I've got some Clean Lenses

I'm big into video production and keeping your lenses clean, of course, is very important. Normally I would use the alcohol wipes, and they do a decent job but I have never seen my lenses get so clean until I used one of these pens.
Boy have I missed out. Definitely a must for photographers and videographers. I use compressed air first and brush off any dust and debris and sometimes I will use both the air and brush at the same time so it really removes anything that might be holding on because of static etc. then use the pen and you will be shocked how clean. No smudges, just super transparent glass. Works great on viewfinders as well. I totally recommend these pens.

AWESOME Lens and Filter Cleaner - You will not want to go back to whatever you did before

AMAZING!!!

These are amazing and will blow away any other cleaning technology out there.

Forget about using special lens paper and special liquids or alcohol to clean your lens.

1) Dust off all dust, very well with the included brush first.
2) I prefer to breath a light fog of breath on the lens and then lightly start from the center of the lens and spiral out with the felt. This is the same cleaning motion taught by Nikon in Japan to clean lenses
3) Place the pen back into the holder or use the edge of the plastic cap to brush off any debris on the felt (I do this to dislodge any fine sand or dust from the felt and also it will get re-coated with the black carbon inside the cap by doing this.
4) Another light fog from my breath and repeat from the center out and I'm left with a perfectly clean lens

You can do the cleaning completely dry without breathing on the lens, however I found that tough oil stains on multi-coated optics seemed to come out faster when lightly moist. This technology is superior to all older methods, especially anything involving isopropyl alcohol.

These are amazing and you'll wonder how you ever cleaned a lens before having them.

Excellent cleaning tools for novice & expert photographers

These take up minimal space in the small pocket of my camera bag. On one end of the pen is a charcoal activated little scrubber; the charcoal sits inside the cap. On the other end is a retractable brush. The 3 pens are clearly labeled & the pen sizes also help remind you of which is for which: 1 for the optical viewfinder, 1 for the camera lenses (glass), 1 for filter lenses (plastic). The microfiber pocket/case that these pens slide into, also work great for general cleaning purposes. They are easy to figure out & use, even for noob or young (children) photographers. (They make great stocking stuffers & are also good "accessories" to go with your new lens, filters, or camera purchases.)

Overall, these are an inexpensive & great tool(s) to keep in your camera bag in order to protect your investment!

RE:Cleans the lens, filter,& lens filters just as advertised

After looking & reading many reviews about camera gear cleaners of what product to buy to clean my digital-film camera equipment with .I went finally decided to go with the DSLR PRO kit made by LENSPEN. combo.I'M GLAD I DID ...WHAT A GREAT PRODUCT TO USE WITH LITTLE EFFORT.

With this kit comes with everything you'll need, that comes with a handy Miro fiber cloth. What a bargain...better than using a wet solution that can ruin your expensive equipment if your not careful. It eve cleaned an old HOYA UV filter with ease...fingerprints smudges &all.Might just buy another one just for back up purposes .

I'm aways going carry this product with mr in my Lowepro Tahoe CS 80 bag, which also has my already charged back up batteries with 2 Pentax cameras.Have tooooo many camera bags...don't need to walk around like a tourist any more. Learned to carry only 2 a day for photo shooting.

BEST Deal and BEST way to clean your lens

I bought this set to replace a number of older series LensPens (some with the Nikon logo but made by LensPen), which I came to rely on a daily basis when shooting. First off, the older series was great to begin with BUT the new improved LensPen is simply even better in every regard and the absolute best lens cleaning method available, without exception.

First off, most people clean their lenses far too often. You usually see this among amateurs who baby their gear and do little shooting. No big deal really (I did it), but you should try to avoid cleaning a lens simply out of habit due to lens coatings. Then, if your lens is really dirty, you should FIRST start with the brush of the LensPen. In most cases, you are done at this point. However, if there are smudges on the lenns, the carbon tip end will take care of that effortlessly by starting at the center of the lens and moving it in a circular direction working outwards. But, regardless of the lens cleaning method or tools you use, always be sure to remove larger debris, such as sand or dust, with a brush or blower before you use a cloth or the carbon end of the LensPen. Otherwise, you risk scratching your front lens element. Also remember this product is not intended to be used with any wet style lens cleaning method.

If you compare the older model pens and the new pens you will notice that 1) ergonomics changed and 2) the cap is now screw on. The ergonomic change is very nice but the screw on cap is important because the caps would come off and end up at the bottom of my bag. The brush also seems to be made with a better/ softer material as well.

Based on heavy usage, a couple of pens will last me a over a year. I have found no reliable way to indicate when they should be replaced so I basically purge them one every 18 months or so. LensPen says its about 500 uses. But who really counts?

Saved an expensive filter.

I ordered this because I thought I had ruined an expensive B & W MRC Circular Polarizing filter while trying to clean it and needed something to try and rescue it. I was told this was the best filter/lens cleaner out there. I received it quickly and tried it out on a less expensive UV filter first. It worked great so I tried it on the polarizing filter and VOILA! It isn't ruined after all! So I got busy and cleaned all my filters and lenses. Even lenses that I thought were clean looked better after using this on them. HOORAY! I don't know how long this set will last so I'll probably order another pretty soon. The price is right. I've paid that much for a package of paper lens cleaners before.
A great product. I heard there is a newer version out there of this product, but since this was the one with all the positive reviews I ordered it instead of the newer, less tested model. Thanks LensPen!

You'll use this much more than a cloth and fluid. Very handy.

I don't know about you, but I'll never believe in my ability to keep a lens-cleaning cloth clean and free from grit that would scratch. I just can't trust a cloth beyond its first couple of uses.

The lens pen doesn't have that problem. I only uncap it during immediate use, then recap right after. Also before I use the carbon "swab" end I always use the brush end first to eliminate any existing gritty stuff that could possibly scratch if caught between swab and glass.

Tip: try using the brush only halfway (or less) extended if you need to remove more stubborn lint or other things that may resist removal by the fully extended (and therefore extra soft) brush.

This 3-piece is the kit to get, it's worth it. Like many, I thought I would only need/want/use the lens version. But you really do want the mini pen for your viewfinder and any compact cameras and phone lenses. And you don't really want to use the concave lens tip on flat filters or vice versa, they would rub too intensely. Thus the 3-piece is the way to go.

Note: the caps screw off! Don't pull.

It's a must for any photographer--get it!

Just like a paramedic has a first aid kit handy, you too, as a photographer/videographer, need something like this in case your gear comes in contact with sand, water or anything like that.
I'm on my second set and it's already saved me lots of pain when recently my Sony A7Riv planted itself in the sand on a beach at night after disattaching from its tripod. Another instance was when I was photographing a model friend on a backdrop of huge waves crashing at one the Great Lakes. This is a life saver for any creative that works outdoors.

Smudge on your lens?

This is another must have for your camera Gadget Bag. Whenever you get that fingerprint or smudge on your lens this is the first place to go before cleaning. The brushes are very nice soft camel hair and the little smudge removers are absolutely incredible! It is a tad expensive but it does the job very well. This little kid along with a Giottos rocket blower will be most everything you need to keep your lenses clean.

Best stuff on the market!!

As someone who is now getting into professional level photography (having started with a cropped-frame DSLR and moved into full-frame DSLR cameras) I think the lenspens are a must-have to keep your valuable equipment clean.

First off, no cleaning method is perfect at getting dust/lint off lenses and many actually leave more lint than they pick up. That is not the case with the lenspens. They are much better at picking up lint than the traditional solution and cloths which may leave behind fibers from the cloths themselves. Cloths can be abrasive to the coatings on newer lenses and some solutions are not safe for use on filters so you have to be very careful.

Here's how I clean my equipment:

I use these pens in conjunction with the Giottos rocket air blaster to remove dust and dirt from my lens filters and lenses. It's just a little hand air pump, NOT a can or aerosol. The combination of those two products - a total investment of about $25 - works so much better than anything I've tried before.

1)I hold the lenses or filters under a decent light at a 45-90 degree angle to the floor so I can see where the dirt is and so the dust can easily fall off. Never ever touch the glass with your fingers unless you are about to drop it on the floor and your hand is the only thing stopping it from breaking!

2)I spray the lens or filter with air from the rocket blaster first

3)I brush it gently with the brush end of the lenspen (FYI- there is a lenspen for lenses and another one that is safe for filters. You get both in this pack plus a smaller one for the viewfinder)

4)If there is still dirt or a brush bristle, I then wipe it with the carbon side of the lenspen. Don't touch the carbon with your fingers either because you don't want to leave oil from your skin on the tip of it.

5)I make one more pass with the rocket blaster and spray air on the lens or filter to clean up any tiny bits of lint that the lenspen may have left (recall how I said no method is perfect!)

6)Repeat steps 3-5 until satisfied, otherwise YOU'RE DONE! Woo!

It takes all of 2-5 minutes to clean with! It's a great product. I'll be buying some as gifts for other camera enthusiasts.

LensPen NLP-1 , Black

Question & Answer

Question :

Can you use this product to clean the inside of the lens as well as the outside of the lens?

Answer :

Yes you can. I’ve taken lenses apart many times for cleaning and repairs and these work great on the inward-facing surfaces of the front and rear lens elements, as well as the lenses inside the lens body. Just make sure you don’t leave any of the carbon dust behind and you’ll be just fine and your lenses will be crystal clear.

Question :

Okay...which answer is correct according to what is now being ordered and shipped? one reviewer got the micro, one reviewer got the mini.

Answer :

It is a package of three pens , one for the camera lens , one for filters and the smaller one for the eyepeice .

Question :

Will this work on Oculus Rift Lens? or is this a better product: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007G5NNOW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid

Answer :

You can ABSOLUTELY use lens pens on VR headsets...Lens pens are very gentle. Some of the other answers are definitely uninformed. Carbon works very well at getting oil off as well...

Question :

can it be used for projector

Answer :

Yes, this product can be used for any type of lens. This product is safe to use for a projector.

Question :

can this be used on eyeglasses?

Answer :

Yes, they work great on eyeglasses with the usual daily dusty ol' dirt that accumulates, better than taking a cloth to them. The Pen has a dust brush as well, to get larger particles off before the are pressed against the lens by cleaning.
But they aren't very effective if you need to remove spots of dried dog slobber, big greasy fingerprints or splashes of food on your lenses. I use water or solution and a cloth to break down those spots, and the Pen to polish them up nice.
If you have binoculars or a camera they are the cat's meow!

Question :

From i am reading this product is not for cleaning polarizing filters. is that the same for uv filters? what product will clean both of these filters.

Answer :

The back of the product package states "Not for use on polarizing filters"

Question :

Are these the new white version with the invisible carbon?

Answer :

No they are not.

Question :

Can I use this on GoPro?

Answer :

The pens can be used on the GoPro for great results

Question :

How to prepare a wet lens for cleaning with this if no time to wait until it dry? Why not allowed to use on polarize filter?

Answer :

The active principle of this product is dry carbon, so it not work on wet surfaces, no way. Not allowed on polarized because what makes a lens "polarized" is a superficial treatment (like a paint over the glass) that could be removed if this pencil is used with too much pression. However, one of the pencils in this kit is advised to be used specifically for filters...

Question :

Do they sell replacement head for the pens? I have 6 pens with worn out ends

Answer :

I think the ideia is to renew the entire pen. The brush at the opposite end must be renewed by time, as well as the cleaning head, because it loose softness and cleaning capacity too.
