Perfect product for 77mm threads.
Wow wow wow - gone are the vignettes of overhanging adapter rings for filters.
I had both a 70-200mm and a 16-35mm which had a 77mm thread - both of which I loved to use with 100x100 filters.
This adapter ring allowed me to affix my filters in a way (to the Lee foundation kit) so that the holder of adapter ring were not visible in the frame.
Perfect fit. Perfect threads. Perfect results

Does what its supposed to do.
Does what its supposed to do. Pricey for what it is, but what can you do? Didn't want to chance an alternative brand for a cheaper price as I was in a rush and didnt have time to test it before my travels.

Lee Filters are terrific.
These filters are extremely well made. The adapter ring is needed to fit my particular camera. I love the filter set and can now emulate all those youTube Photographers that go out and shoot landscapes with dark skies.

Question & Answer
Question :
I have Canon 17-40 and 24-105mm lenses. Recently, I bought the wide angle adaptor. Do I still need to buy a regular 77 mm adaptor for 24-105mm?
Answer :
No. As long as your 24-105 is a 77mm lens diameter like your 17-40. The wa is recommended down to 24mm anyway.
Question :
I bought a compatible 77 w/a adapter ring, but it produces vignettes with my nikon 16-35, from 20mm down. Does this adapter have the same problem?
Answer :
The lens from 20mm down is extremely wide. The only way to shade this would be perhaps a 105mm Heliopan rubber shade, PARTIALLY COLLAPSED, with a HELIOPAN 77 TO 105MM STEP RING. JUST TOO WIDE. Are you using the standard shade or the Lee Wide anglele? The wide angle or Ultra wide shade can work, but is very bulky. For this lens the Nikon shade may be best or the 105mm suggestion above.
Question :
Wait...these are $85 for just the ring?
Answer :
Yes, They are. The wide angle rings are an extremely difficult ring to manufacture, especially cutting the threads to screw into your lens. The threads are recessed so a very specialized machine tool is required.
Question :
Will this fit on a 82mm lens
Answer :
No this Only Fits 77mm lens
Question :
Does it work with Sony 24-105mm f4 lens?
Answer :
No, it will not. You can use any branded lens you want as long as the diameter is the same. Hence, it says 77mm. The threading is universal. I have this 77mm wide-angle adapter ring to accommodate my 105mm polarizer. So, again it works for me because I have a 77mm lens. Yours is 105mm so this is the wrong adapter for you. I hope this helps.
Question :
I have the 16-35mm and 70-200 I have a ring for the 82mm 16-35 thread. Will my kit work with the 77mm step up?
Answer :
Yes a 77 to 82mm step can work, although as the lens is so wide it may vignette. Perhaps you can get a step ring with return privileges and try it. If it darkens the corners at say F11-F16, then return it and get a 77mm Wide angle Lee ring. That should work for sure
Question :
Would you recom. this or 77 (standard?) adapter ring for canon 16-35 f4? the standard seem dbl threaded? can it be used to screw cpl filter?
Answer :
Not sure what your questions is but you will need two things, sold separately, to make this work. First is the Adapter Ring. It is threaded and screwes into the end of your lens. 77mm ring for any 77mm lens with threads. Second is the Filter Holder. It clips on over the Adpater Ring and holds the filter in place. It can be rotated to change the angle of a split neutral density filter, est.
Question :
Is this ring truly made by Lee or is it Lee compatible, made by another company?
Answer :
Yes, the ring is made by Lee as best that I can tell. Logo is on case and also on the ring itself.
Question :
can you put it over a UV filter?
Answer :
Good morning
Yes you can put over a UV filter.
Kind regards
Linhof Studio
Question :
If i jam this 77mm adapter ring onto a damaged filter thread, would it allow me to screw 77mm filters onto my lens again?
Answer :
Unfortunately, cross-threading anything can result in permanent damage. The Lee filter adapter ring is made of aluminum which may well be softer than your lens threads and that adapter ring suffered whatever damage you might have caused. If that is the case, then you can screw another filter onto that lens. As you screw it onto the lens, be sure that filter turns freely. If it should bind in any way, stop and do not force it. That will indicate the threads on the lens are damaged.
