Great for making dipole antennae ...
These are excellent for making dipole antennae, or other applications where you need to solder to both conductors. Much better for that application than the surface / panel mount type.

Best quality connectors in this price class
The design and quality of these connectors is excellent. I particularly like the center pin coupling design. It grips very firmly and should not become loose with normal use. If it did, it should be easy to tighten up as the outer edge of the gripping fingers are visible. It's hard to beat these for the price. Of course, you can buy overall better connectors for over 10x the money. Then you'd get silver/gold. That would be extreme overkill for UHF connectors in all but the most demanding situations, and even then, I'm dubious you could measure any difference at all.

They work
I don't have any oscilloscope data / crazy science charts or whatever but I can say that they worked for me on my antenna run that I scabbed two separate lengths of RG8x to make it happen. I'm sure there are "better" ones out there but these work just fine for this guy. 73.

good connector for a standard PL259
I bought the wrong format, but works fine for my marine radio. If you need a PL259, make sure you buy the right form factor, they will all work, it's just a matter of wire connections, etc.

Hope this is perfect.
Galled threads on an SO-239 forced me to replace it on a three way antenna switch. I hope this is fine.
Question & Answer
Question :
Are instructions provided or is it off to You Tube?
Answer :
Check YouTube, for sure. Make sure you have the right crimping die!!
Question :
are these D-Flat on the panel hole?
Answer :
There is a flat spot but I only have around punch and they work very well cinched up tight
Question :
is the center core Teflon or some other plastic that will melt?
Answer :
I bought the bulkhead version of this (threaded instead of the four screw holes) and it definitely melted after soldering, which caused the center pin to spin when attempting to connect it to the male connection. Not sure if chassis mount will have the same issue, but seems likely.
Question :
What's the width of it?
Answer :
Actual measurement is 691 in which is a little under a 5/8 and that's the hole I use and it works great
Question :
How do you connect the shield? I can't find instructions anywhere. The comments for this connector appear to relate to other connectors (crimp).
Answer :
The tab ring is what would connect to the shield of the cable that is plugged in to the SO329, but typically bulkhead connectors just use standard wire on the soldered connections on the back (preferably as short as possible) so serve as the transition from the cable outside the panel, to the electronic components inside the panel. And if the panel/enclosure is metal the entire thing will act as part of the shield since the body of the connector, tab ring, and retaining nut are all in contact.
If you need to connect shielded cable to the back you probably would want to use a crimp connector instead of a bulkhead. Or use a female-to-female bulkhead connector if you want to run coax inside the enclosure as well.
Question :
What size rod will fit that center pin hole?
Answer :
Pl259 pin is .156 in which is 5/32
Question :
What kind of crimper tool do i need for the pl-259 male connector?
Answer :
Question :
Lmr400 and rg8x are not the same size, this title is misleading?
Answer :
PL259 Crimp Connector can be used well for Lmr400 and rg8x coaxial cable, mainly because of the small difference in crimping process.
