Pretty impressive

I get macro extension tubes for every camera I buy, because they're a quick and easy way to do macro without getting a dedicated lens, which I rarely ever need or use. These tubes are the best quality 3rd party set I've seen. All metal, solid build, and even have a weather-sealing gasket (!!!). Granted, I'm not going to test the weather sealing, but I was surprised it was included.

As far as function goes, no issues so far... they mount securely with virtually no play, autofocus and aperture adjustments work just as they should. Using this with the Z 24-70, I need to use the 18mm to get close to 1:1 magnification, but the image quality is great, aided by the cameras inbuilt stabilization.

Great at this Price

Z mount. These work great on my Z6. Overall, the quality exceeds my expectations. I would not expect these to last forever, but better than a pure budget set.

Locking mechanism is positive, and I do not see any light leaking. Works great with the Z 50mm F1.8 and Z 35mm F1.8. Also works well with the F 24-120mm F4. I tried the F 20mm F1.8, but with both adapters the focus is right at the lens.

I would buy this again at this price.

Surprisingly good quality and I got some great results

Considering the price point, I was thinking this extension tube set more of a "disposable" quality. I was pleasantly surprised to see the actual meal mount and decent quality plastic for the tubes. Both tubes stacked well without any light leakage. I only used these tubes in manual focus, manual exposure modes. Therefore, can't comment on autofocus or metering accuracy. Also I have used this set for only 2-3 times but time will tell how long they last. Only thing that could have been better is the tube release latch. It's very small and have no ridges making it little difficult to work in the darker situation. Having a brighter color or some sort of ridges would have provided tactile feeling. I just took an outer sleeve from an electric wire plastic, cut it and pushed on the release latch. Other than this, for the price, it's a great value.

Great value

Full time pro 20+ years
Using on a new z6 with sigma 50 art with FTZ adapter and works great af is fine etc....
A little rough feeling when mounting (cheap mount metal) but not gritty maybe to say rough or not polished feel/not precise but for the money waiting for native high end macro Z mount does the job very well

Works great with the Nikon 24-70 f4 lens

The extension tubes are solidly built with a plastic body and metal mount. Attaches smoothly to the camera body, lens and each other. With the 24-70 mm lens there are No focusing problems at 70mm. At other focal lengths the focus distance may be inside of the lens, which is typical for a Nikon zoom.

Fine inexpensive way to take true close ups.

Surprisingly good. Decently made, though as expected for the price, not as robust as OEM lenses. But autofocus speed was good but not sperfsst. As you would expect, this is not terribly important for the limited focusing range involved. Manual focus with Z lens and with adapted lenses is fine. As there is no glass in the extension tubes, quality relies of the lens.

Since Nikon doesn't yet sell extension tubes, I tried these, they are great values!

I was surprised at their low cost. They are well made and worked well. I have a Nikon Z50 and used these with the 50-250mm kit lens and got some very nice "macro" images. At my level and at this time, it is a lot cheaper to buy these for my occasional use, than the 105 mm Macro lens made by Nikon.

Excellent Product at an Excellent Price

These macro extension tubes are awesome. The build quality is superb and the tolerance is prefect.

The autofocus in my lens works perfectly, and paired with the 24-70 f/4 S, I get some very sharp and pleasing images.

Highly recommended. Five Stars.

This pair of extension tubes is one high-quality item. the electronics work flawlessly with my Nikon Z7 so auto focus is fast and reliable, and image quality is quite good. What more could you ask for? Maybe a lower price!

Really Good extension tubes

Bought then to try and I can say I am not disappointed at all fits great no movement from the les to the extension tubes as well as to the body. If you don't have a micro lens they work great.

Question & Answer

Question :

Using a Nikon Z 24-70 f4 lens set at 70mm and the 18mm tube or stacked 11+18mm tubes, about how far away can you focus on the subject?

Answer :

Z7, camera pointed horizontally with middle of lens against measuring surface, so no angles to consider. Here is a complete breakdown:
All measurements are from the film plane (not the front of the lens) to the subject, in centimeters.
The minimum measures put the subject about 2cm from the front of the lens, so there is very little working room.
11mm tube @24mm: min 17, max 20
11mm tube @70mm: min 25, max 60+ (I had only 60cm working room and had not run out of focusing distance)
18mm tube @24mm: min inside lens (will not focus), max 18
18mm tube @70mm: min 28, max 44
11+18 tubes @24mm: everything is inside the lens - focus not possible
11+18 tubes @70mm: min 25, max 34

The build quality of this set is very nice. I also have a three-tube Kenko set in Nikon F mount and this Meike set seems more substantial. I think it is an extraordinary value.

Question :

Anyone know the magnification values for each tube?

Answer :

These are hollow tubes that have no direct magnification. They cause a lens to focus closer, which gives magnification. The minimum focus distance depends upon the lens being used. For example, with both tubes in place on a Nikon Z 24-70 f4 lens set at 70mm you can get almost 1:1 magnification.

Question :

Has anyone used the extension tubes with the Nikon Z 24-70 f4 lens?

Answer :

i did working MEKEI Z amount

Question :

does it work with the 24 to 200 z mount?

Answer :

It does work very well with any Z mount lens. I've used is successfully with Z lenses and with a 60-600 mm "F" mount lens with the adapter.

Question :

Since you don't offer a 36mm, can two sets of these kits be stacked on top of each other?

Answer :

Yes, but be sure everything is tight to make electrical contact.

Question :

How do these work with autoexposure? Does the Z camera compensate for light reduction using these and is the exposure right on or underexposed?

Answer :

If you are in an Auto exposure mode like aperture priority, shutter priority, or program, the camera's light meter will automatically compensate for the additional exposure needed. You may still have to adjust for your subject's brightness or darkness to taste. I use these with the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 Z lens and the results are excellent.

Question :

The choice of lenses to work well with extension tubes is critical. What specific lenses are being used and how is the image quality for macro?

Answer :

I've used it with the 24-70 Z mount lens and with a 60-600 mm "F" mount lens. The results are very good and the image quality leaves nothing to be desired.

Question :

Do these extension tubes come with a set of end-caps, and a case?

Answer :

Yes, Meike MK-Z-AF1 11mm 18mm Full Frame Macro AF Extension Tube for Nikon Z Series Cameras Z6 Z7 come with Nikon Z mount Meike-labelled one front and one rear cap. With regards, Taavi.

Question :

Would this work with Nikon D3200?

Answer :

It wouldnt work with D3200.
