The screws to tighten down the cables have a beveled end with slight serrations on the edges which could be a good or bad thing

The ports on this distribution block are true to size which is a relief because that gets lost in translation often. The block is actually covered with a clear plastic top that snaps in place with 4 tabs. The tabs aren't the easiest to work with and I actually had to use a thin screwdriver to pop it off while being careful not to break them. The clear plastic base is screwed to the distribution block and has 4 holes to screw it down. The screws to tighten down the cables have a beveled end with slight serrations on the edges which could be a good or bad thing. Those serrations are going to chew into your cable and actually give you a better connection especially if you have something like a 10,000 strand monster cable. The downside is that once you disconnect that cable, some of the strands will fall off and you'll need to chop a half inch off the cable to get 100% of the conductors back. If you're using a 110 strand 2 gauge starter cable like me, each strand is thicker and unlikely to be broken by those serrations. Starter cable is still acceptable to use for car audio because although it's not as flexible, it has enough flex to resist road vibrations when used in short spans. Overall this piece was a good fit, did it's job and looks nice.

Good/bad review

Review for the single 1/0 in/ dual 1/0 out block.
The good:
Solidly built. Set screws clamp hard. Thread stripping point was over 105 foot pounds. No way you'll need to exceed that. The cover is positively held on with two small phillips screws - nice touch. Decently clean castings on both the metal and the plastic.
The bad:
The metal dist. block still shows raw machining marks and it has minor scratches in the finish, so I wouldn't use for visible pieces in a "show quality" install where close up photos of wiring is often done. But at this price point, that's not why you would buy it anyway.

Overall, I would not hesitate to buy again when needed.

Loved that it is actually 1/0 by 4. Don't need reducers.

I installed 2 of these in my car which has all 1/0 guage running thru-out entire vehicle. I have 3 Orion amps that require big power. I was able to split my power coming from my battery into 3. (1) 1/0 in, (1) 1/0 to my amp and (1) 1/0 to the rear for my other 2 amps plus my capacitor. And same scenario in the back of the car. I had NO problems at all getting my stripped wire into the fittings. Usually company's say 1/0 but it wont fit. These, no problem at all. And I've read some people complaining about the covers. If you know how to put them on correctly then you wont have any problems at all. Both my covers went on very easily and are on very well. Put one side in first then squeeze a little and the other side snaps right in. I love em. IMO

1/0G with ferrules will NOT fit!

Item is solid quality, but warning if you are going to use a ferrule for 1/0Guage wire IT will not fit!!!
I had to enlarge the holes to make 1/0G w/ferrule to get it to fit.
But if your just going install wire bare then your fine.

Great build quality!

These blocks are perfect for splitting 0-gauge to amplifiers, take up very little additional space in the build, and they don't seem like they'd be easy to break unless you're really trying. I like that the covers completely cover all metal surfaces so there's virtually no possibility of shorting anything. Had absolutely no issue fitting in 1/0 gauge welding wire.

Good but

The screws were stripped on one side of the plastic cover making it difficult to open. I can see this as being the only problem with the product, otherwise seems pretty nice, but higher quality screws may solve this issue or I could have just received a over-tightened ground block in which they stripped the screws

Works perfectly.

I needed to split power from the car battery to an amp, a capacitor and a sub. This D-block did the job. It is made of durable metal with a nice plastic cover. Easy to insert and secure the wires. Highly recommend.

Pro Grade

Very well made product. Just what I needed to install 0ga in and two 0ga out or 4ga

Question & Answer

Question :

Would this come with any reducers? Got 4ga. Going in and need it going out.

Answer :

This model has 1 0ga input and 2 4ga outputs. So it splits (reduces) from 0ga to 4ga. You never want to devide power from a single 4ga to two 4ga. You can cause the main line in to heat up and the protective wrap to melt and cause a fire. Always go with a larger to smaller.

Question :

can you put 4 gauge in instead of 0 gauge and have 4 gauge out ?

Answer :

Yes you can but it would not be correct and I would not do it myself I would do it correctly, whether you're using power or ground distributing A single 4 gauge wire into 2) 4- gauge wires is incorrect

Question :

can I use a 4awg power cable as the input and have two 8 awg going to my amps, hence my alpine 4 channel amp recommends using 8awg power cable?

Answer :

The screws will hold down the smaller wires like you are asking. However, it never hurts to use the 1 gauge wire with the two 4 gauge going out. I believe the Alpime recommendation is based on the minimal size gauge for optimal performance. Using bigger wires will ensure it gets enough power and make it easier to upgrade later if you decide to in the future.

Question :

What do i get if i have 6 gauge only?

Answer :

Get 4 g, i run 0 g, produces more power

Question :

I want to use this item to connect 3 input 1/0 cables with 1 output 1/0 cable. Can anyone absolutely confirm that this item will work to do that?

Answer :

yes it would work // its not computer controlled in any way // just fuse at the source and fuse before the amp but that is some serious power// watch for heat issues //again that is some serious power

Question :

If i have 0 gauge going from batt to dist. block and two 4 gauge for two amps do i fuse between batt and block or two seperate in line fuses?

Answer :

Always install fuse within 2’ from the battery for optimum protection for all equipment fed from dist. block.

Question :

Can i use this this to run 2 class D amplifiers together?

Answer :

Yes, I used it for 3.

Question :

Can i use for ground wiring in car engine bay? "in" from neg batt. terminal ... "out" thru the other 3 to the var. grounding points? (all 4awg)

Answer :

If you are using grounds for car amplifiers, you would ground them to the vehicle's chassis, not the actual battery. I ran a single ground wire to a bolt on the floor and then to the distribution block. Out of that I ran two grounds to two different amps. Make sure you sand the bolt and vehicle surface down to bare metal. Paint and sealers make for a bad ground connection.

Question :

It says 2X8 gauge out..... But doesnt it have 4 ports out?

Answer :

It has one 4 gauge going in and has 2 8 gauge coming out.

Question :

The product says ground block , can it be used for the hot also?

Answer :

You can but you would have to add a inline fuse to each, better to get a fused block and used the size fuses the amp calls for
