Review

Worked great for extending range of Sonos Port.

I used this to extend the digital output from my living room Sonos Port to my sun room.. via a coaxial wall jack, through my basement, up through my attic, through my garage, and then through a drilled hole in the eave via a 100ft Cat6 cable (and about 8ft of coaxial to the wall jack). It works great. Only the transmitter is powered and the receiver gets its power via the cable and has an LED power indicator.

I also tested without using this and it worked through just a regular 100ft coaxial cable, but it is WAY out of spec and I decided to just use balanced audio and do it right. It's been great so far and if I decide to move things at some point I conveniently have a nice run of Cat 6 I could use for something else.

It just works!

After a home remodel that included placing a TV over the fireplace, I realized all too late that my buried optical audio cable had snapped. As I have old home theater equipment that I wish to keep, this was a huge problem. I was at first put off by the price, however since I had wired everywhere for Ethernet, it was worth the try. It worked FLAWLESSLY without any delays in sound. I’m astounded that this adapter exists and am so glad I didn’t have to rip into my newly finished walls.

Works great, love the dual output

Works well for my setup. Used to connect Sonos Port in basement server to upstairs stereo. The transmitter runs cool, and receiver is plug/play with no additional electrical plug in. I took advantage of the duel plug running audio from Toshlink output to Schiit Modi DAC on main stereo and digital coaxial to another system via in wall coaxial connection. Allows me to have Sonos in multiple rooms with one Port. My Cat6 run is probably about 50 feet, and audio sounds great to my ear.

Easy way to send digital audio long distances

Worked exactly as hoped. Plugged in the inputs and outputs, powered on, and was up-and-running. Was able to make use of an idle ethernet line to connect our TV to an older though still high quality AVR some distance away.

Very happy with this purchase

I purchased this to connect two surround systems in two different rooms. It worked wonderfully with an extra long CAT5e cable. The sound quality is exceptional and the build quality feels very solid. Highly Recommended.

Perfect for the job

These worked perfect without any fuss. I think my cable length is only 80 feet or so but these worked great extending both optical (s/pdif) and digital coax.

Works as advertised

The Integra HDBase-T extender I’m using does not support ARC, so I bought this to return the Audio signal from the TV back to the receiver for when I’m playing content via the built in TV apps.

Works great

Used this to deliver audio to my AVR from TV streaming service as my video balen would not transmit over ARC (I have HDMI over cat 6). Simple, foolproof setup. Unit with very small footprint makes concealment behind TV very easy. Now I don't have to rely on TV speakers when connecting to streaming service. Highly recommend.

It worked like a charm

the devices are super easy to install, very effective and extremely good quality. It took literally less than 5 min. to figure out what I wanted to do and which device goes where and then plug them in and voila!

Works Great

Plagued with problems using ARC and a HDMI extender costing twice as much I decided to try this unit out. Everything works perfectly and has been doing so ever since I hooked it up.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:What are the specs (amps, and mm dimensions of the barrel connector) on the power adapter?
Answer:5 VDC 1A call (888) 610-2818 for the connector size.

Question:How does a single rca connector produce stereo? trying to hook up to sonos amp as an input, seems i will need a toslink to rca adapter?
Answer:Single coax (orange] connections are digital signals. Just like toslink. Use a stereo mini to RCA adapter in the headphone jack for analog audio out.

Question:Will this handle adat optical?
Answer:Not sure. I can't see why it wouldn't though. Optical is optivcal

Question:Does this extender support hdmi arc?
Answer:This unit is optical/coaxial based, it does not support HDMI.

Question:Hi, can this be use in Asia which is using standard voltage of 230V?
Answer:This device requires 5 VDC delivered at 1A. You will need a 230 VAC to DC converter that meets this requirement. Check this website for the user manual https://jtechdigital.com/product/digital-audio-extender/ Also, they have a very good technical service based in Texas (USA) at (888) 610-2818.

Question:I want to get optical back from my tv but would like the tx (with poe) in my audio closet. will that work? or does tx need to be at the tv/source?
Answer:ON this particular unit, the power source needs to be at the transmitter. Depending on how far away your closet is, you may be able to run the optical cable from the TV to the audio closet and put the transmitter. Your limitation with this would be the length of your optical cable.

Question:there seems to be answers and descriptions for a digital to analog converter, mixed in reviews for this J-Tech digital audio extender?
Answer:It works for me

Question:Will these connect to a network (i.e. receive an ip address) so i can send the signal over bridged wifi switches/routers?
Answer:No

Question:Can i just use the tx only? i need to convert from digital audio optical to ethernet.
Answer:This does not convert to internet (TCP/IP) protocol. It only uses the Cat 5/6 cable as a transport mechanism. You would need to take the optical signal and convert that to Dante or some other digital audio format.

Question:Can these be used with ethernet powerline adapters?
Answer:It’s Hdmi. Does it’s own radio communications... I’ve got 2 in restaurants for mobile tvs on patio
