Excellent Grip

Though I like the small form factor of Fujifilm X-T20, the grip is not great. I checked out many available hand grip options and ended up buying this Meike grip.

What I liked:

Pretty close to OEM when it comes to looks (and hence doesn’t look cheap at all)
Easy to attach
Fits perfect
Very good quality
Very functional and does not add bulk

There is nothing that I did not like about this grip as it functions as per product description but including ’something’ to tighten the screw would have made things easy. And a little pricey?

Excellent fit on an X-T20 body

Excellent fit on an X-T20 body. Looks extremely similar to the Fujifilm version that is around three times the price. Leaves open access to the battery/memory card and relocates the tripod mounting hole further from the battery door. The texture on the front of the grip is similar to that on the body, though that piece is plastic and not the same rubbery feel. The grip adds depth front to back, and a swell out to the side. This makes the grip appreciably more substantial than the bare body, but without obtrusively reducing the space for your fingers.

I first bought one of the many all aluminum L-brackets with grip, and it also fit well and gave a better grip for my XC lenses and 23 f/2 Fujinon (and was only $24). But when I received a 56 f/1.2, I immediately found that the space between the bracket grip and aperture ring was not enough, and the ring would painfully rub against one or two knuckles of my right hand. This grip does not reduce that space, and I can use that larger lens with no discomfort.

The front plastic grip is held on by two very small screws through the aluminum base plate, and their strength would be the only thing I might ever wonder about. But, I can't imagine putting any significant stress on the grip in a way that would compromise them.

I bought the Meike XT20G for my X-T20 body. As expected it fit perfectly on my new X-T30.

Excellent fit: doesn't look like the plate is going to scratch the camera body. The extra grip thickness is perfect for just a little more comfortable finger grip. The plate is fairly thin and light so it doesn't take any more room in the camera bag. Mounts solidly on my tripod.

Sufficient clearance for the battery/SD card door --- Door opens freely; no issue unlactching the door with the grip attached.

It also works great when attaching a peak Design Capture plate to the bottom.

A Must Have at Half the Price!

The grip is a "must have" for all X-T20 owners. It copies the OEM Fuji grip exactly, but at half the price (personally, I can not justify paying $100+ for their grip). I have small hands - I find the X-T20 hard to hold properly (esp w/o accidentally hitting the Q button). The fit is precise will no gap between the hand grip & the camera. The metal bottom plate is painted and machined excellent. To top it off, the tripod mount is now centered where it should be. One last thing, the metal plate helps protect the bottom of the camera +. The Meike grip for the X-T10-30 is a perfect fit for the camera. Made from high quality aluminum, coated in a rich black enamel and with a precision fit, the grip is simply indistinguishable from the rest of the quality camera exterior. See pics for yourself. The only rub I would give is that the plastic grip, while a matching texture, is not as grippy as the rest of the cam. Its quite plasticky feeling, but still grips!

Using the grip is a huge ergonomic upgrade from the naked camera, providing a "how did I ever get along without this?" experience from the first shot. If youre on the fence, get it. Its a fraction of the cost of the Fuji one, and I cant imagine how he fuji improves on this?

Access to battery door and ports are uninterrupted, screen is able to articulate, arca Swiss mount included in the shape, and now the tripod mount is in line with the lens! Brilliant! In this case its a clear improvement over the naked camera, which blocks the battery/card door when mounted to a tripod.

Exactly what I needed, and for half the price! (XT30 user)

As you probably know by now, a grip for the XT20, XT30, etc., is an absolute must. I am a woman, so my hands are smaller than many buying these cameras, and even for me, the natural grip on these cameras is way too small. It feels like the camera could slip out of my hands at any second. However, I'm 21 and have arthritis in my hands (I'm literally cursed), so any grip that I bought had to be as lightweight as possible. This Meike one is perfect & makes me totally comfortable while shooting, and I can't imagine that a grip double this price would be much of an improvement.

- It screws on very easily and is NOT going anywhere once it's on. Feels like very high-quality materials; I can trust it completely. Plenty of room for the battery door to open, etc.

- The texture of the handle is exactly the same as the texture on the rest of the camera body (at least it is on my XT30). Not only is that texture better for gripping in general, it makes everything look cohesive & not like a cheap third-party product at all.

- I really, really appreciate not having any logos on the front of the camera other than Fuji; the Meike logo & text is very small on the BACK of the camera only, which makes it look that much more professional in my opinion. If you're an XT30 user like me, you should know that the text on the back does say "XT20," which might bother some people. Again, if that were on the front, it might have deterred me. But since it's on the back in very small text, no one notices it at all.

Get a better grip on the X-T30

This grip is really helpful for getting a firm grip on the very small X-T30. It’s just one more finger, but it makes all the difference.
I bought this grip to use on the camera during a two-week trip to Spain, and I was very glad I had it. I had the camera on a short wrist strap and was able to hold the X-T30 with a 16mm Fuji lens (my favorite lens) very comfortably for up to 2 hours without fatiguing my hand.
The only downside is a slight amount of extra weight. I found the better grip/more weight trade-off very acceptable.

Forget the OEM Grip Attachment

At 1/3 the price of the OEM grip attachment, you’re paying for essentially the same thing. There are grip attachments costing half as much as this one, but their front grip extensions are twice as bulky. The Meike grip provides just-enough extrusion to render the camera a lot more manageable and comfortable. I use the 18-135mm lens, mainly, but also prime lenses. The 18-135 is handled much better with the grip formation of the X-H1, but this grip keeps the bulk of the X-T20’s body within a “compact” form factor.

A tripod mount that doesn't block the battery + SD card door!

This is a must-have if you use a tripod mount or Peak Design Capture Clip. Fujifilm placed the tripod mount hole too close to the battery door. Use of any mount adapter blocks the door and denies access, which is very frustrating. This grip leaves easy access to the battery and SD card, has a built-in tripod bracket, and a better position tripod mount hold where you can use the Capture Clip without interference.

And oh yeah, the larger grip is kind of nice, too.

Hello, for now we only have one grip for fuji x-t20, the MK-XT20G hand grip. I don't know how a zomei tripod looks like, but the grip has a standard 1/4 tripod screw and an Arca-Swiss compatible track.

Does the grip move at all? Does the screw come unscrewed do you constantly have to tighten it?

Answer :

This grip is very snug and secure once installed. I don't recall any issues with it becoming unscrewed during the time I owned an xt-20. You might have to re-tighten the bottom screw a little every so often, but the grip stays on nicely regardless.

Do you feel a thumb grip is still necessary with the hand grip installed?

Answer :

The use of this grip on xt20 camera won’t influence the use of thumb grip.
So it depends,here to say we have this thumb priced cheaply.let me know if you like.

I think it would clear the gimbal mount but I can't be 100% sure. There are mounting points for a tripod under the grip.

No, it does not fit the XT2; however, the built-in grip on the XT2 is pretty good and is more substantial than the Meike XT20G anyway. For a slightly more substantial feeling, you could use the bottom half of the MegaGear Ever Ready leather camera case for the XT2 (it's a full case, but you can just use the bottom half if desired), but it doesn't have as rough a texture as the built-in grip. If you want a case, it's a nice one that fits well.

As you can see in the pics,there is a mounting screw socket in the grip,you can mount it to most of accessories,such as the Peak Design anchor,tripod,monopod without having to remove the grip.

Is it difficult to remove the SD card from the camera with this grip?

Answer :

You can remove the sd card and the battery without trouble

Is there a safety pin to stop the camera from sliding off of the clamp, or can one be added?

Answer :

The Meike grip attaches to the camera by screwing into the camera’s tripod socket. There are also additional tripod sockets on the bottom of the grip so you can still mount it to a tripod without having to remove the grip.
