Question: | Will the cutout size in the box be 3 inches for the center tube then just add the flares? |
Answer: | 5 1/4" cutout is confirmed. You can actually use the inner flare end to trace your cutout. It is also exactly 5 1/4" in diameter. |
|
Question: | What is the total diameter of the flared peices? |
Answer: | The 3" precision port has two flared ends. The outside diameter of the smaller (without mounting holes) is 5 and 1/4 inches. The larger (with the 4 screw holes for mounting) is 6 and 1/4 inches. And while we are at it, the length of the 3" tube is exactly 12 inches. So the total length of the tube and flared ends can be as long 18 inches.

Question: | Will this work on a 1.0 cu ft box for a Sundown X8v2 750rms watts or do I need a smaller diameter?' |
Answer: | It should be OK. With a 1ft3 box, the 12” length of this port should yield you about 36hz tuning. And just FYI, you almost always want to go with a more port area, instead of less. But, that is not always feasible with smaller boxes. |
