Adds magic without even approaching the tacky territory
Modern lenses are extremely sharp and exceptionally corrected. As a result they usually sport an utter lack of character. This simple filter adds a touch of old school magic while keeping things sharp. Right now it fount its pretty much permanent home on my Fuji X100V.
PS: I hear you asking, can't we just add an effect X in post? Sure we can. But an optical filter doesn't care about dynamic range of your sensor, as it has none of its own. If a highlight is blown, it has no color information, so any effects in post will treat it as pure white. But optical filter doesn't care about brightness - it will give your highlight a softly fading halo, and even if your camera sensor perceives the "epicenter" as 255/255/255, the glow around it will retain color information (which in turn will help Photoshop with highlight recovery).

Love it
While everyone is out there shooting with pro mist filters, there is a whole other world of diffusion filters than nobody is exploring. This is better than the promist and it's cheaper. You don't get the cheesy soap opera effect and according to Tiffen, it has a modern design to it. I can't speak on the other strengths - but you really should try this out, you will be surprised how many better filters there are compared to the promist. Now, I do think every filter has its place - even the promist. I am not advocating one or the other, but for folks to start building a set, each filter has its place for certain shots.

Great filter for a subtle diffusion
Years ago, I bought a Tiffen Soft FX4 from Amazon and was impressed with its quality. I decided to get their Glimmer Glass 1 filter after reading some reviews online. I have to say that I'm very impressed with it. The diffusion from GG 1 is subtle and not overpowering. It's great for smoothing out skin tones and blemishes...particularly for women. A bonus is that if you're using a telephoto lens, the bokeh (at least to my eyes) becomes creamier too (I use the filter on my Canon EOS R with RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens)

Very nice diffusion, more subtle than a black promist.
Very nice diffusion indeed. More subtle than a black promist. I feel it gives this sort of film halation and doesn't lift the blacks as much as black promist. Retains image sharpness well too but it does take the digital sharpness away nicely. Only negative is the funky flare when shooting straight into a light source, then it really starts to glimmer. But then again you should be using some sort of mattebox with these filters anyway, so user error in a way. Now I wish they offered the 1/2 strength for the same great discounted price… Wink wink Tiffen ;)

Amazing filter!
This is an absolute must-have for your street photography camera. The result I got from using it on my Fujifilm X100V is amazing - so good that I just leave it on the camera 100% of the time.

A favorite!
A great filter for light neutral diffusion. I got a #1 but since it doesn't degrade the subject very quick, I will get a #2 as well.

An interestin filter, for sure
I shot video of five singers in performance from about 15' away on an iPhone 12 Pro Max with the Glimmerglass filter. Very pleased with the soft glow around a high clerestory window behind the singers. And the 4K Dolby Vision HDR footage of the singers looks very pleasing. Sharpness is preserved where it matters - eyes, fabric details - while skin is nicely softened but not too much. Males don't look feminized, and the faces of the women singers are softened - again, not too much. Very promising as an all-round video utility filter for $100 less than the Schneider-Kreuznach Hollywood Black Magic.

Glimmer Glass rocks the night exteriors!
I love the way it diffuses the bright light sources in the frame and gives it a beautiful glow. When shooting in low light, Glimmer Glass, in my experience, creates a slightly more pronounced glow than the Soft F/X and Pro Mist diffusers. It doesn't have the disgusting kidney shaped blobs that show up in out-of-focus highlights when using Tiffen's Digital Diffusion either. The GG definitely adds some magic to your bokeh. A great diffuser for night exteriors, live band performances, even some dreamy wedding stuff. I typically use the #1 for 50-135mm lenses and a #3 for anything wider than that.

Great price! Great perfomance!
Bought this from Amazon.com even tough I am located in Italy. Price of these filters here is 3X + the price I bought this one at! Super good deal at 49.00 $ for the 77 mm one.
Perfomance with these filters is great, glimmerglass is best in class.

Question & Answer
Question :
Have a Sony a6400 16-50 mm lens, which size filter would be best for it?
Answer :
You will need 40.5mm Filters. We have a wide range of 40.5mm filters.
Question :
Why is the 82mm dramatically more expensive than the other filters sizes?
Answer :
Much more material (glass and rings) than small filters.
4x4 filter is 100mm; 82mm basically using the same size material. More waste on a round filter than square/ rectangle. Have to get rid of all those weird corners…

Answer :
No, i believe youd need the 77mm to fit the 24-105. Is there a 77GG1?
Question :
Is this circular filter the same as the black glimmerglass filter that’s 4x4.56?
Answer :
82mm is Glimmerglass which is different than Black Glimmerglass. We do have black glimmerglass in 82mm too.
Black Glimmerglass filters offer all of the benefits of the original Glimmerglass filters, PLUS, they subtly remove harsh sharpness from modern lenses, adding a pleasing overall blending to contrast levels.
