This is perfect Thank You
I had purchased a similar base from a large online astronomy shop that didn't fit and then another from a major online photography store, neither of them fit and they said they would... Enter AstromaniaOptics.com here on Prime. The details they put to select the proper size and measurements and the type of telescope they fit is highly intelligent and provides all the information needed to make an informed decision. The product itself has real attention to detail also in the machining of where the screws will rest once tightened. They actually cut out beyond the edge so the head of the screw will rest all the way down in a complete slot as it should. This detail was the reason the other two bases failed, they were poorly done. The only issue I had was the included screws did not fit but the 10-24x.75" size I needed was easy enough to get at the local hardware. I expect this to be a great summer and look forward to using this. My ASI AirPro in red is where the base is being used. Thank you for really caring about your customers.

Fits like a glove!
For anyone with a Celestron NextStar 8Se SCT, have no doubts, this dovetail base fits perfect. First, the two machine screws come off the optical tube factory finder base. Secondly place the new base in position and replace the factory screws into the tube. Wala, your done. The two screws supplied with the new finder base must be for other applications. My red dot finder lined up better than ever. The horizontal range is enough to line up objects perfectly, the vertical is close enough for all practical purposes. I like having two hold downs screws V.S. one. Its feels more secure. I'm totally pleased with this finder base. Get one, you won't regret.

Fits perfect
I had purchased a pair of astronomy binoculars and as I improved the lenses found I was in need of a finder scope. The binoculars had two threaded holes for a bracket, however after repeated emails to the vendor and no answer I took a plunge with this base. completely adjustable in an x-y plane this not only fit perfect, the enclosed screws matched the thread and size. Couldn't be happier. One should note that in addition to the screws there are nuts as well allowing this to fit a plate too. Will likely buy at least one more.
It arrived on time, was as described, and had an enclosed customer service card. Thank you Astromania Optics.

Right product at the right price
I needed a wide bracket for my Celestron NexStar 8SE to mount a StarSense camera.
This bracket was just what I needed. It is well made: anodized aluminum, took 3mns to install and
is just what I needed. The Item arrived promptly.
I'll keep this seller in my address book should I need more similar items.

Perfect fit fo Meade LX200GPS
Perfect Bracket. Very Pleased. Purchased the Astromania Schmidt-Cassegrain Finder Scope Base. It fit my 10" Meade LX200GPS bracket screw hole placement span perfectly. Good strong bracket. I bought a new green laser that was thicker and required a larger ring laser clamp. This required a different dovetail bracket. the Astromania Schmidt-Cassegrain Finder Scope Base was at the right price.

Another great accessory from Astromania.
If you are a serious stargazer or hard corps astronomer, you have never have too many attachment accessories for a new spotting scope or attaching a StarSense AutoAlign tool, these attachments are a must.

Nice finder shoe for Astro-Tech AT72EDII
Astro-Tech finder shoes have been in short supply. After picking up an AT72EDII, I ordered the Astromania shoe. Fits perfect on the AT72 using the screws supplied with the scope. The screws that come with the shoe may be too long for the AT72, I wouldn't try to use them.

All being said the base provided a nice sturdy mount point for the new scope
I purchased this mount for a Meade lxd-75 10" Schmidt -Newtonian scope. I was able to have it fully installed in about 15 minutes. The only installation problem I had was that I needed to purchase slightly longer mount screws(3/4in) and I had to elongate one of the holes 1-2 mm closer so the mount would seat properly. All being said the base provided a nice sturdy mount point for the new scope. I liked the fact that it was pretty universal and also had 2 lockdown screws for the dovetail base vs a single screw on some products

Solid aluminum body, the best red dot finder
I have used few other red dot finders, not good as they are made of plastic. This one is made of aluminum, solid and does not loses alignment as I take it off or put it on my Celestrin EdgeHD 800 scope. I am really impressed with the build quality. It offers switchable reticles in red and green lights. The reticle LED is powered by a single CR1032 battery.
The reticle has several bightness levels, however, the lowest of the setting is too high at night. I am planning to tame it down by putting a tiny sliver of dark photo negative film. The brightest setting is visible well in day light. Overall, it is a great value for money.

Great base for DIY Finderscope Mounts
I bought this for my Celestron Astromaster 114EQ Newtonian Telescope! The telescope came with a Red Dot Finder, which was plastic, extremely opaque, and difficult to use. I decided I was going to buy another finderscope for it, but I needed a way to mount it to the telescope, since the Celestron Astromaster 114EQ had it's fiderscope permanently mounted. I bought a Celestron Starpointer Pro and this Dovetail Base for it and went to work.
After removing the old Red Dot Finder, I drilled a couple of holes into my telescope and attached this Dovetail Base to it. This Universal Dovetail mount was a perfect fit for both my telescope and the Celestron Starpointer Pro Finderscope that I purchased for it. Now I can finally spend less time trying to find things, and spend more time actually looking at the objects in the night sky! Plus there is the added benefit that now I can change the finderscope at my own leisure, if I feel inclined to do so in the future!

Question & Answer
Question :
Will this fit the Celestron edge 8"?
Answer :
On my Edge 8 the hole spacing on top of the scope (where the finder is) is barely too wide to accommodate this bracket. There is a set of holes towards the bottom of the scope that seems to accommodate this bracket, but if you mount a guide scope (for example) there, you will be running into the mount (at least an AVX). You can mount on top of the scope with a single screw, but you don't really want to do that for a tight connection.
So I have to say no, this does not really fit on an edge 8 the way you would like it to.
Question :
Will the bracket fit one of the original Celestron C8 (orange tube)?
Answer :
Yes it will if holes line up.
Question :
What spacing should i order for a celestron 8se?
Answer :
The Celestron 8se has screw holes that are spaced approximately 37-38mm apart. So this product *might* fit if you get the 37.3mm spacing. But you're cutting it VERY close, which is why there are so many conflicting reports from 8se users - some say it works but others say it doesn't. If you force the screw in at a slight angle, it may fit but at the risk of ruining the screw threads.
Astromania makes another finder base (Astromania Universal Quick Release Finder Shoe Base for Schmidt Cassegrains and Other Telescope) with spacing 24-41mm which will fit the 8se easily. So if you have an 8se, definitely buy the other finder base instead of this one.
Question :
This will work with the televue quick release dovetail qrd 1006?
Answer :
Yes. I have the televiewers adapter on my televise solsearcher and this works fine with it.
Question :
Can this be attached to an edge 11 and then can it take a 60mm bracket from a zwo 60mm or similar?
Answer :
A zwo 50mm-60mm will fit. I don't know a about
a C-11 hole spacing. Mine is mounted on a custom
bar for a 12" Cass
Question :
Does this fit screw holes on meade ls-8 ota? do i need to drill new holes?
Answer :
I'm not sure what the hole size of the Meade. But I didn't even use the screws it came with. I used the screws that were already on my WO z61 that acted as place holders for a bracket. There are Resesed groves on this bracket that the head of the screw fits as to not interfere with the mount that would fit the bracket. If you don't have screws you could always get some from your local hardware store that fit
Question :
Does this fit on a meade etx-125pe?
Answer :
I would imagine -- it is somewhat universal. I am unsure for that particular scope.
Question :
can you use a 1/4" screw ?
Answer :
The bracket came with two 1/4-20 cap screws and two 5mm flat head screws with nuts. Do be careful not to over tighten because the bottom is not thick and can bend.
Question :
Will this fit the nexstar 8se ?
Answer :
Not sure about the Nexstar 8 SE. I have a Nexstar 6SE and the mount will fit... however, the included screws are too big (wide) for the holes in the scope. You can't used the screws that came with the scope because they have a round head that would prevent the finder scope from slipping into the dovetail. The included screws have a flat, tapering head allowing them to be recessed into the slot on the bracket allowing the finder scope to slide in.
Question :
I have a 90s Celestar 8 with 32mm spacing holes. This says 30.2mm spacing but the drawing shows almost 35mm. Will this not fit a 32mm spacing?
Answer :
I just measured mine, and the milled out area spans 35mm. Depending on the size of the screws you use, it would probably work. Don't be stalking me if it doesn't though, lol.
