but found using my eye was the best way to get the most consistent skin tones
I've been a photographer for 9 years and have had grey cards, the datacolor passport, expo discs etc, but found using my eye was the best way to get the most consistent skin tones. Though with some natural light, it was tough! Especially when overly bright. Using the grey card side, this tool has the perfect skin tones when using to set custom white balance with my Nikon d850. Not sure if its the combo or just the right shade of grey (yes, its different tone than my other grey card). Anyways, the last 4-5 sessions have had perfect skin tones that match across the spectrum with only exposure adjustment (I like a little brighter).

Works Great!! really cuts down on the post production time.
Works Great!! and really cuts down on the post production time. When using different cameras the color can be slightly off to a great deal off, even with the same camera bodies. By making color corrected presets for each one, your photos closely resemble each other. I do recommend watching the videos on using the product for the first time( its just easier). This is the first step to color correction for your photos, Second is to edit them on a color calibrated monitor( a high quality monitor where the color output is 100% of sRGB, and as close to 100% of Adobe RGB really helps) Finally either send your photos off to a lab for printing or buy Spyder print and calibrate your printer.

Improved my pictures with easy workflow
I should have bought into the DataColor system long ago. Improved your work and makes professional printing a breeze - if you get the whole system and calibrate. Pays for itself instantly.

An important step towards better photos
The additional color correction for skin tones was worth upgrading for portrait work.
Other styles of photography may be able to get away with the 24 color version, which is less expensive and may work well enough.

Fantastic Color Matcher for Video and Photo
I love this thing! My favorite part is being able to use this to match my cameras. I was able to get a very close match when trying to match my GH5 and my iPhone. I have no regrets about this product.

Question :
How to tell if you have a contaminated card?
Answer :
On the SpyderCHECKR24, a visual inspection will help.
However if you use SpyderCHECKR with the 48 patches, you could use the FadeCheckr indicator
Question :
Does this work with ps elements 14? i have adobe camera raw but cant find the preset in ACR after i save it.
Answer :
Apparently, there's a much bigger difference in camera Raw for Photoshop then there is in camera raw for elements. I did not know the answer so I downloaded a trial copy of elements 14 and found camera raw to be vastly different then the camera raw I'm able to use. "basically" my camera raw is Lightroom inside of Photoshop, the camera raw that I witnessed in elements 14 is missing two thirds of all of the controls and applications I can use. so unless there's another way to get a higher-end level of camera raw (I believe it is version 9.5.1.595; the version in elements was "for me" was 9.1.0.441) , then the answer I'm sorry to say is no it will not work. Which is a shame it can really cut down on the editing time. I use the subscription form of Photoshop about $ 10 a month
Question :
Can you download the software from the website, as I dont have a cd port?
Answer :
Yes you can.
Question :
does this calibrate my screen or my software?
Answer :
It calibrates your software, or I should say you set up a preset, for instance I use Lightroom 6, I have a couple of presets I already calibrated that I click on. Spyder checker fixed a problem I was having when I went o publish to a print company
Question :
What software does this work with?
Answer :
It comes with a license for Datacolor's calibration software and will output color profiles. It integrates directly with Adobe Lightroom, importing a profile as a selectable filter.
Question :
Can it be used to check or calibrate a scanner?
Answer :
Hi Max,
the SpyderCHECKR / SpyderCHECKR 24 does not come with a functionality to check / calibrate a scanner.

Question :
where is this product made?
Answer :
Datacolor is an American company, but has international reach... You'd have to confirm with them where their manufacturing is done if that's what is important to you.
Question :
Can you 1st calibrate your camera and then calibrate your monitor by taking a pic of this card shown on your monitor? Theorizing -not a photographer.
Answer :
Not that I'm aware of. This card helps build color correction profiles in Photoshop/Lightroom etc. It changes photos that are already taken, not the camera itself. I doubt there's any way around buying a colorimeter for monitor calibration.
