Good, Extendable I.R. Repeater
Verified Purchase
I'm used to using the Snap A/V units from work (a/v integration company), but this was cheaper than our cost on those units. I extended this unit from my media rack to my 3 tv's after purchasing 2 additional I.R. eyes, and extended them using BAFX's Cat-5 extender kit. This added about $42 to the cost of a $27 unit, but i could have saved half of the extra cost by cutting the I.R. eyes' cables to extend over Cat-5 with Dolphin connectors. I prefer the cleaner look. I only have a blu-ray player and Denon reciever on this repeater, both working as expected. Only notable thing is to know that if the (presumably intentionally very bright) blue light is constantly illuminated on the main unit it means there is an input fault, in my case one of the wire pairs on my Cat-5 extension cable were shorting. I had to replace an RJ-45 tip at one tv to regain functionality.

Included is a photo of the main unit (only 2 of my inputs installed, 1 output) and one of the IR repeaters on a blu-ray player over the IR reciever.

Amazing. I am an installer and have been paying three times the amount of money on this exact product from Xantech, Calrad, Channel Vision (all great products). This package had everything I needed. Actually it had way to much. I didn't need all of the 6 dual emitters. Thanks to this company for not holding back and giving us installers all the parts in one box. And they all work:) LOVED it. SHipping A+

Great Unit. Works Everytime!
Verified Purchase
We have used this in many A/V installations for clients. It always works and comes with plenty of blasters. If you have components in a closet or cabinet and use an IR remote control, you can't go wrong with this unit.

You need to have the remote senor in an open area with line of site to your remote control and may need to splice extra 3-conductor cable (any CAT cable will do), so it's a good idea to know how far away from the receiver you will be placing the hub and deciding if you are up to the task of splicing cable. If not, try to order a compatible IR receiver with a longer cord.

Easy to setup and works very well
Verified Purchase
I turned my basement living room area into a home theater and one of my goals was to hide the cable box, blu-ray, etc. I used this so that I could just have one cord running through the wall to still be able to use the remote controls. I really like the new setup as it is really clean. The hardest part was finding where the sensor was on my blu ray/surround sound system but once I found that, it was really easy and the remote repeater works every time. Setup just included plugging in the main receiver cable and the subsequent cables that go on the boxes themselves and plugging it in. Probably 5-10 minutes all in. Also mounts to the wall very easily.

This works. It just works. Sensor works at 30+ feet in my open plan house. Skip the others and just buy this!

Perfect quality product that does hat it says and does it well.

I installed this to repeat IR in an new in-cabinet A/V installation with the TV on top. The equipment ist inside on a full extension shelf. The sensor cable is long enough to go to the TV on top/front, through a hole in the cabinet back, and to the repeater on the back of the shelf even at full extension. The repeater cables are about 6' long.

The couch in the rectangular room is about 14' back from the TV and the sensor attached to it. I bought a 2nd sensor (which this will accomodate) figuring I'd need it to go to the kitchen about 30' back. I ran repeater wire for it in the wall. Well I'm happy to say the single sensor will work all the way from the kitchen! So I have an extra sensor. For what? Well it was a pleasant surprise. So I'd suggest unless you've got to work around some obstacles that would block the IR (and couldn't say put the sensor maybe on top or side etc).

The emitters are dual output. This may seem fine - and often it is - and you can zip more of a split if you want. To me I'd rather had 6 to 8 single emitters rather than any dual. The reason is now whatever two pieces of equipment are bonded together by the leads. Kind of OK once you're set - but still can be a pita.

Pros:
- Works. Just works.
- Sensor range 30-35' in my room - with LED and incandescent light and nothing overtly blocking the path.
- Plenty of inputs and outputs.
- Mountable (I'm using industrial velcro to the back top of the equipment pull out shelf.

Cons:
- Personal preference or single emitters although with HDMI control I ended up using a "double" for the couple of devices and left the 2nd emitter angle.

Outstanding Device, Easy to install. Strong signal repeating
Verified Purchase
This is an outstanding device. I replaced an older generation repeater, that was connected to a Universal Remote, and in comparison, this was flawless. It set up easily, and repeated my IR sensor to a hidden cabinet flawlessly. The bonus was that the repeated signal in the hidden cabinet was extremely strong, which meant that I did not have to hunt for the IR sensor on the front of the AV Receiver, or Blue Ray recorder.

Great product at a great price - I would recommend.

Been using for about a week and it's been great. Extremely easy to setup and, so far, is working as expected.

Couple of thoughts:
Be sure all cords are firmly installed into the control block - ensure you hear a click.
Range: has been great but will be affected by where you put the receiver.
They provide a solid number of IR blasters, probably more than enough for most setups.

Mine is working fine with my Sony TV (Power On/Off) & Onkyo receiver with no issues. I still use my Xfinity remote b/c it's RF and is the voice remote which works great. Otherwise a great IR Repeater setup at a very low cost.

Took a little bit of time to dial in, so have some patience. But I highly recommend using masking/painters tape between on the IR repeater and receiver if you are having trouble with a specific device (mine was the cable box). Also keep in mind the receiver can have problems with Plasma TV's, but by moving it around I was able to find a place that allows me to have the sensor to where I can still point the remote at the tv, but not encounter interference. Overall great product for the price, was able to extend the IR receiver with standard cables and stow away all of my media center components in a closet allowing for a very clean look.

Solved a problem with our cable box
Verified Purchase
I just hooked it up so I don't know how long it will last but it worked great right out of the box. It was easy to install once the wires were run behind the equipment. That's a headache no matter what. It sure solved a problem that we were having with our cable box, For some reason the cable box received it's IR commands at a very small window or angle. You basically had to be one spot in the room for the remote to work. Not any more. The remote works everywhere with this repeater. I wish I had purchased it long ago. In the future I plan on installing it in an entertainment center so I also purchased the other available receiver. It worked great too.

Have has it a while and came up with one easily fixed problem. The emitter fell off the DVR/cable box. I ended up cleaning the DVR's IR receiver with rubbing alcohol and reattached the same emitter. That did it so clean the surface before you attach the emitter.

Worked great..
Verified Purchase
Worked great...just what I needed for my motorhome! As some have stated the 3M sticky pieces aren't perfect but I think its do to the small sizes needed for the small components. At least they give you extras. Plus I just used double sided velcro (with sticky backing) and it works awesome. I feel bad because I left not so great seller feedback due to it arriving very late but turns out it was the fault of Amazon, NOT the seller. Seller actually turned out to be very concerned for our satisfaction so for that, as well as a great product, thank you BAFX Products!!

Custom Questions & answers

Question:What is the length of the receiver cable?
Answer:The receiver cable length is about 5 feet. You can buy a CAT5 extender setup which allows you to go much further here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016VEFI00/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_GsokEbPHY5B42

Question:Can anyone say with certainty this WILL work with directv dvr and directv genie plus other components? Seems there are several conflicting opinions!
Answer:I have this BAFX Repeater, and I also have the DTV HR54-700 satellite box.
The repeater does NOT work at ALL with this satellite box.
The IR signals come from my Philips Pronto TSU7000 - AND the repeater works FINE with all other connected devices
Such as my Sharp Aquos TV, the LED Bias Lighting module on the back of that, a Denon receiver, RCA receiver, and a Philips DVD player
The Pronto works intermittently with the satellite box by itself - as long as it is NOT too close to the satellite box
As soon as I put the BAFX emitter over the IR receiver window - - IR stops working. I've put up to 6 layers of painters tape over the window - - NOTHING.
And Yes - - I have verified (watching with a digital camera: NOT an iPhone) - the emitter sends an IR signal when the BAFX system receives one.
-
SO - - My thoughts: DTV may be using a different IR light wavelength than what is transmitted by the BAFX.
The question of course is - - WHY would DTV do that ?? Answer is ea$y to figure out. It's $o you can't u$e an all-in-one remote - - you have to RENT one of their$

Question:This item can work with my logitech harmony one remote?
Answer:Yes. The way this system is designed it will basically pick up any remote using IR technology, which is what the Logitech remote uses.
Cheers!

Question:I currently require two remotes to control all my audio/TV equipment. I cannot get them all onto one master remote. Do I need two systems?
Answer:No you do not need two systems. This unit simply relays IR signal(s) sent from any remote to your devices hidden away. You stick one of the four IR blasters coming out of the unit on the IR eye of each of your devices and the IR receiver on the edge of your TV. Then you point any remote at TV and press button. The signal will leave your remote to the IR receiver and through the cord the unit. From there the unit will replay the signal to all 4 IR blasters that are placed on the IR eyes of your devices (STB, DVD, AV Receiver, etc...)

Question:I have an Onkyo receiver with a broken infrared sensor. Could I hook this up to the 3.5mm IR jack on rear of the Onkyo instead of included emitter?
Answer:Yes, it works well that way with my TX-NR838.

Question:Can i use multiple receivers placed around my tv to make the remote aiming a little more forgiving? where do i get the additional receivers?
Answer:Hi there,

I am with BAFX Products.

Doing this may actually make the kit work worse in many cases. This is becuase if you have two IR receivers both picking up some of the IR signal from the remote control at the same time, you are then in essence sending TWO IR signals to the device being controlled. When this happens, with some devices, it can cause the end device to become confused and thus not respond.

However if you wish to purchase one to try and see if ti works for your particular device, you can do so here: www.amazon.com/dp/B00BOUOUTW

Question:Does anyone know for sure if this repeater works with the samsung smt-c5320 cable box? My current repeater system does not.
Answer:Hi Jeff!
I am with BAFX Products Support.
I can confirm for you that our repeater DOES work with this cable box! We have tested this box ourselves and know all about it! The emitter placement for this device will be with the emitter over the small circle that is just to the right of the power button on the face of the device.
If you purchase our kit and have ANY troubles getting it up and running with this, or any other device, please do reach out to us!

Question:Does this not work with all marantz devices? i have a nr1403 receiver, and just want to make sure.
Answer:Mr. A It bothered me that I could not give you a positive answer about the IR repeater. I have a Marantz av7005 high end pre-amp. I tried the repeater with it last night an it worked perfectly. I thing you will have no problems using the repeater with your nr1403.

Question:what type usb cable do i need to power this device? Type N H or M are the options of the startech 3ft cable on amazon.
Answer:Hello Enzo,
I am with BAFX Products Support and will be answering your question today!
For our IR Repeater kits, you will simply need a standard USB printer cable to power the device. This will then allow you to plug the USB cord into any power adapter, then into a wall plug. Or you can plug into a USB port on a device that supplies power.
Please do note that the repeater kit DOES come with a standard wall power adapter.
If you have any other questions about our product, please feel free to email us!
Thank you,
BAFX Products Support

Question:Why doesn't this work with Marantz products?
Answer:Hi Patrick -
I am with BAFX Products Support.
For some reason the IR coding that Marantz uses is extremely difficult to work with. At this time we have not been able to make the kit work consistently with their devices. You may find some Marantz devices where a few buttons on the remote may work with our kit but other buttons don't and you may find some Maraztz devices where it will not work at all.
Until we can get the kit to pass the Marantz IR signal properly we will continue to list it as incompatible with our repeater kit.
This is something we are working on and hope to resolve soon but we do not have a date for this resolution yet.
Regards,
BAFX Products Support
