Just Fantastic Microphone for VO

I am a vo guy and have had $1000 mics and $100 mics. For my baritone voice type, the Vintage version has that little forward punch that just sounds good to me. Using it with Scarlett Solo and it is just what I needed! Nice box and shock mount. A great value for the money.. and for more money!

It's very nice sounding mic

I received a broken unit but overall this is an amazing mic for the money. It will be very tough to beat
at this price point. The Vintage Capsule gives out this darker higher mids and honestly for my voice it is perfect. I ended up purchasing this used because received a broken unit but this has nothing to do with the review. I guarantee you that you won't find anything at this price point that compares to the way this mic sounds. Would recommend 100%

Beautiful Sound, Great Price, Great Company

The sound quality is outstanding. While very different from a Shure SM7B (the only other mic I’m very familiar with), I find it preferable for voice overs for my tenor, sibilant voice, and also find it nice that 48v phantom power is sufficient - no need for a CloudLifter. Side address is slightly trickier than direct address, but manageable. I do think buying an additional wind screen is useful for knocking down plosives which still seem a problem, even with the included windscreen - although perhaps this could be managed with better technique.

Good microphone for string instruments

Very nice quality microphone with flat frequency response, specially good for the mid tones, not boomy.

Amazing microphone. No regrets.

This is an amazing microphone for the money. I have a home studio and this microphone matches up with almost any microphone you can buy. It doesn’t have a lot of features, but that’s not a bad thing depending on what your use case is.

Question & Answer

Question :

Would this microphone be suitable for a soft, female alto voice?

Answer :

This microphone has a nice warm voice with a little upper mid bump to add some clarity. I am a bass baritone and it does quite nicely. I am using it with a scarlet solo v3 with the “air” setting to give it some transparency and it is delicious. You never know until you are running it but I think it favors warmer voices, so it may just do the trick!
