ordered a cable. I got a cable.

perty gud. this dual-link DVI cable is a DVI cable. i connected my 1080p monitor to my pc with it. the picture quality is the same as before, so it's a good cable. i also appreciate the length (huhuh). i could barely move my pc (for maintenance) with the old one, but this one is more than enough. feels sturdy, but i haven't used it for long or done any tests with it. it's a cable. it sits there being a cable. good enough for me.
fyi, this should work in most DVI ports. the only issue that could arise is if the device is so old that it only accepts a single-link cable. single-link cables are almost identical except for the extra pins in the center of the connectors. that has not been an issue for me, though.
g'day, stranger.

Rare instance where the cheap price does not necessarily equal worser quality.

Has worked real well thus far with no issues in terms of picture quality since it's purchase in 2018. I suppose this is those rare instances where the cheaper the price does not become reflected doing what it's suppose to do that being providing picture clarity and quality.

I visited a blog site to inquire about building a PC. With his help I was able to and he informed me when asking about picture quality that there's no different between a DVI and HDMI, Whether or not that's still true or not I can say that this DVI is way better than VGA, I think that's what's called.

Works exactly as it should!

I ordered this cable last year but am only now reviewing it because I am using it right now. I ordered this cable to connect my R9 380 Nitro to my  Acer R240HY bidx 23.8-Inch IPS HDMI DVI VGA (1920 x 1080) Widescreen Display  which I only acquired recently also. Before today, I was using an old Samsung monitor with a VGA connection. Anyway, back to the review. The packaging came frustration free as advertised. It is very thick and my monitor recognized it instantly. No problems here whatsoever. I am currently using a resolution of 1920x1080 and it works perfectly. The quality of this cable makes me want to order their HDMI one and see how it performs as well.

I am not adding pictures because the pictures in the product description are 100% accurate.

I bought it for my new computer and it works well as expected.

This one is working fine

I have been using this one for over 6 weeks now with no issues. The cable fits securely and its length allows me to run my monitors at a decent distance from the CPU unit. The cable is comfortably flexible for its size.

The first cable had issues and would cause the screen to get frequency disruption lines from time to time. The fix was to touch the cable. I eventually figured out the issue was within one foot of one end... flip the cable around and the issue went with it to the other end. Amazon took care of it right away and I have had no issues since.

It gave me better picture quality than when connected through standard HDMI cable
Verified Purchase
This worked perfectly for my computer's LG W2453v 1080p monitor through a GTX 960 4GB video card. It gave me better picture quality than when connected through standard HDMI cable, due to a bug in the video driver, which previously handled my monitor as an HDTV rather than a PC monitor. This limited my color range and showed some color banding on my screen. As soon as I changed the cable out to this new DVI cable, the screen issues were gone. :)
The cable feels durable. Basically your typical DVI cable with thick insulation tubing.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:what type of DVI is this cable?
Answer:According to the product photo, the connector shows the pin count/layout for DVI dual link (DVI single link has fewer pins/connectors), but the product description says "providing enough bandwidth for 2560x1080 transmission". This means that either the product description contains a typo (really meant x1600, not x1080), or that the product is an inferior product that does not support the bandwidth needed for full 2560x1600 resolution that one would expect from a DVI dual link cable.

Question:Is this a dvi d cable or dvi i?
Answer:It's my belief that this is a dvi d cable that works great on my HP computer with a W2371d monitor.

Question:Is this a dual link DVI cable?
Answer:According to the pin diagram on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface, this is a DVI-D dual link cable.

Question:When i converted my tv from dvi to hdmi, i have no sound. what can i do for sound?
Answer:Must be in your TV settings. The HDMI cable has both HD video and stereo sound.

Question:Tiene audio este cable
Answer:Ningún DVI tiene audio, si quieres un cable para transmitir audio y video compra el cable HDMI

Question:can i used a dvi d to dvi d cable (dual link) to a dvi i (dual link) connector (graphics card)?
Answer:Yes, you can use a DVI-D cable in a female DVI-I port, but not a DVI-I cable in a DVI-D female port.

Question:what are these wires used for exactly? i remember being told to need one but i forgot
Answer:These are also used with some cable boxes.

Question:Will this work with a Hp monitor?
Answer:I guess that would depend on the model of HP monitor. We used it to hook up to an HP monitor, a 17" flatscreen. Not sure about model number would have to look. But I would think it will work on any monitor that has a DVI hookup.

Question:Will this allow my monitor to run at 75hz ?
Answer:This cable is not dvi-d, so it caps at 1080p60. Even if you had a 60hz+ 1080p monitor, it would run at 60hz.

Question:Will switching from an hdmi to this fix my horrible anti-aliasing issues? edges break up in all games i play, yet i have perfect fps and low ping.
Answer:I am not sure, but it is not that expensive to try. But it does seem like it is a configuration problem or your monitor may not have a high enough refresh rate to keep up with your gpu. That would be what I would look into before trying this cable. Not really sure but hdmi may not send your video signal as fast or as well as the dvi cable, another thing to look into. Best of luck solving the problem.
