★★★★★ | Great little item that completely solves a problem | Verified Purchase | First, be aware that this item ships from overseas, so it will take a fair amount of time to reach you in the States. In my case, three weeks.
Second, this product is necessary, and works very well for its intended purpose.
I have a few solar watches. I am careful not to put them in a closed, dark drawer, and leave them out so that they can charge by the light of the room. For the most part, this has worked reasonably well.
Then I bought a high-end watch, with a large internal battery, and I found that a little exposure to room light wasn't cutting it. I tried leaving it in the bathroom with all the lights on full, and after a week, it hardly made a dent. Even worse, a little research revealed that with this particular watch, if it ever runs completely out of power it has to be sent in for servicing. (Yeah, I don't like that either, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't mentioned in the brochure.)
I go on Amazon, and find this little puppy. I ordered it, and when it (eventually) came, I plugged it in and put my watch face down on its rubber surface. Two days later, the giant battery showed half-full, which is a miracle, because a week in the bathroom didn't achieve that. A day or two later, and it was full.
No heat, lots of light that solar panels can effectively use, doesn't use much power, silent, won't scratch your watch, and relatively inexpensive.
What's not to like?
Seriously, if you are on the fence, just buy it. They could make it nicer, by putting it in a wooden case, adding fabric accents, a monogram, whatever. But, the basic functionality is there, and that's really all you need.
Recommended.
Sean Logue, 2015 | | ★★★★★ | Use with EITHER batteries OR USB---NOT BOTH!!! | Verified Purchase | I really hate it when reviewers flame a product unnecessarily. Here is the actual operating temperature of this device when plugged into a USB port with NO BATTERIES INSTALLED. Alkaline batteries ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE AND MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE attempting to utilize USB power. As you can see the led array is well below body temperature during normal operation. Solar-assisted watches are a great idea ONLY if you spend enough time in the sun. If you spend the majority of your time indoors under weak artificial lighting it is highly likely that there will not be enough solar energy to charge the watch battery resulting in a dead watch. This device allows you to easily maintain your solar-assisted watch at peak performance with minimal effort. If you own a solar-assisted G-Shock like mine, you know just how difficult it is to charge the battery to "H". This level of charge was attained after only 2-3 hours on the charger... | | ★★★★★ | FANTASTIC DEVICE THAT REALLY WORKS | Verified Purchase | Fantastic. Works like a charm if you give it sometime. Had been told by watch repair stores when solar in drawer batteries sometimes died if wouldn't work when brought out in open. Had replaced at least 4 solar batteries at about $40.00 per. Was alerted to this product and purchased it. Recently had relatively new watches die (2), one a Citizen and one a Seiko.
Was told by reputable watch dealer that batteries likely needed replacement. Used this device and both watches came back to life after about 24 hours and have been working fine. Tried it on 2 other Citizen's dead for along time and WOW, back to life and working great.
This is not only a wonderful gadget but it actually works and has saved me at least $160.00 in unnecessary battery replacements. Wish i had it before when wasted money.
Try it and you will love it. I have 2 now. !!!!! | | ★★★★★ | I am going to let it charge for at least a day just to get a full charge but I'd say this is a great product and highly recommen | Verified Purchase | I just received this item. I bought it because I've tried everything to charge my Gshock Steel series watch. I couldn't get it to charge enough to even set the time. I set this light up and placed my watch on it and with in an hour I was able to aleast set the time. I'm truly impressed with it. I am going to let it charge for at least a day just to get a full charge but I'd say this is a great product and highly recommended it | | ★★★★★ | Great product for geeky watch lovers! | Verified Purchase | I love watches. I also hate buying batteries.
Therefore, I resolved to only buy kinetic or solar timepieces.
Now, years later I have two kinetic watches and a dual watch winder.
But.......my six solar watches presented a challenge. Rotate wear, put in window, etc. Still unsure they were all fully energized. This simple device and a once a month charging routine --- problem solved.
Clever, simple and relatively inexpensive.
Recommended for gift giving, or yourself! | | ★★★★★ | Small but powerful | Verified Purchase | I had a old watch probably 10 years old at this point and the battery just didn't seem to full charge anymore even in a window for a few days. With this charger I was able to get full charges on my watch in only a few hours and the stand is just sturdy enough to easily hold the watch in place. It does only come with a USB charger cord so I just plug it into my computer and it works fine. Also has a spot for optional wall plug or can run on batteries too if I wanted it to be portable. | | ★★★★★ | Great for short, cold winter days | Verified Purchase | I've seen reviewers criticize anyone who buys a solar watch charger. "Use the sun. It's free!" they say. What they fail to understand is that the usefulness of the CoolFire Solar Watch Fast Charger depends on where you live. For example, I live in an area of the country where winters are long and harsh and the days are short and often cloudy. Sometimes we go for a week or more with our daily high temperatures below zero (F).
This means that for several months, you're wearing long-sleeved shirts and you don't want to leave an expensive watch on a window sill where it will be exposed to cold temps for long periods of time. I own three solar watches -- two Citizen Eco Drives and a Casio G-Shock. Keeping all three charged during the winter when daylight is at a minimum can be a challenge. That's why I bought the CoolFire solar watch charger. I regularly rotate my watches, leaving them on the charger for two or three days at a time. I never have to worry about them running down in the winter.
If you live in a location where it doesn't get too cold and sunshine is abundant, you probably don't need the CoolFire solar watch changer. But if you're like me and own multiple solar watches, live where winters are very cold, days are short and sunshine is limited, then the CoolFire charger is a worthwhile investment. | | ★★★★★ | Must-Have for a Solar-Charge Watch | Verified Purchase | Casio Solar, Citizen Eco Drive, Seiko Solar Watch Charger! CoolFire Professional Solar Watch Charger I wish I had researched this when I bought my watch several years ago. It must have never been fully charged from the time it was shipped. It seemed like it was always showing a medium or low charge in the winter - or if my sleeve covered it for a day. I compensated. I kept my sleeve above the watch, I sat it in the window in full sunshine. In the summer it typically showed a full charge after a day outside but it just didn't last.
CoolFire to the rescue! On the day I received it, I sat my watch on it overnight. It didn't synchronize the time (I usually set it on a brass lamp that seems to act like a receiving antenna.) but in the morning it showed a full charge. Being a bit skeptical, I charged it overnight the next night as well. I haven't used the CoolFire again and my watch is still showing a full charge. I haven't worried about my sleeves. It does the trick! I have the CoolFire in a standby-ready state in the nightstand drawer.
The charger comes with two adapters to fit the watch face size. The large one worked fine with mine. I positioned it near my bed and was not bothered at all by a very minimal light leak which I was able to "aim" away from me. The only negative I not is that it only comes with a USB power cord. You must supply the outlet adapter or plug it into a computer USB port.
The picture shows my typical charge state post-summer - sometimes lower as summer fades farther into the past. | | ★★★★★ | Very effective charging | Verified Purchase | For charging the solar watches, I was using an old LED flashlight or just leave the watch under sunshine. Either way, the watch was heated up and concerned about the damages.
Now this small product is unexpectedly working well. It charges my Casio watches very effectively, my Casio never charged in full due to the smartphone link app, but CoolFire made it within 24 hrs. (see my screen shot) Also, the temperature is always under 100F / 40C after 24 hrs charging.
This is a perfect gift who has a solar watch, so I ordered another one for my friend. | | ★★★★★ | Excessive, but worth the full charge | Verified Purchase | I understand that having a light to power your solar powered watch isn’t the most necessary. But... I got a gshock gw9400 the other day as an early Christmas present to myself.. it came on medium battery.. which is fine I assumed it wouldn’t be fully charged or charged at all. However, it was bothering me and because it’s 20-30 degrees out everyday where I am at right now, getting ample direct sunlight to get it fully charged relatively quickly was not going to happen wearing jacket or sweatshirt all the time. So I wanted a quick fix and this did just that in 4-5 hours. Couldn’t be happier and hope I never need it again.. though I’ll hang on to it in case I do. | | See more reviews |
