★★★★★ | The ONLY product I use | Verified Purchase | I’ve been using Caig products for 20 years. I’ve revived expensive flashlights, florescent tube terminals and many other electronics with the red cleaner, then followed by the Gold contact protector. You can skip the Red cleaner if your coating a brand new item. You just use the gold to coat the contacts and even the batteries, especially the new expensive ones coming on the market. I recommend every product Caig makes. | | ★★★★★ | Great value, Lives up to it's reputation. | Verified Purchase | This is the best value for the product. Nice little kit. I cleaned all the pins on my tubes, all the sockets for the tubes, my power cords, speaker wire connections, and interconnect connections. And I only used a fraction, maybe 1/8 of the two bottles. Everything was much more dirty than expected. I was surprised at how much dirt and tarnish had accumulated. When finished, it cleaned up the sound a bit. | | ★★★★★ | Very good product | Verified Purchase | I have a 15 year old boat with a lot of electrical issues at plugs and switches. I went through the entire boats electronics cleaning the oxidation and treating the metal which solved all of my electrical issues. The small brushes included helps you get into plugs and switches. | | ★★★★★ | I put this stuff on everything | Verified Purchase | I purchased this for cleaning connections on receivers & other audio components & cables but instead I brought it to work have been using it on auto repair were terminal fretting causes intermittent faults. Works great on air bag connectors as well, best contact cleaner/ restorer I have used. 1000% recommend | | ★★★★★ | It works ! | Verified Purchase | I noticed the highs on the right side of my stereo weren't quite as clear as the left. Cleaned all the tube pins ,rca's , now the sound is the same on both sides. Cool ! | | ★★★★★ | Follow the directions and it works as specificed | Verified Purchase | I have used Deoxit for years in the Broadcast Industry. It did a super job cleaning and lubing the controls on my 40-year old Dentron MT300A Ham radio antenna tuner. | | ★★★★★ | Excellent product, inexpensive way to improve sound | Verified Purchase | Increases sound depth of field like in taking a picture I was impressed with a more vibrant sound, sharper, clearer | | ★★★★★ | Great product | Verified Purchase | It works great to clean up my Schiit Valhalla 2 tube socket | | ★★★★★ | great! | Verified Purchase | This stuff is great! I use it almost on all electronics for simple repairs. It saves me from buying replacement parts, keep up with maintenance. Just recently i used it on my car battery contacts. I used it on an old flashlight since it had corroding batteries in it. One of my turntables was having a bad connection at the headshell, now working. | | ★★★★★ | Miracle water or $ 8000/gallon snake oil? | Verified Purchase | Can't say for certain, but I was able to restore 2 vintage analog stereo receivers, and improve the sound of modern stereo/home theater equipment 50 to 100%. Research "Youtube" videos before use in order to maximize your efforts. Tedious and time consuming to use properly, but better sound without purchasing new equipment is what it's all about. Make sure to buy the kit with all the little swabs. | | See more reviews |

Question: | does this product have a shelf life? | Answer: | Anyone who works on electronics swears by these products including me. Shelf life like with anything chemical will depend on how it's stored. With this, such a small amount is usually sufficient that shelf life really is of no concern compared to the miraculous result it achieves. Completely worth the purchase price even if it's only used one time.
| | Question: | will this work on an iphone lightning port? | Answer: | YES! My iPad Air 2 is getting very tired and the only way I can get it to even turn on is to apply a brief squirt of D5 and insert the lighting cable end - then it powers up even though the battery is fully charged. I have op ned the unit and the charge port is sealed - besides D5 does not short ANYTHING out.
i have been working as an amplifier tech for years and use Caig products eclusively on both tube and solid state quipment - and on my computers, tablets, phones etc.
| | Question: | Is this a 25 ml size? How much solution is in each bottle? | Answer: | No, Each bottle is 7.4 ml. I’ve been using those two products for over 20 years. Believe me, unless you use this as a Pro in a business, it will last years. The Red,(Cleaning fluid), will last a little longer as you only need it on old contacts, then follow it with The Gold. The Gold can be put right on new contacts without using the Red fluid. Caig WORKS! I can’t tell you how many flashlights and other electronics I revived with those two products alone. They also make a Blue contact fluid that is for heavy exposure to the elements, and more expensive. But, they all work. NASA uses these products to coat the wires and contacts in Rockets.
| | Question: | Will this work for cleaning a dc power connection? i don't see dc power listed. | Answer: | I don't see why not. Just use it according to the directions. Make sure everything is dry before using anything. For DC power connections you can even use rubbing alcohol for cleaning purposes. | | Question: | Will the Gold also work well on silver coated audio interconnects, or is there a specific version for silver plated copper? | Answer: | Just- "USE This", on any plated or un-plated alloy of "any" metallic type of,-->Connector/connection/splice/PCB's/solder joints/USB/ RCA/ XLR/RS232, Etc. etc. etc...
Do NOT be afraid to use this or any other "Deoxit" solution at all, of any of the available, (5%-100%) Strengths/Purities on ANY metal surface currently available for an electronic connection. And "ESPECIALLY" for "High Fidelity" audio components/connections! And I really do mean for ALL of the connections!
Just to say;
I have no affiliation with "Caig Labs" Or "Hosa" or any other Chem Co. "Never did and I am now retired".
I do not know the chemical make-up of this solution.
I do not know any of the how or the why of this product. But it "has" indeed become "legendary" over the last (20) or-so years.
And I DO know this. It works. And I mean it works, "Ridiculously Well"!
AND, Do not take my word on this, "Ask Around"!
ANYBODY whom currently or in the past, (20+) years has worked with any seriously expensive audio electronics? They either know about and heartily endorse the use of this product. And many of them now use it on everything electrical!
OR?
They are the type which you need to simply, "Walk away from".
This chemical, "Solution" has been around quite awhile now. Originally, this product was sold under a different brand name and company, (20+) years ago. But it works exactly the same and has also stayed in the same high quality since it's consumer debut.
"Many" that I know stopped using the, "Red" , "Deoxit" entirely and simply use the "Gold", "Deoxit" spray and also the liquid, "The liquid form in a, (100% solution) is called the, (G100)". "The, (G100) liquid is much preferred by nearly all".
"I", still use the "Red" for anything needing a good initial cleaning first. "Both the (D5) and (D100L)". Then I use either the "Gold", or, "Green", "Deoxit" products as needed.
The same personage as well as "I" also still use the "Green", "Deoxit" products as well. There IS simply nothing else on the market that will get those old potentiometers to move so smooth and silent again! Free movement again and with out all that, "Crackle"!
The, "Green" is for all of your manual panel controls, "Radial AND Sliding type. Plus both Metal AND conductive Plastic contactor types too"!
I worked in one capacity or another with electrical gear for over 40 years. From simple, tiny, bread board circuits to "Full On" giant switchgear. And I have never known a more widely and readily endorsed product in the electrical industry!
If it's good enough for an, "ICBM", The "Space Shuttle", And the "International Space Station"?? It ought to be good enough for my old and also new tube amplifiers!
Good Luck!
