Fotodiox is A+ quality, this item is excellent.

Fotodiox is easily a brand name that I,( a 20 yr veteran ), will turn to, understanding that every company (almost), has inexpensive, and HD accessories . Know the difference, I hate, reviews of $10,$20, etc items that would otherwise be $80+~$200 in a Brand brand name, that bash it's 'build quality's, THEN END WITH, You get what you pay for. You DO , rate it accordingly , but like in this case understand what you are reviewing. Threading 'Step up / down', rings is a precise machine process. Add coating and I've literally bought ones that don't fit, either to small or too big, either way I have no time to play. I can't grab my filters and be on a shoot NOT being able to size them or have the threads stick upon removal. Even though i try and condition every screw in part I ever use, there is always days when I'm grabbing the overnight from my delivery guy, and flying off to a shoot. Fotodiox is 1, of maybe 4 companies total, that I can do that with, & never get jammed up.

Never been disappointed by Fotodiox yet

I hear horror stories of people cross-threading things, filter threads stripping out, filters binding up on step-up rings, etc. None of that happened with these $6 rings. I have standardized my filter collection around the 58mm diameter. I use a Fotodiox 52-58mm ring to attach filters to my Canon nifty fifty, and 49-58mm ring to use on the adapted Olympus Zuiko lenses I use. Both work flawlessly. Incidentally, I have inexpensive Fotodiox OM to EF adapters on all three of my Olympus lenses, and they also work perfectly.

I assume it wouldn't be that hard to deform these by squeezing them, dropping them, or over-torquing filters onto them. This kind of deformation probably explains 99% of the bad reviews on these step-up rings. But I'm not in the habit of abusing any of my equipment, and that's not a real concern for me. They work. They're inexpensive. Those two things together are what Fotodiox consistently provides for me.

Not need for smaller lens filter

I have a 67mm thread lens and don’t want to invest another hundreds dollar for 67mm filters, with three 72mm filters on hand, this step ring is perfect for me. It fits perfectly on the 67mm lens, and on the other end the 72mm filter fits perfectly as well. But there is one issue, the lens hood won’t fit when the step ring is mounted. This is not a big deal since you don’t need lens hood for every situation.

If you have multiple lenses, step-up rings are essential

Ideally, you buy the best filters you can afford in the size of the filter size of your widest lens's filter ring. Then you buy a bunch of these to put those wide filters on your narrower lenses. What you gain is the ability to use fewer expensive filters on more lenses. What you lose is maybe the ability to attach lens shades.

I have no idea why Amazon would want me to rate the warmth of a metal ring, nor the sharpness of a hole that has no optical qualities, and no relevant quality save diameter.

SMALL COST TO SOLVE A POTENTIALLY COSTLY PROBLEM...

Sold my old camera and got a new one. Only thing was the filters for my old camera were 67mm and my new camera is 62mm. This little step-up ring allowed me to use all my older filters on my new camera NP. As an added bonus, because the diameter of my old filters are larger than the diameter of my new camera, vignetting isn't an issue either. Good quality, works great, excellent price.

It works; what more needs to be said

This ring appears to be well-made; the inner and outer threads are smooth and non-binding, and it does not feel flimsy.
If you buy one of these, please remember to treat it gently. Do not over tighten the lens to this or this to the body or whatever you're adapting. These will seize if over tightened. It is not the fault of the ring; it's the nature of the beast.
If you need an adapter, this one should sufficiently meet your needs.

Just be careful threading onto an accessory.

I was over cautious threading this step-up adapter onto a 48 mm UV filter. I gave the threads a light coating of
precision oil, then carefully threaded to make sure nothing was crossed. It started off rough but then settled in
until it was snug up against the filter. Since I don't plan on removing it, it sure work fine. It is only there for me
to use a lens hood. Product was shipped fast thanks to Prime subscription.

A solid option. Don't make a mistake.

I want to run a large polarizer across different lens. The step ring works, and is machined well enough to allow easy install and removal of filter and on and off the lens. Some cheaper ones have rough-cut threads and stick aluminum on aluminum. The quality is well worth the extra few bucks over the stupid-cheap ones. Don't buy twice. Just get this one.

Better than spending 45 dollars for a chunk of metal

I thought about buying the polar pro step up wings “You know because of brand loyalty”. But I don’t see the grand difference. Yes these are a little more difficult to use I would imagine, I haven’t tested the polar pros. Getting the threads of the step ring and the threads of the lens to mate is the only issue I see but there’s no reason not to save money on your adapters. Go with Fotodiox and spend more money on the filters.

Perfect fit.

Fits perfect. Screws on and off both my 77mm lenses smoothly. My 86mm filter has coarser threads and it also goes on and off smoothly. About all you can ask for, right? Much cheaper than buying several filters. If you are concerned about your lens hood not working with a bigger filter, and you believe you need one for a particular situation, buy a screw-on hood to fit the larger filter, or do like I do and use your hand or newspaper or anything handy to block the sun from getting in the front of the lens. That has worked for me for years. Good filters aren't cheap, and the fewer you have to buy the better. Step-up rings will save you a lot of money if you have just a few different size lenses.

Fotodiox Metal Step Down Ring, Anodized Black Metal 62mm-52mm, 62-52 mm

Question & Answer

Question :

This is for a 58mm filter on a 52mm lens thread, correct?

Answer :

Yes. (The reverse is a step down ring.)

Question :

People say it's hard to take this off the lens, is it true?

Answer :

When compared to my tiffen step up filters it is a lot more 'sticky'. I haven't had issues with it being hard to remove from my lens, but it is difficult to remove from other step up rings and filters.

Question :

Will this fit my canon sx530 hs? i had a bower 67mm adapter lens made from plastic and it broke.

Answer :

If you have the filter adapter (Canon FA-DC67A) then yes this will work. The front of this lens has a bayonet rather than a traditional filter thread. This bayonet is designed to accept accessories that are specifically designed for this camera such as the FA-DC67A filter adapter from Canon.

Question :

I need a 67-62 step down ring does anyone make one

Answer :

Yes. Several vendors on Amazon have them; Ultrapro and Sonia are just 2. Do a search for 67-62 stepdown adapters.

Question :

Why doesn't it fit my 50mm lens?

Answer :

This is designed to adapt lens accessories that have a 49mm thread to a lens that has a 40.5mm thread.
I suggest you look at the information inscribed on your lens. Somewhere around the ring you should see something like 50mm or 50 ( with a Greek letter). This will be the thread size you will need for filters and other lens accessories.

This adapter is about 9.5mm too small to fit your lens.

Question :

I have a 82mm lense and need an adaptor to fit a 72mm macro attachment. Will this work?

Answer :

No, you will need a Step Down Ring 82mm-72mm

Question :

I just bought a 67mm 18-140mm lens, but my filters are 52mm. Will this allow me to use the filters on my new lens?

Answer :

You would need to get a 67mm-52mm Step Down ring to make this work, but with that large of a difference you will get vignetting (darkened edges) on your images. It would be much better to get filters that are the correct size for your lens.

Question :

Estimated Delivery time?

Answer :

On time as expected!

Question :

This is adptador is for fixed lens cameras

Answer :

It'll fit on both telephoto and fixed-focal-length camera lenses, as long as they have threads. Be sure to buy according to the diameter of the objective lens, not the focal length.

Question :

I have a 50mm lens and a 55mm uv filter, will this 49 - 55mm setup ring help me, so the 55 uv filter will work on the 50mm lens?

Answer :

Yes. I use a my Nifty Fifty (50mm f1.8 stm) with a 49-52mm step up ring, and a 52mm filter.
