The Best Speakerphone for WFH
Verified Purchase
Like many others, I spend approximately 6 hours a day in remote meetings due to work from home and COVID. I started out wearing my Airpods for all my meetings, but I was in so many meetings that my battery wouldn't make it until the end of the day. I started looking for an alternative solution.

I initially thought finding a good speakerphone would be super simple task (just search on Amazon and buy the top-rated product), but I found that to not be the case. I eventually ended up cycling through all of the following devices:

Jabra 510
Jabra 710
Jabra 750
Finally, the Poly Sync 20.

You NEED a speakerphone with duplex audio (which only the Jabra 750 and Poly Sync 20 supports). Otherwise, you can be talking over the other person and not even realize it. It took a few meetings before I realized that I was doing this (and others could accidentally perceive you as being rude).

The duplex audio works on the Jabra 750, but somehow the DSP and processing makes your voice sound unnatural and distant. It was bad enough that multiple people would comment to me about the bad microphone quality.

I eventually tried the Poly Sync 20 (which took some risk taking because it was hard to find reliable information on it), and I'm super glad that I did! It resolves a lot of the issues that I had with the Jabra, and actually had some additional perks as well. It does the most important thing I needed from my speakerphone: it supports duplex audio while keeping my voice sounding natural and unprocessed. As a side perk, the speaker quality for playing music sounds MUCH better than the Jabra. The Jabra is tuned for voice only, so it has a huge mid boost and absolutely no bass. The Poly Sync has a flatter frequency response, so it can be used easily as a laptop speaker for listening to music or watching a movie. It also serves as a phone charger, so it has great practically for carrying around in your bag.

What started out as a seemingly simple task (find a good speakerphone for my WFH meetings) turned into a much longer search, but I'm glad I finally found the "holy grail" of speakerphones. As a final note, I found it very hard to find reliable information regarding speakerphones in general. It seems like most of the reviews are some kind of affiliate marketing. For me, there was no replacement for ordering the devices and testing out the microphone and speaker quality firsthand. After doing so, there was no comparison between this device and the Jabra devices.

Works great in a home office with lots of echo
Verified Purchase
I started working from home in March 2020. My boss occasionally complained about poor sound from my system, mainly based on his hearing echoes when I spoke. Since I want to have a happy boss and to continue working from home, I have tried a series of microphone approaches to fix the problem. I tried a highly rated Logitech webcam with integrated microphone, and a highly rated Tonor condenser USB microphone. My boss kept complaining. Finally I bought the Poly - Sync 20 Bluetooth speakerphone. My boss said the sound is great on his end, and it's good from my end too. Problem solved.

By the way, the speakerphone controls the echoes only when the speakerphone is used for both mic and sound. If I use my desktop speaker system and the Sync 20 mic, people on the other end of the call still hear an echo.

Great speakerphone

This is a really good speakerphone. I wanted to replace using a separate mic and speakers for my work laptop for TEAMS calls. The sound is loud and clear, more bass than i expected. I set the unit up and played a youtube music video to try out the sound, my desk was vibrating from the bass, way better sound than i thought. It has 3 different equalizer settings, i prefer bright mode.

I am connecting via usb c to my laptop which is under my desk. however the usb cable is attached and only a couple of feet long, so i had to buy a usbc extension cable (6 ft) which worked fine, so if you need a longer lead then buy the extension too.

TEAMS integration works great, on usb only, not using bluetooth which is fine for me as i dont use bluetooth - you can still run TEAMS calls you just dont get the integration with the mute button etc. You can switch off the voice notifications for power and volume notificaitons via the web app.

Again, really clear and loud sound, mic works fine and for the price its impressive.

Stop looking, this is what you want for WFH. Overjoyed with this purchase.

Have a lot of video and teleconferences as part of the new normal (Work from Home, WFH). I have this hooked up to my work laptop via USB - it was plug and play, no drivers required. I also have it simultaneously paired with my cell via bluetooth, and can seamlessly switch between Teams/Zoom, and telephone. I've had people tell me I sound great online and via phone, and having full duplex operation makes online meetings much easier. Echo cancellation seems to work extremely well. Volume is strong and not tinny sounding. The unit has a nice set of hardware buttons for things like volume, mute, answer/hang up. There is a Teams button (doesn't work for me, but I don't care), and a reconfigurable button that I haven't used. As we all know, that mute button is a very important thing. There is a big red LED light that comes on when mute is engaged.

Pretty much this is dead simple to use and just works - I love being freed from a wired headset and mic for online meetings. It makes life a whole lot more pleasant, especially for longer meetings. It also comes with a nice case, and can be used as a battery pack for charging USB devices on the road. The physical design is also really nice - it seems very high quality. Someone did their homework when they designed this thing! Kudos to the engineers at polycom, my hat is off to you guys/gals.s

Great addition to home office

I bought this to replace using headphones for meetings. Never thought highly the sound quality of the mic/speakers in the laptop was useful for a meeting.

Really impressed with the sound quality and everyone has told me on the other side of the conference call no issues hearing me. It is much better than wearing a headset/earbuds 10 hours a day. My ears were actually getting infected quite often given the home office working environment these days.

Small enough, love the integration with Zoom/Teams. The zoom button sync has failed once or twice, but overall is working. With Zoom, if you mute in the app, it mutes the speaker and vice versa.

My only complaint is cord length, which should be about 1 foot longer, having a big desk and plugging into the docking station, required me to move the docking station a little bit.

Look forward to using it on the road.

Great device

Just like everyone else, working from home and meetings for at least 6 hours per day, I needed something not strapped to my head. This was a great purchase and works flawlessly. Not sure about folks that had echo and other issues, but I found setting within Microsoft Teams to fix that. Even ran a test call with the new settings and worked great! So far, no drops or broken during speaking (I do most of the talking) and love to be able to walk around my office during calls with minimal change in my voice. I've also used it for Zoom and WebEx without missing a beat. All around a great buy. For those that have echo or other issues, you need to check audio settings in all collaboration tools. You'll be surprised ;)

Excellent tool for high quality video calls and conferences
Verified Purchase
I have a competitors product on my company provided laptop and really liked the quality and professionalism for my Teams calls and wanted the same for my personal calls. I saw the Poly products and have been a Plantronics and Polycom fan for years and decided to give it a try. Wow am I happy I did. This has extremely high quality sound and was easy to set up and use. I would recommend this to anyone that uses Zoom or Teams or Bluejeans or any other video call tool if you want to be able to hear and be heard and make it polished and professional.

Worth the money

In the world we live with Teams and Zoom meetings this is a lifesaver.

I bot this to manage a business meeting at a hotel conference room which was 20 x 40. While I was skeptical about its microphone ability it knocked it out of the park.

With the volume at 100%, the battery lasted all day (about 9 hours).

Custom Questions & answers

Question:¿es este dispositivo compatible con el so linux?
Answer:Segun fabricante solo con Windows y Mac Os

Question:Will this work well for Teams conferencing with multiple voices in the room?
Answer:This model is more recommended for personal use, typically a 4 m x 4 m room size. The Sync 40 and Sync 60 are probably better for multiple voices. The Sync 40 is designed for flexible/huddle rooms and the 60 for small to medium conference rooms. Question:Why can't I connect this speaker to my PC via bluetooth? thought bluetooth is something coming with default these days
Answer:I connect mine without problem (Windows 10, XPS15, Poly Sync 20). It comes a communication dongle, but it works without it if your PC comes with Bluetooth. When connected, the Sync 20 comes with two profiles: Poly Sync 20 Stereo (for music/movie), and Poly Sync 20 Hands-free AG Audio (more suitable for human voice / conference call). So IT DOES WORK. If you don't know how to connect a device via Bluetooth, contact your PC support.

Question:Does it work as a full duplex speakerphone when connected to a PC via bluetooth?
Answer:Hi Mr. Kobayashi! The Sync 20 will come with a USB cord to connect to the computer and use for calls and media. As you know, most computers nowadays are equipped with internal Bluetooth. However, it is crucial to take into account that Bluetooth Technology works through different profiles. You could try pairing the speaker to the computer directly, but you may experience audio or connectivity problems. If you wish to be connected via Bluetooth instead of the USB connection, we recommend the Sync20+, which includes a USB Bluetooth adapter. We hope you will find this information useful, for further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care Team at 800-985-9815.

Question:Can I connect two phones using bluetooth?
Answer:Yes, you can connect devices including a phone or a computer via Bluetooth.

Question:Can i connect my usb-c version to a usb a port on my pc with an adaptor?
Answer:Yes, the recommended adapter is the USB-C to USB-A Part number: 209506-01. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact our Customer Care Team at: 800-985-9815.

Question:I'm hearing sound while mute/unmute, i did turn off that in poly lens, is that sound heard by people in call?
Answer:You can choose between three different options to customize the Mute alert whenever you press the button. You should be able to choose between double tone, single tone and a voice prompt. These alerts cannot be heard by people on the other end.

Question:Is the included c battery a rechargeable battery? does the usb connection recharge this c battery?
Answer:The unit does not include a C battery. The Sync 20 is charged through a USB cable that is attached to the spearkerphone by plugging it to a PC's USB port or a 5 volt wall charger. The speakerphone also contains a USB-A port so you can use it as a portable charger for your phone. If you would like to have more information, feel free to contact our Customer Care Team at: 800-985-9815.

Question:Does this work when you have about 10 people in the room as well as 10 people logged in remotely?
Answer:yes

Question:What does the teams button do?
