Will not stay pulled out! *UPDATED*

I have been using retractable products for 50 years. Air lines, shop lights and extensions cords etc. I know how to operate these things. Despite the good ratings, this one will not stay out no mater what I do. Also the ball that keeps it from going in is adjustable in one direction. But I wanted it closer to the end so it wouldn't hang down where I would run into it. Not a chance. I had to destroy the thing to get it to move. Maybe I did something wrong, but there are no instructions how to adjust it, so I did my best. Unfortunately it's not convenient for me to return, so I will just chalk it up to experience.

I was contacted by DEWENWILS customer service regarding my review. From the very beginning I got the feeling that all they wanted was to make me a satisfied customer. After several emails back and forth, it was determined I had a faulty unit. They gave me a couple options to rectify the problem and I opted for a replacement. 3 days later I had a new unit and it works perfectly! Smooth, easy operation. Exactly as it should and then some. So I updated to 5 stars for the product and the excellent customer service. Great job DEWENWILS!

Great quality for Home use.

Great quality for the price. Do wish it did not have the breaker...adds too much weight to the lead in cord. Would not recommend for heavy use or a professional shop, but for home use it’s very much up to the task.

Only thing I would change is for the mounting bracket holes be spaced to line up with slot angle sistered back to back like is used for garage door openers. Most garages have power at the opener, which is mounted with slot angle. This reel can easily hang from there. I modified slightly on my drill press and all is well. Not a bit issue, just a potential improvement.

Amazing Addition to the Garage!

For around 40 bucks, this can't be beat. I used a couple of my own lag screws to attach it to a ceiling joist. Now instead of having extention cords across the floor (trip hazard?), I can just pull this thing out to wherever I need it. While it serves all of my purposes, keep in mind it's rated for 10 amperes. Some table saws or large miter saws would probably blow the fuse. If this happens, the fuse is easy to replace.

Easy Power Source From Ceiling

There was an existing plugin on the ceiling next to the garage door opener for this to plug it in. So all I had to do was hang it and plug it in. I have added an eye bolt to direct the extension cord towards the shelves where the flower and veggie seeds are starting.

I think there would be better choices for lawn work. If this one isn't mounted to a beam or ceiling, it would be very difficult to get it pulled out and even harder to get it to retract.
