High quality wire at a reasonable price

This is high quality, 16 AWG zip cord (two-conductor wire) at a very reasonable price. The conductor is actually copper, rather than copper clad aluminum or steel, so it's very flexible and easy to solder. The insulation is high quality; it is resistant to hydrocarbons (gasoline, oil, etc.) and rated for temperatures up to 176 F (80 C), so it's suitable for use in most automotive engine compartments as long as it's kept a few inches away from the engine block, exhaust manifolds and other high temperature parts. The conductors are individually insulated (one red, one black) and pull apart easily and cleanly. I've used this wire to make power cables for amateur radios and also to install lighting and equipment on vehicles, and it's worked very well.

This is the real deal

I often am skeptical about buying wire on amazon given the vast range of quality I've seen on it. I've seen wire advertised as "pure copper" that was clearly copper coated steel or other. This stuff is real. It's super flexible, jacket is tough, and it's sized just as it says. I haven't counted the strands, but it's a lot, as you'd expect from quality stranded wire. Highly recommend this stuff. I'd been buying the Powerwerx brand which is top quality, but comes at top price. This stuff is EVERY bit as good!

Lionel Fastrack

GS Power 100% Copper 16 AWG (American Wire Gauge) Stranded Flexible Dual Conductor Bonded works great with the Fastrack connectors. Fairly easy to insert wire into connectors plus the wire cutout to hold the connectors in place fits very nicely. See photos. I chose GS because of 99.9% Oxygen Free Copper Wire which is important to me. I ran an old Lionel steamer which takes a lot of load from the ZW transformer. A ZW will run all it's combined power to one engine which easily overheats the 22 gauge wire that comes with a terminal fastrack. See photo. So I have transformed all wiring to 16 AWG including wires connecting track every six feet. A much better running layout.

Works Well in Other Than Automotive Applications

Was looking for a durable wire for use to wire 12 volt DC under counter LED Puck Lights. While my application was not as severe as it's original automotive application, its worked well for my installation. Unlike other wires suggested for that application, it is a higher gauge for less voltage loss and it has a very durable coating that is easily stripped with a standard electrical wire stripper. A further plus is that like the wire attached to the Puck Lights, it is red and black, so it was easy to keep the polarity correct when wiring these LED lights.

LiOn Battery packs and 16ga 99% Copper

First ordered the CCA and after working with 18ga; the 40w soldering iron burned off the copper and nothing would stick to the aluminum. Needed 16 & 14 gauge for some heavier LiOn battery packs and the 16 ga 99% Copper (not the CCA) was perfect for the projects. The wire was perfect; insulation was good; price was right; and, delivery excellent.

Great OFC wire

This is some great wire. I bought several spools of wire from these guys cause it's OFC pure copper and not CCA crap. And it's zip wire! I'm very happy with the wire itself. It solders and bends just fine. Powers all my lighting and equipment very well. The only downside is that the jacketing is not marked or labeled at all. Doesn't matter much to me because I'm just using it for automotive stuff but maybe to someone it matters. Came on a nice and thicc plastic spool

Pure copper

On my second order. I use this wire for my DIY projects -- speakers, wiring sockets, etc. Excellent product. Do not ever buy "copper clad aluminum" for anything. Only buy pure copper.

Good quality

Received product as described. Good quality. Insulation is good quality. Wire is slightly stiff making alot easier to run through channels. Would buy again.

Question & Answer

Question :

Is there 100 feet of red and black, or 50 foot each to equal 100 feet total? Thanks for any info.

Answer :

it's not one red and one black; it's lamp wire - with the 2 joined;
so it's 100 ft of red/black wire;

Question :

Would this work for a 100w 2 channels boss amp?

Answer :

Yes, it should work just fine unless the run is unusually long.

16 gauge copper wire has a resistance of about 4 ohms per 1000 feet. That means that a pair of wires would have a resistance of about 8 ohms per 1000 feet. If the run from your amplifier to the speakers is 100 feet the resistance would be about 0.8 ohms which would not be a problem. If the run is longer than 100 feet you might want to consider heavier wire.

Question :

Will this work for led light pods?

Answer :

This should work for most 12 volt applications, especially LED lights because they don’t draw very much

Question :

Can this be used for 12 volt lawn mower lights

Answer :

This is pure copper wire so it does resist corrosion unlike copper clad aluminum wire which cannot be exposure to moisture at all. However, if you are going to leave the lawn mower outside, I would suggest using outdoor wire that has tinned copper such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0799GD2DY

Question :

Can i use on 110vac ???

Answer :

No! This is for 12 volt automotive type applications only. The insulation is not rated for 120 volts AC. Using it for that would be highly unsafe.

Question :

What country does this ship from?

Answer :

Not known. It claims to be sized by {AWG} american wire gauage?

Question :

Can i use on 120 volt , max 3 amp vac??

Answer :

I think you could have many better options than this for 120 volt. In a pinch my opinion yes.

Question :

Could this used for boat lighting?

Answer :

It is designed for low voltage DC wiring for autos, trailers and marine use. It should work fine for marine use if you use shrink tubing to waterproof any connections. I actually used it for installing low voltage puck lights under my upper kitchen cabinets after coming from the low voltage transformer.

Question :

Can this be used for 12 volt low amperage solar applications?

Answer :

I used it for solar on my camper with LED lighting and radio

Question :

Good for electric trains

Answer :

This is a 12volt dc wire. Much heavier than any I have seen used for electric trains. I wish I knew more about your application.
