Great subwoofer.

UPDATE 1/23/2021!! Wouldn't fit my car but I wanted it SO bad!

I was looking for a good replacement sub for my 2001 Chevy Suburban and this JBL sub has a massive magnet and a high quality basket at a very reasonable price. So I ordered it up with high anticipations.
It was not meant to be however! The website description of the JBL didn't include the mounting depth for the JBL. The mounting depth of the OEM sub (made by Pioneer it turns out) is REALLY shallow at 3.125" (3-1/8"). There was no way it would fit into the OEM sub enclosure in the left rear of the 'Burban. Back to the drawing board! I could only find a few subs that matched the mounting depth and I settled on the MB Quart DS1-204 Discus Shallow Mount Subwoofer which is also a very reasonably priced unit. I will leave a review on that when it arrives and I've installed and listened to it. Cheers!
It's very difficult to find another sub that will fit in the OEM enclosure because the mounting depth is only 3.125" (3-1/8"). I found this MB Quart unit and it was only 2.875 (2-7/8") so it dropped right in. I found several videos online that outlined the removal and replacement procedure so all in all it was a pretty easy install. Just make sure yopu wire it for 2 OHMS! WOW oh WOW! It sounds better than ever before! The bass is punchy and deep even though the enclosure is small. You won't be disappointed with the MB Quart 8" sub if you have a similar age Tahoe or Suburban.

Great sound in a small box

First and foremost, the sound is awesome for an 8" woofer! It is connected to an Alpine mono amp, installed in the original small (0.30 ft3) sealed box in a '12 Odyssey...much more efficient than the Rockford Fosgate 8" I had in there before. The only issue is the smaller diameter of JBL speakers (at least, all the JBLs I ever owned were smaller than other brands) The diameter is about .25" less than normal 8" and did not cover the entire hole. I made an adapter with 1/2" MDF to make it fit.

Great little Subwoofer!!!!

Perfect replacement for my factory 8 inch sub! Sounds great for it’s size! It’s just the right amount of subwoofer to not overpower my stereo speakers! Love it!
If you’re looking for a ton of thump this is not for you....... If you’re looking for a great sound without spending a bunch of money, it’s awesome!

Big punch for the package

I was stuck with an issue that I wanted to get a sub-woofer into a 2012 Tundra double cab which did not have any spare space except under the rear seats, with only 6" of vertical clearance. I came up with a vented box design that would fit exactly under the single seat of the 30/60 seat configuration (front of tire jack) with up-firing speaker and front vent, all designed per JBL recommended specs in the box (volume, port cross-sectional area, port length). Using a Pioneer 1000W mono amp (a little overpowering to speaker peak), this speaker really impressed me the bass punch it produced for its size, and the cleanliness of the sound.
It is not a speaker to shatter any windows down the street but it makes a huge difference over the stock speakers, you are able to feel the thump inside the truck, which is really where it counts. This will be my go-to speaker if I come upon a similar setup predicament.

As many other reviewers have mentioned, this was purchased to replace a factory subwoofer (in a ford explorer for me). I wound up creating a pass through for the wiring to connect to the factory amp and mounting this guy in a sub box since the OEM speaker was such a hassle to remove, but other than that it was a simply unplug the old speaker and attach the connectors to the new one. Great quality and wouldn’t expect any less from JBL :)

Works great

I used this sub to replace my home theater sub that had started sounding like junk...… this one fit the existing box perfectly, no issues, looks like nothing changed. I was worried for the first couple of days, as it didn't sound like it was working very well...…. that was just the "break in" period I guess. Now, it sounds so much better than the original speaker ever did.... great lows, solid bass with no waffling or distortion..... I am very pleased.

Excellent replacement option for 2003 Avalon with JBL factory sub.

About a 20 minute job from start to finish. I watched YouTube video by Dan the Fixit Man first which made the installation process much easier. Great result...very good sound for price paid.

Deeper than you'd expect from an 8 (I bought 2)

I built a sealed enclosure to go in the little compartment under my trunk. (There was never a spare tire in that spot) I've had great luck with JBL in the past, so when I had the idea for 2 8's in the floor of my trunk, I searched for JBL. These exceeded my expectations! I could not be more satisfied. They don't rattle my mirrors, but I'm kind of over that. But you can not beat the sound quality.

Fits Just Right for 03 Avalon

I needed to replace the factory sub in my 2003 Toyota Avalon that was blown. After some reading online, I found some information that suggested this series sub would fit the shallow space. As it turns out, it fits with only a few new holes drilled to secure the sub.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:Will this fit my2006 Avalon and will I have to drill holes?
Answer:I have a 2008 Avalon. The original speaker and bracket are all 1 piece but I was able to take a angle grinder and remove to old speaker from the bracket. Just pay attention to leave the needed metal to screw the speaker back in place (speaker to bracket and screwing to the rear dash) It sounds great but the rear seat and rear dash have to be removed to get the speaker out. I'm not a professional and it took me 3 hours from start to finish. Nice, tight bass with not rattle.

Question:Will this fit in the hole of stock 2002 Toyota Avalon slot in the back?
Answer:It will fit size wise but the factory screw setting and screw holes on this particular speaker don't line up as I thought so you'd have to add new holes

Question:Will this fit in the hole of a stock 02 suburban slot in the back?
Answer:Fits in the hole but isn't flush at all. Sticks out about 3/4 to one inch too far. 2002 Yukon XL

Question:Hello, can i use it without an amp? i all i want is add some bass to my actual stock audio non bose mazda 3 2010. thanks
Answer:You should at least put 10% of the rms rated power. For this it would be 20 watts rms.

Question:Will this fit a 2006 avalon xls? i dont want to drill new holes
Answer:I was not able to do this with my 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS. The only way to reuse the OEM speaker mount was to take a Dremel tool and cut all the way around the entire top part of the mounting bracket and then sand away the sharp edges. I did not want to put that much effort into doing all of that. You have to remove at least half of the entire bracket and not sure my skill level with a Dremel saw bit on metal was up it. You only get one chance to get it right.

Question:How do i wire this to my 07 4runner? i have 2 sets of wires coming from the car and only one terminal on the woofer.
Answer:I would hook up 1 pair at a time then see which one work while the stereo is on

Question:Will replace stock sub on 2020 Honda crv?
Answer:Yes.

Question:How does this get wired into a Toyota Avalon? Does it plug into the existing factory connector or does it have to be soldered or something?
Answer:For my 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS I cut the OEM wire connector off the old Sub Woofer and then used it on my new JBL 810 speaker by soldering it to the two leads. This allowed me to reuse the Factory OEM wire connectors again and did not have to worry about positive and negative. I remembered how the positive and negatives went with the 6.5 inch door speakers and then did a visual check as I was connecting the clips and they matched for positive and negative. You can get a "color code" of the different wires for each speaker from Cruthchfield for $10 if you do not buy your speakers from them. It is free if you buy your speakers from Cruthfield.

Question:Will this work for a 96 Lexus ls400
Answer:I don’t now I own a 2018 Honda Civic si

Question:Will this fit in a 2008 Honda Accord Exl?
Answer:Our JBL Stage 810 doesn't your vehicle. Check ut compatible products on our fit guide here: https://www.harmanaudio.com/car-speakers/
