Says 700mb but is actually less?

For some reason as the years go by, I am unable to load as many MP3 files on these types of CDs as before. I used to get get more than 140 MP3 files on a cdrw disc. But now lately it shows that there is not 700 megabytes available. It'll show like 560 megabytes available. Are these companies shorting us on a megabytes now but still stating the CD has 700mb?

worked with patience

I had trouble getting my computer to except them. I had to exercise some paience. I could use one to burn, it would read drive Z. I do not have a drive Z. I would have to restart my computer to do a 2nd one. Now this may be my cheapy HP $99.00 computer, and not the disk...I do not know. It made crisp, clear copies, and my CD player plays them with no issues. I would by again. I gave 3 stars on presentation because I do not know of or saw a presentation.

Works great with my automotive stereo deck and mp3 files

I. Bought these solely to use as CDs to transfer mp3 files to for use in an older Panasonic stereo deck I installed in my beater with a heater truck.

I saw other reviews saying these were not working in their CD players. But these work perfectly fine for me.

I saved as a data CD not a music CD because I wanted the more compact storage.

Verbatim CD-RW Discs

These are fantastic discs! I used them for music and one as a recovery disk for my new Sony VAIO. These are definitely quality discs. In this package comes 5 CDs with their own little case and a little sheet that you can write what's on the CD or whatever you'd like. I didn't read the title completely in the beginning saying there are only 5 but hey it happens. I am going to look for more Verbatim discs so I can put music in them and listen to them in my car which has a Bose sound system and it really brings out the best out of it so I'm really satisfied with these discs.

I do hope my review helps anyone interested in this product, feel free to leave a comment if you'd like!

Regards,

Andrew Ramirez

Verbatim 95157 700 MB 4x-12x 80 Minute Silver Rewritable Disc CD-RW

Brought these after having somehow burned at three unreadable data disc using always reliable software and burner of another very popular CD-RW brand that all the stores seem to only carry and didn't want to waste whole heap of what little money I had at the time on a ton of bad blank media. Needless to say, my fear was wholly unfounded. Outside the mild bang up of the shipping package, these babies not only burned correctly but proved themselves readable on multiple computers running different OSes. Kudos to the seller for having these at a very very reasonable price, decent shipping time and for selling media still in jewel cases as I'm never a fan of spindle packaging. Will buy from this seller again when able. Thanks for helping me get a job done.

Repeat business

I have used these RW discs in the past many times. Great quality and price.

Yeah, pretty standard.

They're pretty garden variety rewritable CDs. They work well and are easy to use. I bought this set to send mix CDs to my long distance boyfriend. The CDs have well outlived the relationship, if that counts for anything...lol

Works

They work and are a good price. I have a car that only takes CD's so the value for money here is great. Plus I can rewrite them whenever I get bored of the same songs, works for me!

Works Great as Boot Disk

I have a pc that is so old that the motherboard doesn't support USB booting, so I got these to use as boot disks to install Linux on it. They worked great, no complaints.

Question & Answer

Question :

can I copy pictures that I have on my computer on these? and if I copy a folder of pictures can I delete the ones I don't want?

Answer :

If you are wanting to photos and files on the CD, Don't use the CD-RW at all. for document and photos and music related go with the DVd+R, does everything wo much better and is a larger size for photos and documents. If you are wanting to back up all your photos, music, documents, favorites (for internet) Purchase an external hard drive with at least 5TB. Then either do what I do on always having mine with me, or put in locking firesafe (I back mine up every week)

Question :

I used one of these disc and recorded lecture (from macbook pro), but my car's cd player did not read it. it brings a message "check disc"

Answer :

Gotta agree with other person. RW discs can be fickle with older units. They really should be used as 'work' cds for projects before you burn a 'final' disc to a regular cd. That's what I use them for. Car cd players are tricky with even different brands of regular blank media (at least my last two car players were).

Question :

can I copy music cds?

Answer :

Ues

Question :

how many files can you put on a disk?

Answer :

Depends totally on how big the files are. 700mbps worth.

Question :

can i burn music on this item and use in MP-3 player?

Answer :

Yes you can burn music on these, not sure if you can use MP 3

Question :

Please help. Trying to burn pictures/ docs to this disc. But it won't let me. It says: 2.47GB is needed and there is 702 MB available. Windows 8.1

Answer :

Sounds like you are trying to burn to a CD which max's out at 700mb (megabytes) give or take. You need to burn to a DVD which can hold 4.7gb (gigabytes). Check to see if your burner (and software) can handle DVD media. Buy some blanks, and try that.

Question :

Can i copy purchased albums from itunes so i can listen to then in my Bose cd/ radio?

Answer :

It depends if it is copy writed or not.

Question :

Can I burn my pics onto these CDs plus videos too?

Answer :

I don't know the answer because I gave them as a gift. But, I would expect you could use them for pix at the very least.

Question :

Are this item a compatible recording medium with my JVC XL-R5000 Compact Disc Recorder (a stereo component)?; In no way is it a computer peripheral.

Answer :

If your Compact Disc player can record, this CD is capable of being written to many times unlike the CDs that can only be written to once.

Question :

I want to transfer pics from my computer to disc. I have tried two of these so far but my computer says it was unable to format the disc. Why?

Answer :

They should come already formatted and ready to write to. I think reformatting would ruin them.
