Great for all kinds of close-up work!

These lenses fit the Donegan headpiece and, together, comprise a great way to continue to do close-up work even when your native vision starts to fail. Makes seeing what I’m soldering easy again! The lenses and headset can be used without taking your glasses off. In fact, they complement your glasses. The headpiece is designed so that the lenses are easily flipped up and down when needed. Interchangeable lenses provide a range of magnifications and focal distances. Highly recommended!

No more eye strain!

I have been using the number 7 lens for gem faceting and those are not quite strong enough for me to easily see the meetpoints for the facets. (Small fractions of a mm accuracy) These arrived today and I put them into the extra visor I have and gave them a test run. I couldn't be happier! The depth of field is very shallow and you need to pull whatever you are looking at very close, but for what I'm doing, it's perfect. Before, my eyes would get fatigued and take a few minutes to be able to focus at a distance when I removed the visor. Today I had no issues at all and was working on a piece for a few hours. The glass is high quality and easy to clean. Now to find a better light...

Optivisor lenses - easy to use, great clarity and a must have for aging eyes.

I already own the 1.75x, and wanted more magnification for certain tasks and thus purchased the 2.5x magnifier.- now I just grab the one I need for the job and it is ready to go.

Optivisor optics are clear and true - I am very pleased with the clarity of their optics - they are true and coma-free all the way to the edge of the field of view.

Also, for my aging eyes they are a great tool for certain types of bench tasks where I need a little aid - whether it is working on electronics, soldering a small joint, inspecting a broken part I am trying to repair... of course there are many uses for a magnifier. And a magnifier that is hands free, one that can be flipped up when not in use, and is comfortable to wear... well, that is why I can recommend the Optivisor (and alternate attachment lenses) to anyone!

Now I am trying to decide if I want another lens to swap out at even higher power for those times I REALLY want to "blow something up".

Thanks for reading!

Excellent & Great Quality!

Donegan Opivisors are Great! Sturdy & Good Quality. I've had a couple other Brands that were basically junk.
Bought this for more magnification (Also use with the Swing 2.5X Lense) and works excellent.
Would be nice if they offered a Wired version though. Convienient but, Batteries only last a few hrs.
I rewired mine to a ($6) 3vdc/1A wall Supply, so only limitation is Bulb Life.

When you need maximum magnification, these lens are all you need.

I do a lot of modeling at 1/144 scale and these lens really bring things up close and personal. You have to bee around 4 inches from what you are looking at but for really tiny things I found that isn't a problem at all. I know some have complained about the working distance. I suppose they don't understand that these are magnifying lens, not a telescope. For those of you who do detail work, you will really appreciate these.

Get up close to see tiny things huge!

Previously ordered the LP2 lense and it was what I needed for close-up detail, this LP10 is perfect, in fact was able to see a extremely small thorn from my thumb, could see it plain as day, perfect!

Donegan OEM Quality

Bought this 3 diopter (1.75x magnification) to replace the 10 diopter lens that was in my headband. The increased focal length (from 4-in to 14-in) is much appreciated while still being plenty of magnification for soldering 24 gauge wire into mini 8 pin DIN fittings.

Optivisor 1.75x Lens

I bought a Donegan unit to replace a cheap generic headset magnifier with plastic lenses. The difference in optic quality makes the purchase one of the best I have made in years of building plastic models. My only gripe relates to lens spacing as I find the lenses to be a fraction too close together for my eye spacing. As the lenses are glass there is no way to change the spacing. The 2.5x lenses were slightly more powerful than I needed so I added this set of 1.75x lenses and they are perfect for normal use, with the 2.5x set in reserve for very close detailed work.
Product is recommended for anyone needing magnification for detail work.

exactly what i wanted

had the headset for years with plastic lens, short focal length, this is perfect for those times when you just need magnification, esp for electronics and splinters!!

We really like the 1.75 Magnification. This is a good lens pair for work 8-14 inches from your face.

These lenses come with nice plastic retaining fasteners that push 'n' click right into your Donegan headset. You don't need to use the nuts and bolts that may have come with the original headset. I assume the nuts and bolts in my original were to secure the quite heavy 3x lenses so they would not slip out. These are "real" ground glass lenses. Not plastic.

Question & Answer

Question :

I understand the blue frame is plastic - but are the lenses themselves glass or acrylic?

Answer :

Not sure this is the case. Description clearly states "optical-grade, acrylic lens ground and polished into a prismatic lens". The DA series is supposed to be glass lenses where the LX series are the acrylic.... difference is massive in both optical quality and price. (LX lensplates are usually less than 18$). I would make a point to have seller absolutely confirm this before spending twice the $ and having to do returns etc....

Question :

This is misleading. Photo shows Donegan glass lens plate but specifies acrylic. What is going on?

Answer :

Donegan Optical Company LP-10 is a glass lens plate for the OptiVisor.
The frame around the lens plates in acrylic.

Question :

Need stronger lens

Answer :

If you have an #4 lens there are 3 stronger lens #5, #7 and #10

Question :

Are the attatchment screws or pins included? If not, where can they be found?

Answer :

Yes. Pins are on the lens and it just snaps in place.

Question :

Is it just for one lens only

Answer :

Hello - yes, 1 lens. Thank you - Tony

Question :

I have an optivisor DA-5 Would an LP-3 work in mine. I don't know if there is a difference between DA & LP can anyone help thanks.

Answer :

The LP-3 should work in your DA-5.

Question :

The description says this is a replacement lense for a 5 diopter lense, but the picture shows 10. Is it 5 or 10?

Answer :

10 is a stock picture of the 10 (3.5 power). If you order the 5, you should get the 5 (2.5 power) lens. I have the 10 and the 3. Very good quality BTW. These are glass lenses not plastic.

Question :

Hello. i need to buy the lens (number 4 and 5) and receive them in miami. do you have with this diopters? and can you send them to miami?

Answer :

Yes we sell lens 4 and 5 and when you check out you have to enter the miami address youbwant it to ship to

Question :

Is it just for onone

Answer :

This listing is just for one slide of lenses.

Question :

Are the lenses indeed ***acrylic*** as descrived and not glass? Maybe the esteemed seller will at last bother to give a trustworthy answer?

Answer :

You are correct they are plastic lenses, If you are like me as soon as you put them on you will need to scratch your eyes, and if you do something will get on the inside of your lens. So my opinion is , spend the money and buy the glass lenses. You will save money and the annoyance .
