Question & Answer
Question :
Will they record longer than 30 minutes at a different speed setting?

The "SP" for these Camcorder Tapes is 30 minutes; of course "SP is short for Standard Play". Standard play allows you to record information onto the tape the way it was intended, with no quality loss. The "EP" is 1 1/2 hours. "LP" (Long Play): LP mode has the longest recording time. However, quality of scenes may be degraded or block noise may appear in scenes with quick movement.
So to answer your question "Will they record longer than 30 minutes at a different speed setting?" Yes that is "EP"
Question :
are these 8mm?
Answer :
No, these are the smaller version of a VHS cassette, ideal for use on Compact VHS camcorders and regular VHS machines if you have the adapter to use with it. These tapes were a popular format for camcorders used in the late '80s to the '90s to enable camcorders to be more compact. The 8mm DVC are about 3/4 the size of the compact-VHS and has evolved the camcorder to an even smaller size than the previous camcorders. The newer camcorders now record on their memory cards and have gotten smaller than the 8mm. These tapes are not compatible/interchangeable with the different camcorders in the market.
