Great piece of aluminum alloy!
I save a few $ by buying an open box item. Amazing improvement over no-wedge days for sure. I think this is a nice step forward in my astro imaging adventure before getting a dedicated EQ mount eventually (I can't expect too much from a single fork Evolution mount in long term). It makes 8-15" unguided exposures almost streak free. 30" not so much. Need to try with more ref points than one next time I am out :) Also its extra added weight absorbs vibrations nicely and makes whole setup more stable. Pro tip: you will need an illuminated cross hair eyepiece for your polar alignments!

Excellent wedge for nexstar 6se/8se or Evolution series telescopes
This is an excellent, heavily built wedge! I purchased it for my Celestron nexstar 6se and was very impressed with its solid construction and nice design. I have a wedge for my 12" Meade lx200 classic that is just a collection of metal slabs bolted together which Meade thought was high design in its day, this one however actually has some nice touches to it when contrasted with my old lx wedge. The anodized parts add a nice touch of color and the hooks for hanging the hand controller are thoughtful but maybe placed a little far back on the wedge. There are cutouts to reduce weight but they add a nice touch of design. The azimuth adjustment controls are awesome for when you need to dial in a fine adjustment while polar aligning. I'm excited to start using this and look forward to many nights of astrophotography using the excellent 6se and it's amazing optics.

Well built and packaged.
It's a telescope mount wedge. Well built great finish
Easy adjustments with teflon spacers under the flat washers on adjustment bolts.
One minor problem: The latitude scale was mounted upside down. Easy fix with a #2 Phillips screw driver.
Overall a good product.

Perfect for my Nexstar Evolution 8
Well built, very solid wedge. Perfect for my Nexstar Evolution 8. Just make sure to tighten down everything after polar alignment has been achieved.

Question & Answer
Question :
Does using the wedge effect how star alignment is performed?
Answer :
It does. You will now use the Equatorial Alignment process, and you will also perform a polar alignment of your mount. It takes a little bit of practice, and you'll want to have the latest software updates downloaded to your telescope.
Question :
Does this allow you to control the scope manually? or do you still have to use the computer hand controller?
Answer :
You didn't say which telescope. If it is a NexStar SE, then the hand control is your only option. If it is a NexStar Evolution, you could conceivable release the clutches and move the telescope by hand. I am not sure why you would want to, as there is no provision for slow motion control outside of the hand control. Does this help?
Question :
Warranty? also are the screws too long for the nexstar 8se?
Answer :
The Celestron wedge for the NexStar Evolution/SE comes with a 2-Year Warranty. All hardware is compatible to use with the NexStar 8SE telescope.
Question :
Is it support 4SE?
Answer :
The 4se and 5se both have a wedge built into them.
Question :
When the wedge is used, will my scope work (visually) like my old C8? Can I just plug in scope, turn motor on, and observe by just slewing hand cont.?
Answer :
You're going to have to align the wedge to the celestial equator. Also, there is something, I think in Scope Setup or Utilities, to change the tracking from Alt-Az to EQ North. Use the EQ North Align just like you'd use the regular align after that.
Question :
Will this mount work with a vintage classic orange celestron 5? the mounting holes in the c5 are closer together than the c8.
Answer :
I know that the bolts move 1" in either direction fot fitting.
Question :
Where can I find instructions to perform equatorial and polar alignments using this wedge?
Answer :
Celestron web site and you tube
Polar alignment is what the wedge is for
Look up tut hill alignment scope
Question :
When using this wedge, how could i polar align and star align using the skyportal wifi module using the skysafari app?
Answer :
In SkyPortal settings ... after connecting to telescope choose equatorial mount .... then simply follow directions on app. Last step all star polar align is easy using knobs on wedge
Question :
Will this work with the nexstar 102? it’s the refractor model. mounts underneath don’t seem to match this? i could be wrong.
Answer :
I would think the answer is NO..... From Celestron : "Celestron's HD Pro Wedge is designed to support our fork mounted Schmidt Cassegrain Telescopes up to 11". The HD Pro Wedge provides a heavy duty, stable platform that is perfect for astroimaging and guarantees minimal vibration. A low latitude range of 0-90 degrees makes this wedge functional for use at the equator." IS the 102 a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope? Regards
Question :
Will this wedge work with an 8" dual fork SCT?
Answer :
manual says this: NexStar Evolution 6, 8, 9.25, (works with
CPC Tripod for 9.25 model), NexStar SE 6/8
