Big, versatile, valuable teleprompter
So good, we bought two!
This mid-range teleprompter is not without it's problems, but it's a great value and extremely versatile.
PROS:
- Big glass
- Rigid hood
- Flexible camera and device mounting options
- Great accessories for mounting more tools
- Easier to balance (if you need that) than most fixed teleprompters
CONS:
- The case is just bad; throw it away and pack the item is something else (it should be noted that the case *does* have pins that help lock it and keep the flimsy plastic in place...but do not use this case to pack in a production truck or ship; it will not hold up).
- The glass angle can be adjusted, but there is no stop to keep it from falling into the device holders. Move with care or you will crack the glass if it drops!
- The unit takes a while to setup properly.
- The documentation isn't horrible, but it isn't great...this shouldn't be a problem for anyone used to working with similar systems.
- Not gonna work with wide angles as the tablet is very close to the glass.
Alrighty, so unlike some teleprompters, this one has a lot of versatility, but that makes it more complicated. Be prepared to spend a bit of time setting it up and balancing. I've gone through several teleprompters over the years for various companies and projects. This one has the biggest glass in the sort of mid-range prompters, which makes it work with big screens, like an iPad Pro. The standard rails is also nice because in addition to the included mounting accessories, many other "cheese plate" and rail systems are compatible.
The unit works great for DSLRs and small cameras. I'd be concerned about placing a very large camcorder on it (like the picture shows) due to the long rails stressing under weight. The versatile height for camera mount and thumb-screw components are great for a range of equipment and (mostly) easy setup and tear-down.

Great to add a larger monitor up front
I bought this so I could use a $100 , 17 inch monitor and fortunately the rails protrude quite a ways up front. I just need to figure out how to mount the monitor, but that should be no problem. Super good craftsmanship. I love this thing. Thank you Glide Gear.

Biggest screen I've used
We purchased this for interviews, and it's great! I used to have a smaller version of the glidegear, but we found that people had difficulty reading the words. With this bigger one, people have a much easier time.
We set this up on a manfrotto tripod - it's a bit heavier so you'll want to make sure the tripod can support the weight of the teleprompter, plus a tablet, plus your camera/

Works as advertised
This is a solid piece of equipment. It needs a sturdy tripod. For mobility, I purchased dolly wheels for the tripod.
I used an old HD camera and attached this ti my video switcher. Thus, I can use it for live broadcasts in Zoom or Youtube Live.

Great Value!
We use this in our office studio. It is a great value! We did place it upon blocks to raise it off the floor a bit for taller subjects.

Quality is great
Works great and is probably the best value that you'll find for a teleprompter on the internet. The rack will hold hold pretty much any tablet size. The frame is great quality seems like it’ll last a long a time. Would recommend

great medium size prompter. ≈
Used on one shoot and it worked really well. Sturdy unit, and just get a better case for it. Original is flimsy.

Massive, fits a 15" monitor easily
It's giant and just what I needed, though it is a little heavy (this is expected) due to how large it is.

Question & Answer
Question :
Can this work with Ipad pro 12.9?
Answer :
Yes this works with an iPad Pro 12.9 inch. It’s the main reason I purchased this myself. Read my complete review about the product for my complete thoughts.
Question :
Does this fit canon c300 mark ii camera?
Answer :
I'm using it with a Canon C300 Mark I. It fits better than some of their other models which are designed for standard DSLR's that aren't as tall as the C300. The biggest challenge is the attachment to the base your 300 will sit on. It doesn't have the ability to swap out the screws so you'll probably have to use a small adapter to get it to fit. It also doesn't have an anti-rotation pin so you have to align it by hand and it's easy to bump it out of position.
Question :
Should I need, desire a new case; any suggestions??? Does the iPad need any protection from any surfaces while in the holder (foam, padding, case?)
Answer :
The case is awful. I would give it one step away from being disposable, but with the savings compared to a competing promoter, it makes sense. There are hard rubber holders for the iPad, and I feel it is safe and secure without any further protection.
Question :
Does it come with the extra gear/rods for mounting the viewing monitor up front? It looks like we do get that mounting equipment from the video. Thx.
Answer :
Yes, Ours came with an extra mounting slide for whatever you want to put there. We use it for a monitor and a microphone mount. It doesn't come with screws, just a double bored bracket, but it has standard threaded sockets for attachments.
Question :
What’s the best replacement case??? What size is this case? I’m going to need to travel with it right away, what should I replace it with, please???
Answer :
I bought a Vault by pelican. 22x20 I think. The foam from the original case will fit inside this one so you don’t have to recut it. I did make a 2” “picture frame” cut from the foam in the vault to go around the precut stuff I inserted from the original.
Question :
I have a 13.3 thin laptop. Will it fit?
Answer :
I have used 15.6" screens and 6.2" smartphones and sizes in between like surface pro 4s. The monitor guide lengths are fully adjustable. Not sure about laptops though. You can't use a traditional laptop with a fixed screen. You would need one of those laptops with a screen that rotates so you can fold the keyboard under the screen so that the screen is on top of the keyboard.
Question :
What tripod would you recommend using this with? Is the entire thing 14 pounds or is that also including the case it comes in?
Answer :
Im using it with a Monfranto 3021 Alum Tripod and a a Monfranto MVH500 AH fluid head. Works great!
Question :
Can this be mounted on a MacBook Pro?
Answer :
I’m not sure how you would mount a MacBook or laptop to this. The iPad Pro works perfectly because it lays flat in front of the glass which reflects the text back to you. A laptop’s screen or keyboard would be in the way of any camera for recording.
Question :
What is the thickness of the beamsplitter glass. I have seen complaints on competing products that the glass was too thin and fragile
Answer :
I don't know the glass thickness but I do know that I have dropped camera mount base plates that comes in the kit along the glass and I thought for sure I broke the glass but there isn't a mark on it. I don't doubt what others are saying I can only tell you about my experience and it seems reasonably scratch resistant. I drop my smartphone all the time and it's got gorilla glass. I doubt the TMP 750 has gorilla glass so I always treat it as fragile and keep it in the foam case that came with the teleprompter. The most vulnerable time is when taking the glass out of the case and mounting it on the 15mm rods. The glass in on a locking swivel so try to always have one hand holding the glass while you lock the clamps etc. I did drop the glass onto the rails the first time I set it up but the glass did not break and there are no scratches yet.
Question :
Can this work with a MacBook Pro?
Answer :
No. It is too large. These are designed for tablets and cell phones.
