★★★★★ | Able to hook up Slingbox to Diectv genie! |
Verified Purchase |
I bought this because we recently upgraded to the Directv genie system. I was unable to use my Slingbox anymore because the Genie doesn't have the connections needed to hook up to it. Then I found this dongle and connected it to the Genie and the Slingbox and VOILA! we are back in business! The bonus is, with the old Directv dvr box, I was only able to connect to my Slingbox with component cables, (my SB doesn't have HDMI) and although I got a great picture, with this new dongle the picture is even better although it connects to the SB through component jacks. Anyway, this is the perfect solution if you upgrade to the Genie and still want to use your Slingbox. |

★★★★★ | Brilliant Product |

If you need component video output from your crappy little DirecTV Genie box, this magnificent cable will save the day. Good for full 1080 HD. The cable is a bit on the short side, but the gauge is excellent and the results are as good as you can possibly get from component. I use mine for Slingbox, but these are more geared for analog-only high definition display devices, such as CRT projectors, HD CRT televisions, and HD CRT rear projection televisions/monitors. They can also even be useful on a digital set if you're all out of working HDMI inputs, or if HDCP is not supported. |

★★★★★ | I used this to be able to hook a chromecast ... |
Verified Purchase |
I used this to be able to hook a chromecast and DirecTV receiver to a TV with only one HDMI port. Now the chromecast is in the HDMI and the DirecTV is using the component input. Works perfectly. I read an earlier review that this only lets the DirecTV Genie display in 1080i which is true, but that is because only certain DirecTV channels broadcast in 1080p. According to the DirecTV website, thats only the Cinema channels, and since I don't watch those I cannot tell you whether this supports 1080p or not. It is known that component cables do not officially support 1080p, but there are plenty of cables that will still display 1080p content even though they don't support it but again, I can't confirm that. Since I am using this on a 24 inch television, I do not see any noticeable difference between an HDMI cable and this cable as far as picture quality is concerned, but your mileage may vary. |

★★★★★ | DirecTV component video cable via S-video (male) to Component video (male) & audio (male). |
Verified Purchase |
This is the cable that you will need if you have an HDTV that doesn't have the capability to decode the newer digital content protection and you can't upgrade your tv via firmware. I am using a DirecTV Genie system with a mini client attached to a 6 year old Samsung 32" LCD (LN32****) via an HDMI cable. The video would go black with a notice that the tv was unable to display the digital media due the newer digital content protection instilled either by DirecTV or the cable companies. So, I replaced the HDMI cable with this cable under recommendation by DirecTV's help desk. This cable does provide HD picture quality (via RCA connectors for component connection on one end and S-video on the opposite end) and both left and right audio all molded into one cable. You may want to also purchase a separate COMPONENT cable if you need a length greater than 5 feet from your client box to your display panel. |

★★★★★ | Works with slingbox with RCA Female to Female Coupler Jack Adapter |
Verified Purchase |
I upgraded my HD-DVR receivers to the Genie system and lo and behold, only the Genie DVR have component output. I use the component output for my slingbox but the location where it's located with ethernet connection have a Genie C41W Wireless mini genie. The DTV installer gave me a RCA dongle which everybody knows won't do HD and he is not aware that anything else is available. I did a search and found this Component dongle. Ordered it and received it in 2 days but when I opened the package, found out the hard way that the component connections are male and the slingbox connections are also male. (The picture on the product at the time was in a plastic bag and the connectors are not visible). I ordered a 5 pack RCA Female to Female Coupler Jack Adapter to make the connections and my slingbox is back in action. |

★★★★★ | Connects DirectTV Genie C31 Mini To Hauppauge HD-PVR 1212 |
Verified Purchase |
Just got this little gem and it connects the DirectTV Genie C31 mini-client to the Hauppauge HD PVR1200's component to USB system, for direct input of HD video, with audio, into your computer's USB port. Since HDCP handshaking is not used on component output, this is perhaps the best way to display and capture full 1080i HD content onto one's computer. The Hauppauge unit captures at true H-264 1080i in a variety of formats including MP4, Xbox, PS3. It captures crystal clear HD, especially in the Windows 7 Media Player which is extra clear. You cannot tell the difference in quality between these and DVR captures. But with the Hauppauge (which you can buy from Amazon) you can capture small snippets of anything, or stills, in full blown HD. This cable works just the same as the component cables right out of the back of the main DirectTV or cable system boxes.
This thing started up on the HD PVR on the first try without any adjustments. I am extremely pleased that I could input DirectTV into my computer out at a remote location. DirectTV did the Genie with it's C-31 mini right. DirectTV markets this cable under their own name. Many to most YouTube HD captures are done this way.
If you've got a C-31 Mini and a Hauppauge at about 150-180 bucks, buy this cable. If nothing else it makes a dirt cheap full screen HDTV out of your computer and in it's smaller window, you can both watch TV and do your computing all on the same screen. I run two monitors which make it even easier. |

★★★★★ | Cheap fix for continued Slingbox accessibility |
Verified Purchase |
I'm not sure why the issues with this, but for me it worked perfectly on my 350 and 500. The only issue for me was getting past the setup screen on the 500. It would not move to the point where I could set up the box since of course you need to reset it for the Gene Mini. And why this is annoying is because the app on the tablet and phone won't let you change this. You HAVE to do this on a computer through the web client. Boo...
Other than that, someone should tell the the DirectTV that there is indeed a way to have do this since I was told that my Slingboxes were not going to work with the new Mini and I had to wait until they rolled out whatever is replacing the GenieGo nonsense. |

★★★★★ | Must use for satellite digital audio out and TV off. |
Verified Purchase |
If you listen to music from satellite tv you cannot use HDMI. It will turn off all sound when the TV is turned off. This cable gives a great picture if you watch but it has no control lines to turn off the sound when the TV is turned off. |

★★★★★ | With this adapter cable on my DirecTV Genie box I can plug into my "S" video out to the RCA inputs to my RF device and it works |
Verified Purchase |
I use RF earphones to listen to my TV throughout the house when I turn off the sound to not interfere with people sleeping. On some TVs' when you plug into their audio out it kills the sound altogether from the TV. I also have a hearing problem and for me to hear at my level, it is uncomfortable for other peoples ears. With this adapter cable on my DirecTV Genie box I can plug into my "S" video out to the RCA inputs to my RF device and it works great. It works great if I just want to listen to TV and not watch it. My unit has about 150 foot range so I can even go outside and listen to my favorite news program. Thanks loads to whoever made up this adapter cable. |

★★★★★ | Works good for our Genie system |
Verified Purchase |
Worked good for our new setup, installer did not provide any cables for the extra boxes so when I swapped the basement and living room TV's I was out of luck as the main Genie box in the living room has HDMI, composite, and component but the extender boxes only have HDMI and a port for an adapter like this one, got this cord and with some fiddling got this to work. Do be aware that I did have to adjust the video setting down to 480 on the Genie extender using the HDMI cable first, it was on 1080 for the other TV and did not automatically recognize the setting for this cable, if you're using this cable just for the stereo sound you don't have to worry about the video setting. |
