Using Cat5 cables for internet modem, router, PC connections for years, the thought of upgrading Ethernet cables never crossed my mind. Until August 3, 2021.
Testing WiFi routers with/for WeLink Internet Service in Henderson, Nevada has me on the phone with inhouse techs almost daily. Our goal is to achieve the maximum download speeds from the rooftop radios being installed on homes and businesses. During one phone call, I mentioned an ad I saw on Amazon for Cat8 cables so did some research and was told by WeLink that they believe Cat5E or Cat6 work best. Thus, I ordered Monoprice because of the low price and I have purchased their other items with good results.
BOTTOM LINE: I did speed tests using Cat5 cables and then swapped the modem to router and router to PC with Monoprice Cat6 cables. RESULTS: Download speed went from 497Mbps to 575Mbps which is a 15.69% improvement. |
