I recently switched from a 3 year old desktop to an amazing AMD content creator machine with a shiny 6900XT GPU.
Right about that same time, I upgraded from an older unit to a 65” Samsung QN85A, which has one HDMI 2.1 port and I intended to natively run my computer as my daily device for my cable box and most importantly, from the computer.
I went through 2 cables that I would set with software to run at 4k and 120hz. Then I would check the Windows graphics advanced settings, and it showed the TV at its constant resolution and refresh rate. The first one would work for a while, and I would load up a game or anything that took a large amount of resources. After playing, I would check my FPS avg and it would always be 59-60. Going back to advanced controls, Windows bumped it down.
So I tried another, and it worked similarly. It’s hard to find a good 10-15’ HDMI that can hold all the 2.1 upgrades farther than 6’. I started looking for an “active” HDMI, which are usually very expensive, and Amazon recommended this one, and ever since I’ve plugged it in. It’s ran full blast 120hz and my TV hooked to my computer setup let’s me stream more content than cable ever got me, plus I still switch to the box when I can’t get a certain channel and something live is on TV, and I want to watch it live.
So my computer runs great, TV is amazing, calibrated correctly it’s got great detail and is incredibly bright. I watched native 4k drone footage that I shot with my drone at the beach and some other places. That native 4K source, the picture is crystal clear and I usually keep it off but it can simulate 4K at 240hz, but you get the soap opera effect. It works good for certain things, not everyday TV/Movie that is sim motioned giving it that effect which I dislike.
Overall, this cable did its job from the first time it was plugged in, it’s been working close to 3 months and never loses frame rate, and I’ve been getting better results on FPS, most of my games will hit 100-150 and some esports and other titles, I have averaged sessions with just about 200 fps and it looks fantastic. I’d you are looking to get full 2.1 experience and you have a run that is longer than standard, I recommend this cable 100%.
