I would buy again.

In the past I hadn't had luck when buying a short adapter and then connecting a cable to the adapter (if I wiggled the adapter my screen would flicker or turn off) , so instead I buy the full length cable with each end with the correct connector. That's what this is, a full length cable with DVI on one end and Display port on the other end. One solid long cable. I plugged it in and it works perfectly. Just fyi. I am using two 19" square monitors, not wide screen, with a laptop. So one monitor is using VGA to VGA on my laptop and my other monitor is using DVI on the monitor to display port on laptop. With my laptop screen opened, I now have 3 screens.

More elegant than a clunky standalone adapter

I had no idea what a displayport was until I got a new computer and I found this weird looking almost-hdmi-but-not port on the video card. I had to google it to figure out what it was!

I'm too cheap for a new monitor and a pigtail with a heavy adapter hanging off the end was going to look sloppy, not to mention I wasn't sure how the port would hold up with all that weight hanging off it.

Fortunately, this cable was about the same price, is easier to route than my old DVI cable, and works perfectly. Can't ask for a better solution.

Displayport Connectors Fit Side-By-Side On RX570

I had a hard time finally purchasing these DP to DVI cables for a few reasons. Mainly because I wasn't sure if I would need active adapters or if I'd be able to fit them side-by-side on my graphics card. I've learned that I only need passive because my monitors are only 1080p; these only need passive or single-link straight adapters. The DP connectors fit with just enough room to have all three connected side-by-side.

After connecting these to my rig, I was happy that all three displays functioned perfectly.

The build and quality are up to par and fit just fine. I'd purchase these again if I had to.

Rankie is my go to cable company

I have purchased several Rankie cables for my computer company and have been happy with them all. Before buying the Rankie DisplayPort cable I bought one at the local Big Box store. In spite of costing 3 times as much the Big Box version lacked the retention mechanism that is part of the DP cable spec was of obviously much lower quality materials and build. The Rankie has the retainers and is built as expected.

Rankie Rules!

Easy, and the rankie cable with the locking connector ...

I had just purchased a reburbished computer with both vga & DVI ports. 1st DP cable I tried fit loosely and the monitor would go blank when the case was moved. Not having a second dp/DVi cable I was not sure if the fault was the cable or the port on the computer. I ordered this rankie dp/dvi cable with locking connector and it solved the problem. Returned the defective cable to Amazon. Easy, and the rankie cable with the locking connector was 30%cheaper than the other defective cable. Cannot beat that outcome. Sure it cost a couple of days while parts went back and forth, but I never had to leave my office to do it. Love shopping online.

Filled a need and did it well

Moved multiple monitors around and needed a cable from an older unit to my graphics card. These guys make it. Its locked in a fixed position, so I'm not worried about constant flexing or disturbance. The ends fit where they plug in and they plug in securely. And I've seen no problems with transmission or operation. Who could ask for more?

What do you need to know?

What do you need more than it works as advertised. The setup is plug in and screw in. The plug is a little wide for the GPU ports I have a High quality GPU with four display ports they fit snuggly side ny side that could have been mad a little skinner. But the work.

Great cable

It's a cable and has good quality and bend radius. It's not very stiff but it's thick (perhaps it's just very thick plastic vs the wires).

Quick and easy install, not flimsy, connects snuggly and firmly and stays connected.

Nice value for money and serves it’s purpose

The cord works great with my laptop Display port and converts to DVI. Works great. The quality of material is good. Nice value for the money. The cord is a little stiff and I didn’t really need 6 feet but it serves it’s purpose.

Everything worked perfectly on the first try

My Rankie DP to DIV cables worked perfectly. I upgraded my GPU from a Gigabyte Geforce 1060 to a ZOTAC AMP EXTREME GEFORCE GTX1070ti. I use tree monitors (x2 with DVI connections and 1 with HDMI connection). I plugged the DVI ends to the DVI ports on the monitors and the DP end of the cables to the GPU's DP ports (and of course I also connected my HDMI monitor). Everything worked perfectly on the first try. I would recommend to anyone.

Question & Answer

Question :

Is this cable an active or passive cable. so if connecting from dp source to dvi monitor, does the cable do the trasnformation of the signal from dp t

Answer :

The cable handles it. Just know that playback of movies that use HDCP encryption like Blu-Ray disks will not work over this cable as only HDMI and DisplayPort support it. So even though you have this attached to a display port it will fail the HDCP test as it has a DVI on the other end. Other than that little caveat, the cable works fine for all other things. That caveat is not a problem with THIS cable, it is inherent in any cable like this.

Question :

Does this connect to a laptop and a tv without hdmi?

Answer :

Not likeyly, but it depends. This will connect a DisplayPort output to a DVI-D Dual link input.

First, check to see what the output on your computer is. Look a the back of your tower or sides of your laptop for outputs (most likely DP or HDMI, but possibly or DVI or VGA as well). If there is no DP then this is not the cord for you.
Second, check the back/sides of your TV for all inputs. If it does not have a DVI port then this cord is not for you.

Some inputs look similar so make sure that you know the difference in appearance between HDMI, DP, VGA, and the various kinds of DVI. Just to a quick internet search if you are not sure what they look like.

Question :

Computer has vga and dvi only which requires dvi /hdmi adapter cable for fhd. will new monitor with amd/freesync work with cable?to use.

This cable only operates from DP source to DVI. The connection should be DP-computer, and DVI-monitor. We are afraid that this cable is not compatible with your device.

Question :

is this compatible with dell computers

Answer :

It depends. I noticed my older Dell computers do not have a display port connection, but my newer models have it.

Question :

will this cable be able to work with iMac 21.5 inches 2013 connecting to dell ultrasharp monitor as an extra monitor?

Answer :

No iMac only has 4 USB ports and not a DV port. You would need to also get either a DV to USB cable or a connection that is only compatible with USB

Question :

does this work with daisy chained dp monitors?

Answer :

I'm not sure, I used them for a dual display, but used two dp outputs from my PC. I'm not familiar with the process of daisy chaining monitors but these cables are not bidirectional, and only transmit from dp to dvi, not dvi to dp, if that helps at all.
