Works well but it's orifices are a little tight
Looks and feels like a quality unit, I like the circuit analyzers mellow light color codes of green and yellow, the control panels clear in your face instructions, the standard electrical circuit analyzers 3 in a row light orientation, and that the surge protection light is separated from the analyzer lights. I even like the orange color.
However, the ground and female plugs were a tad small, and extremely tight.
So tight that my RV plug wouldn't fit, until I took a small screwdriver, and pryed the crap out of the metal ground connector orifice, and kinda pre spread the the other two rectangular orifices.
Then it was still really tight, but I managed to start it, and tap it in with my rubber hammer.
This was all done after testing the circuit to be sure it was good, turning off the breaker, and unplugging the surge protector, BEFORE sticking anything in it of course..
So after I got th rv plugged into the surge dohicky, then I plugged it into the pedestal, turned the breaker back on, and rechecked the lights...
So far so good, it's only day 3, but they say lifetime warranty, and seem to care if it works when you get it. Which is more than I can say for many internet vendors, regardless where.
Kudos to Amazon for getting the buyers back though, they have always made sure I was happy, even if and when the vendors didn't..👍😎

A MUST have for RV'ing!
We have over the years run into every possible electrical situation at campgrounds from not enough current to too much. Reversed polarity and no or bad grounds etc, etc. Have even over the years been shocked from pedestals in campgrounds. Many are installed by unqualified people and any of these situations can cause a great deal of damage to your rig. Plug this in first,, and if it says all is good plug in the RV. Only takes a few seconds and can save a bunch of heartache. Also spikes in current are dangerous so these are a needed accessory for anyone camping, better safe than sorry as they say.

Circuit Tester and Surge Protector
A critical item for the RVer. Need to test the power you are connecting to before hooking up to your RV. It also provides surge protection to your RV.

Question & Answer
Question :
If connected to a receptacle where both Neutral and Hot have power, will it protect it?
Answer :
As long as the surge will not be above 2100 joules, the RV Circuit Analyzer will protect your RV. However, we DO NOT recommend plugging it into a power source where Neutral Wire has power as this means that there is a bad connection somewhere in the power source. Please check your wiring or get professional help to fix it.
Question :
Does this unit reset if tripped?
Answer :
The CARMTEK Rv Circuit Analyzer will reset itself once the problem has been corrected and as long as the surge is under 2100Joules.
However, please note that all surge modules are sacrificial items intended to protect the vehicle's electrical system. Therefore, if the surge will be above 2100 joules the RV Circuit Analyze will sacrifice to protect your RV and will need to be replaced.
You can always check that by checking the "Surge Protection" LED. As long as the led is on, the RV is under surge protection. If the LED will turn off please contact us.
Question :
Is this resettable if you have a surge? Or is this a 1 and done if you take a surge hit?
Question :
is this the recommended protectoin to have when using a dogbone converter from 50 to 30 amps? Or is ther something better that isn't "sacrificial"?
Answer :
I don't know what you mean. What are you sacrificing? It's a 50 to 30 amp adapter. They do sell 50 to 30 amp adapters without a surge protector.
Question :
My van conversion plugs into 15 amp outlet only. Can I use this device with a 30 amp to 15 amp converter? Can’t find a similar device for 15 amps
Answer :
If you've used the 15amp conversion plug on a 30amp plug before, yes.
The surge protector/circuit analyzer don't change voltage, or act as a breaker..
They just analyze the circuit and protect your rv/van, from power surges due to say lighting sticks.
You will still be plugged into the normal 30amp breaker, which means it will supply 120volts at 30amp at the surge protector output end.
Question :
is this UL listed?
Answer :
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. The 30Amp Rv Circuit Analyzer with integrated Surge Protection is a UL-tested product.
Question :
Will this work with a generator?
Answer :
If your Generator has a 30amp reception it will work
