Much Better Than Reviews Would Have You Believe

Excellent design; easy to hold, works great. Contrary to comments by some that the battery tray is flimsy, the battery tray is well designed and more that adequately strong for its intended purpose. Of course, if I backed over it with my car, it would break. Others have complained about how batteries fit into the tray. Too bad they did not read the directions. Batteries lock into the tray exactly like they lock into the battery charger ... by using slots on the sides of the battery. They firmly latch into the tray and do not fall out if the tray is inverted. This is great for changing batteries in the field; you don't want them dropping into the mud. To remove batteries from the tray, you press the small release tab beside each battery and it pops right out. Could not be easier. My recommendation is to ignore the negative reviews. If this grip suits your purpose, go for it.

Take normal care when loading and unloading and all will be fine. And yes two batteries in this camera makes ...

It is Canon hardware what else can I say. Yes the slide in battery tray is light plastic. But it is protected by the battery grip housing. Take normal care when loading and unloading and all will be fine. And yes two batteries in this camera makes it heavy. Just remember Newton's laws of motion. Things at rest tend to stay at rest until acted on by an outside force. Hold it steady and Isaac will be your monopod.

Worth the investment for avid shooters...

I’ve purchased a battery grip for all of the 5d’s I’ve owned. All have worked great, and this is no exception. Others have noted the lighter build of the battery tray itself. It does seem less solid as previous versions, however it works great and I haven’t had any issues with it. If you’re a continuous buyer of Canon’s battery grips, this will suit you just the same. If this is your first grip, it’s definitely worth the investment if you like to shoot portrait a lot and could use the convenience of extra battery life.

Battery grips are great on DSLRs!

Battery grips are great on DSLRs! The biggest benefit is comfort of shooting in the "portrait" orientation. With grips, I find I shoot in "portrait" orientation much more often. Without the grips, I find I shoot less in "portrait" orientation, BUT upon editing, I have to crop into "portrait" orientation, wasting much of the camera's resolution.

Canon grips are MUCH better built than 3rd party grips, BUT are MUCH more expensive.

I think its a necessity

It gives you worry free shooting from a battery use perspective and really fits nicely in my hand, and the vertical buttons are nicely designed. Worth the weight. It makes the camera bigger but you can easily pop it on or off.

Don't waste your money on knock-offs. Do it right and chose this one.

Yes you can find a knock-off for much cheaper just like I did. In the end it cost me a $100 and a gig due to the failure of my knock-off. So i bought canons and it feels and works much better. I mean you can really tell a knock-off when you get your hands on this one. It's perfectly in unison of the camera and hand. Just get it. You'll thank me or whoever paid for it ;)

Better Than Expected After Reading Other Reviews

An excellent add-on for the Canon 5D Mark IV... I had read the other comments before purchasing about the carrier tray for the batteries and was pleased that it was much better than I had expected considering everyone's remarks. The only thing I don't like is the price of over $300.

Review Canon 5dmarkiv battery grip BG-E20!

(see images) Pros: no probs with order/delivery. arrived w/good timing. boxed well, all appropriate papers noted inside. secured well. Price was great. Quality is great. Fits easily/accurately for 5d mark iv. Easy to install (i searched on youtube). Feels very well built. Cons: none. I only gave 4 of 5 stars only because the battery life in general is not amazing. but not the grips fault. Otherwise 5 of 5 stars. Highly recommended, and i would buy same product from same company again without hesitation.

Big Man Battery Charger, the absolute lad.

This is the boy right here! So much better of a design over the ones for the older 5Ds where the batteries load from the back and has no weather sealing, this one seems much more weatherproof which is what I needed it for.

Great product, easy loading, and the battery life is great too.

Great battery life

I purchased this for my boyfriend’s Canon, he loves it. It helps so much with his photo shoots so he doesn’t have to stop and replace or charge batteries. Would defiantly recommend for anyone doing longer photo shoots

Question :

Question :

Does it work on the canon 80d?

Question :

How long will this last using my canon 5d marks iv as a webcam?

Answer :

The Canon Battery Grip BG-E20 holds two batteries (versus the one battery that the camera would typically hold). To answer your question, it would last either twice as long as you get in using one camera battery - or, the equivalent amount of time that you currently get by using each of the two batteries that you intend to use in the battery grip. Other factors also affect the length of time, such as use of autofocus.

Question :

How do you cover the electric contact in storage

Answer :

My grip cam in the box with a removable plastic cover over the electric contacts.

Question :

Will the bg-e20 battery grip work on my 5d mark iii ?

Answer :

This grip will not work on a 5D Mark III. (The mounting screw of a BG-E20 will not line up onto the older 5D Mark III, so you can't try it anyway.) That camera requires a BG-E11.

Question :

Can you use an l bracket with this grip?

Answer :

Yes, you can. There are several offers out there. I have just found one at $175. Just google "bg-e20 and l bracket"

Question :

Why did this go from $199 to $299?

Answer :

Its like everything else. selling less charging more. When I bought my first grip, it was around $65.00
