Let's be honest, those tools many times do not only do what they are supposed to do and make your work better or easier, but they also look good and make you look more pro. This is the case of the mate box. it helps you shooting in the middle of the day with hars sun and reflections everywhere, but it also adds a pro look to you camera. So when people see your setup they think "That camera looks very pro, he must know what he is doing". The filter tray is a plus, specially for those times when you need an ND filter in order to keep a shallow dept of field. The Mate box is super light, adding almost no weight to your setup. So, this was one of the best buys I've done for my video setup. The pics were taken as soon as I opened the box. I haven’t tried without the filter as I prefer to always have the clear filter on my lenses.
