I have an older, and in the case of new things coming out every week, much older GPS in my semi. It uses the now old style FM radio signals for the coverage area around metro areas where traffic tie ups are most likely. This is the necessary part "A" of the traffic system. You also need the flexible FM antenna wire, part "B", that plugs into receptacle on this unit. The antenna is sold separately. It has a small suction cup that allows it to be in the vertical position which gives the best reception. I had a trip around Omaha where an early morning fatal accident caused the interstate to close down. The next best route through Omaha was under construction and had traffic issues so I went to plan "C" which showed no issues. I may have lost a couple minutes but didn't get tied up for an hour or more in morning rush hour delays. Unfortunately, this is a daily issue with today's traffic. Don't forget the separate antenna. |

★★★★★ | Replacement that works |

I bought this to replace the cord that originally came with my Nubi 1450. At that time GPS units invited break ins so I always put it away when parked in a public space. Trouble was the the mini-USB connector eventually wore and became loose so I had to replace it. It works just like the original. The only problem is that the "lifetime" traffic subscription is effectively for the life time of the cable not of the Nuvi or you! Maybe if I had got on the phone and badgered Garmin customer service I could have gotten a better price but I had more important things to be doing. Suggestion: Find a way that you unplug this cable from your GPS device as infrequently as possible-- the connector will last longer. |

★★★★★ | Exactly like the one that came with my gps. |

These are awesome, the wire inside my old one broke and would no longer work, bought a regular power cord and of course didn't receive all my traffic alerts, which I love about my gps so decided to bite the bullet and get another one. It is so nice to have it back, I drove hot shot for years and this was a great asset, now I just use it for pulling my '5er' and it is nice to avoid slow downs on the road and get me around the accidents safely. |

★★★★★ | This newer GTM 36 unit is built at least slightly better than the original cable that came with my Garmin |

This is key for those who are looking to replace their old Garmin power cable ***specifically for models featuring the traffic radio***: THIS Garmin part is the ONLY way to preserve the traffic radio functionality of your device(!). The radio unit is actually in-line with the power cable (note the rectangular module on the cable..), and IS NOT INCLUDED with any other manufacturer's replacement power cable.. This fact is apparently missed in every other review I have read here for this replacement product.. Also to note: This newer GTM 36 unit is built at least slightly better than the original cable that came with my Garmin, so I assume it will last longer. |

★★★★★ | Direct replacement of the old one. The problem is ... |

Direct replacement of the old one. The problem is that garmin assumed you'd route your power above the GPS based on plug in angle (or didn't design it at all). I guess that's *possible* but I've always routed power down from the GPS. So you stress the wire, and after 5 years needed a replacement cable. Still cheaper than a new TOL Garmin GPS. |

It is frustrating to have to spend the extra cost to use brand name Garmin cords.
But in my experience other cords will drive you nuts because they simply do not work as well. |

★★★★★ | Great additional feature for my nuvi 2575RLM |

I'm student in Pittsburgh, but sometime travel to other city when having midterm break or semester break. In the city of Pittsburgh, PA I don't find any trouble with traffic. But when outside PA, seems like avoiding traffic will be a great feature to my nuvi 2575RLM. I've read several reviews about this traffic receiver. Some said that there are local ads, some said that no picking up the traffic. Here's my review for this.
I paired this FM Traffic Receiver to my nuvi 2575RLM via its craddle. Go to Tools > Setting. And there is a new icon "Traffic". The options are only to enable this FM traffic feature and showing to which traffic receiver I subscribe. In this case, I am subscribing to lifetime traffic US & CA.
It took 5 minutes to make this item picking up the signal and showing up the green circle icon on the left (the icon of two cars overlapped with green background). Touching this icon will give me 3 additional menu items: "Show traffic map" and "Search traffic". One last icon will be shown up if I set my GPS to a certain destination and the current route is active: "Traffic on route". a. "Show traffic map" will give you color coded road. Red for heavy traffic, Yellow for crowded but moving, and Green for low traffic. Don't forget to set up the nuRoute to avoid traffic, otherwise, this item would not be helpful. b. "Traffic search" will give you the condition on the nearest road from your GPS location, even when you're not setting up the route. You can browse a road block, construction, etc. I can see several main road that have red color in after hour. Nice to see that, means that this item works. c. "Traffic on route" will show you a dynamic condition about traffic along with the route. Since Pittsburgh and my center of activity is not really crowded, I never see a traffic on my route.
The product is great, the seller is also great seller. They offer me a 3 year warranty, if this item is not working within 3 year, send it back to them and they will replace it with a new one.
Hope it helps. |

★★★★★ | Works pretty good |

I wanted capability to get traffic without having to pair with my phone. This seems to work to do that so far. I've used it a few times and it has kept pretty up with what my phone shows. It does require being plugged into your car, but then that also gives power to your Garmin, so that's a good thing. |

★★★★★ | This is the best traffic receiver I ever had |

This is the best traffic receiver I ever had. I picked up a traffic jam on the gps which I heard on the news 30 miles away. When I touched the delay information a map appeared showing me exactly where the accident was. This is definitely a good investment!!!! |
