When it needs to work!

I'm using this cable to connect a PTZOptics camera to a Blackmagic Designs ATEM thru a Blackmagic SDI to HTMI converter. I wanted a quality cable as this was an all day install thru concrete floors and inaccessible existing 1/2" conduit, but needed to be reasonably priced as it was for a church. This cable fits that requirement perfectly. The cable and connectors used are exactly what was advertised, and I'm getting beautiful clear images that get a lot of wows from the tech team, even though the install is in a noisy electronic environment. I will be making future purchases from Blue Jeans Cable.

Good to the last foot.

I have this 150' cable on the receiving end of a Excelvan HDMI to SDI Converter  Excelvan HDMI to SDI Converter Scaler Adapter 1080P 1080I 720P 576I 480P MINI 3G with Coaxial Audio Output for Home Theater Cinema PC HD (Black)  which is linked to 25' of HDMI cable to my Panasonic AG AC-90 cameras (three on a switcher setup with these Blue Jeans SDI cables).
Anyhow, I've compared video quality (by eye only, not scope, on the switcher PGM monitors) between a 50' SDI cable and the 150' and cannot see a difference, even with low-light test shots.

Good Cable

This cable worked perfectly for my application. This cable is not very flexible, so plan your bends to have at least a 4" radius. I thought I might need a BNC right-angle adapter, but I worked it out so I didn't need it. Although this cable is probably better shielded (because it is less flexible), I noticed the electrical specifications of Belden 1694A is virtually identical to RG-6 CATV cable.

Ran SDI/1080i HD for full 200 foot length with no issues. Solid construction.

This cable was tough enough to take major pulling as well as tight turns. No kinks developed and the connectors at the ends are very solid. To get the cable through one really tight spot we had to cut off one of the connectors, pull the cable through, and then re-terminate the cable, so I was able to see the cable's internal construction. It was well shielded and the new termination worked the first time.

Fully functional SDI cable

Does the job getting SDI video from the camera to the video converter, needed the white to blend in and this does the trick.

This is a great SDI cable

This is a great SDI cable. Used it on a video shoot running signal from a DSLR camera using a HDMI to SDI converter and it worked perfect. I love the fact that the connector is easy to grip when it comes to removing the cable.

Just what I needed!

I'm new to using "pro-gear" so I thought I could get away with going cheaper with HDMI->Cat6 converters, and when that didn't work, just using the cheapy BNC cables from Monoprice. Neither one worked and after having a duh moment and doing 40 seconds of research finding that HD-SDI is such high-bandwidth that longer BNC cables need to be specialized for the task.

These work and are guaranteed to work, plus they come in cheaper than the competitors at ~80 cents a foot. Plus they come with a big velcro strap.

Only complaint, which isn't too much of one, is that they are fairly stiff in their construction.

Good cable, great connector

Working great so far. I love the connector, with the extra grip that makes connecting and disconnecting from certain cameras MUCH easier.

Question & Answer

Question :

No one is addressing wether this cable can actually do 6G. has anyone tested dual connect 4K signal on these?

Answer :

The cable we use is Belden 1694A -- while there still isn't a proper spec for 6G as yet, Belden's engineering lab has tested 1694A out on some basis or other for 6G, and found that 1694A handled 6G out to 347 feet in a single-link configuration, and 512 feet in a dual-link. We have had no reports of trouble from users with 6G.
Thanks,
Kurt

Question :

Can I use this cable over 70meters long for 1080p25 signal?

Answer :

Belden rates this cable for 78 meters at 3G. 1080p25 is somewhere at or under 1.5G, and the cable is rated for 113 meters at 1.5G. So, yes. It should work fine at 70 meters for 1080p25.

Question :

Hello, Is it kay for sony pwm-ex1 (professional video camera/ full hd /and/ hd / sd image mixing console datavideo se-1000. best regards, basir ahmadi

Answer :

Yes, absolutely. This is one of Belden's principal SDI cable offerings and is good for anything up to 6G SDI. If you need 12G, then we recommend the 12G version, which we also carry here on Amazon, 4694R. You can find that here:

Question :

Can i know about the wire's gage

Answer :

The center conductor is 18 AWG solid.

Question :

Can this sdi cable be used for timecode in/out connections? (to connect a canon xf705 to a zoom f4, for example)

Answer :

Timecode cables ordinarily are simply 75 ohm video cables, so yes, if both devices that you need to connect have female BNC connections, this should work fine.

Question :

Is this cable terminated?

Answer :

Yes. It has Canare male BNCs on both ends.

Question :

Can these cables be joined end to end so that, for example, if you needed a 50 ft cable you could join two 25ft cables?

Answer :

Yes, with a coupler. The cables are male-to-male so will not join up directly.

Question :

It is not specified whether it is rg-59 or rg-6. please clarify.

Answer :

This is Belden 1694A, an RG-6 sized cable.

Thanks,

Kurt

Question :

Any idea the maximum length to be able to run these cables? can you connect 2 or 3 together if I needed 200-300 ft?

Answer :

Maximum length depends on the data rate and also on the particular SMPTE standard being employed. Belden publishes a distance chart for this. At 6G they say it'll go 340 feet, but under at least some of the 3G standards it actually is only said to go 255.

Question :

Can i use it with blackmagic design decklink quad 2 8-channel 3g-sdi capture and playback card, 720p/1080p cross-conversion?

Answer :

As long as the equipment uses BNC connectors, yes. I'm not familiar with the jackfield on that particular device, but BNCs are the usual method of connecting SDI and this will handle 3G or 6G SDI.
