Great if you have a lot of EF Glass
One thing that hasn't been clear to me and I don't blame this on the manufacture Viltrox but on the many reviews out there. I didn't notice until I began to use the speed booster that it will only work with EF Lenses, not EF-S lenses. Yes, this should have been a given with the idea being that this will take a mirrorless crop sensor camera and turn it into a full frame camera.
Now on the subject of Full frame. I'm using this with a Canon M50. Which has a crop factor of 1.6. This booster gives a plus 0.71. Meaning that this crops 1.136. For example EF 50mm 1.8 with the adapter is an 80mm with the booster it is a 56.8mm and also drops the F down to 1.2.
The images and video were all shot using the Canon 50m 1.8 STM. the first image is with the speed booster with aperture at1.2. The second is with the booster at 1.8. The third is with the Canon EF-m to EF adapter with the aperture set at 1.8. The video is with the speed booster.
I have used this both for images and video. With video, I haven't really noticed any issues other than the motor makes does make more noise than usual and the autofocus seems slightly slower when changing the autofocus from one subject to the other. The 50mm is dead silent when used without the booster, so I'm guessing that this is the motor in the booster. When tracking I've noticed no issue beyond the focus motor sound.
Who should buy this and who shouldn't? If you already have a collection of EF Full Frame lenses, slap this thing on and Bob's your uncle. If you are just starting out and on a budget, the EF-M to EF adapter may be a better option because you can use both EF and EF-S lenses. EF-S lenses tend to be cheaper and THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS SPEED BOOSTER.

Absolutely awesome + 1 f-stop!!!
So I got myself a Canon M50. Very similar to the Canon 77D I already owned features-wise, but significantly smaller and lighter. I was a little bummed that I needed to get all new glass because of the EF-M mount, but then it turns out that there’s adapters that let you use your EF and EF-S lenses on the EF-M mount, albeit with the same 1.6x crop factor as my 77D, both being crop-sensor cameras. I'd been watching M50 review videos on YouTube and in one of them someone mentioned the Viltrox EF-EOS M2 Lens Adapter. Honestly, it sounded too good to be true at first. So you’re telling me I get an adapter that will make my EF lenses look almost their actual focal length (about 1.1x instead of 1.6x) AND also gain a full f-stop for about 150 USD? Yeah, right… I kept watching reviews on the Viltrox adapter until curiosity finally got the best of me. I ended up buying one from Amazon, hoping for the best. First thing I did, I had to try my beloved nifty-fifty (EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens). Using the Viltrox adapter it now looks like a 56-57 mm lens (50 * 1.6 * .071) which is not bad at all. But wait, when using the lens and adjusting the aperture on the camera, it didn’t stop at f/1.8 but rather all the way down to f/1.2! My lens, brand new, goes for 125 USD on Canon’s website. The 50mm f/1.2 also on Canon’s website goes for 1,349 USD. I’m getting the aperture of a 1,300 dollar lens for less than 300 dollars (lens + Viltrox adapter). Sure, it’s not quite the same but I’m very much a beginner/enthusiast, so it's more than enough for me right now. That’s an excellent price point for such an awesome aperture on a prime lens. That’s only talking about the one lens, though. Got any EF lenses sitting around? Pop them into this glorious thing right here and get almost full-frame images out of them with extra aperture. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Get this adapter NOW!

Simply amazing!
What an amazing little gadget. Before I bought it, I watch a bunch of YouTube videos and read a bunch or articles on it. Needless to say, I was eager for its arrival. I attached it to my Canon mirrorless and then attached my Canon f/4 24-105mm lens to it.. The reading on my screen: F/2.8. Awesome. Next, I tried it on my 70-300mm 4-5.6 zoom and tried it at the long end. My screen displayed F/4. Again, awesome! So.. I was able to take a photo a stop lower ISO. It may not sound like a lot but... My main reason for this purchase was for use indoors in the auditorium at my kids' school. They never have it very bright up on stage and the amount of light keeps your camera at either a high ISO or a shutter slow shutter speed. When taking photos of your kids, so much more detail can be kept at 3200 vs 6400 ISO. Just awesome. I wanted a full frame camera but not the size or cost... For $156 (At time of purchase) it was WELL worth it.
Quality.. Build quality is great. I also use a regular Comlite adapter and I'd say they're about the same build.
Photo quality.. Seems fine. I'm happy... I'm also just a Dad who takes pictures of his kids. If you want a professional opinion, I'm not the right guy to provide it.
Am I happy with the purchase: YES

Improves everything!!!
Wow, so far so good. Aside from not able to use EF-S lens, everything else is very good! I used the Canon 17-40 f4 wide zoom lens on the M50 and did notice an increase brightness and wider field of view. Without the adapter, one test shot had f4 @ 1/80 @ iso 4000. It was a relatively dim room. With the adapter, the M50 camera had the exposure at f4 @ 1/80 @ ISO 1600. That alone improved the noise. On paper it’s supposed to give you a 1 stop increase on your lens so taking random test shots with the same lens, the camera recognizes the 17-40 f4 as a 19-45 f2.8. This is a well worth investment... Canon, you better start making an adapter like this!!

If you own an M50 this product will open up you lens choices drastically.
This product, and all their products have changed the way I use my cameras. I can now use all my EF mount lenses with my Canon M50. The build quality is as good as Canon, or any other high end lens I've used.
Fit was perfect and all electronics worked flawlessly (auto focus and stabilization). This now expands the lenses made for the M50 from 6 to all the EF lenses (which is many). The one thing to take note, before purchasing, is that only EF lenses work on this adapter and not EF-S mount lenses. I don't understand why they can't make a speed booster to allow the use of myEF and EF-S lenses though. The non speed booster version of this product (the one with no optics in it) that they make, allow me to use both types, why can't they make a speed booster that accepts all my EF and EF-S lenses like their cheaper adapter?
Besides that one issue, I still recommend this product. It will open up your lens choices for your Canon M50 and is made of nothing but the best quality material.

Works as advertised!
I was reluctant to purchase this item, but I really needed a wider field of view for my lenses. In reference to picture quality, there is a very small reduction but not enough to be noticed by someone who doesn't own and EF-M camera. The auto focus is amazing, even with my older EF glass. I wouldn't trust the tripod mount that is attached to this adapter. All in all a great buy and would buy again if it were to break.

First one would not work with my M50 but seller worked with me and sent replacement that works great
Update: Got my replacement from the seller and it works great! He was very easy to work with. I will buy from him again!
Bought it to use with my Canon M50 and Canon 100mm F2.8L and Canon 24-105 F4 lenses. The adaptor worked one time. I didn't need to use it again until now and it will not work. It will not recognize an aperture and stays in manual focus (even though my camera and lens are in auto focus.) When I fully push down the shutter release button it says error: camera and lens connection is not working. I have cleaned the lens and camera connections, attached it as stated in the directions to no avail. Since it's been over 3 months, I cannot return it to Amazon but the seller is going to allow me to send it back for an exchange so I’ll repost an update once I receive it back and test it out. Service and communication from the seller as been great.

Great for getting more out of your lenses and camera
I really like this adapter. I’ve used it with multiple zoom lenses. EF 20-35mm 1:3.5-4.5 USM, 28-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS USM, 28-105mm 1:3.5-4.5 USM, and 100-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 USM. The only prime lense I’ve used is the EF 50mm 1.8.
It is great with the 20-35, 28-135, and 50mm. They are sharp and look great. The 100-300 retains a lot of light but gains a good bit of chromatic aberration.
You get more out of these lenses vs a normal adapter. You gain more of a field of view and get most of your crop back. You still don’t get the full effect of wide angle lenses but still useful.
The auto focus slows down a bit but it still works. It tends to bounce around if your exposure is high. I tend to use manual focus more as the AF can still be a bit off but that may also be the m50.

GAME CHANGER for Canon M mount...I have the M50
If you have a Canon M mount camera and EF lenses, this is a no brainer!!
1. Most efs lens will not work without heavy vignetting, might damage glass element
2. There is a glass element inside the adapter, which slight effect image quality
3. the crop factor has less effect on focal length and aperture, brings new life to your lenses
4.limited number of native M mount lenses exist, this adapter solves problems of ef primes and zooms
5.Soild hard plastic build, metal mounts and removable tripod mount (hex tool did not come with mine)
6.adapter fits flush to camera body, no wiggle/play
7.works well with manual ef lenses such as rokinon and m42 with canon adapter
8.I wish stabilization and removable nd filter slot was added to this adapter, but for the price you can't beat this!!

Love having so many lens options for my M50 now!!
Got this to go with a wide angle for my m50. Upon receiving it, I was surprised with how close it felt to Canon's version when it came to quality (for much less $)! It works great, the only downside I see is that it changes the minimum focusing distance a little bit, but I think that is unavoidable with a speed booster. I love the .7 x as it makes my 1.6 crop more enjoyable at only 1.12. Auto focus is super snappy, maybe even faster than with the kit lens. And best of all, the speed aspect. Getting another f. stop is great, especially when you are looking at $50-$500 difference between a f.2 lens and a f.2.8 lens.
Question & Answer
Question :
Does this adapter work with canon ef-s lenses? some people say it does and other say it doesn’t.
Answer :
Hey! I have the 10-18mm EF-S lens and it will not mount on this because of the glass element. BUT - if you physically remove the rubber that protrudes it may fit. I saw someone do that on youtube but you can see the inner barrel of the ens at 10-12mm which to me defeats the purpose of it.
I believe the main thing that prevents EF-S from mounting is that rubber that protrudes into the sensor.
Question :
Can it adapt Nikon lens to mirrorless cam aswell?
Answer :
Viltrox adapter is designed for Canon M50 camera as far as I know.
Question :
Will it work with sigma 18-35?
Answer :
No. The Sigma 18-35 Art is an EF-s lens will not work with this adapter and the EOS-M body. EFS lenses will vignette with a visible circle in the corners.
Question :
Is this better than canon’s adaptor?
Answer :
Hello,
I haven't tried the Canon version, but the Viltrox (EF lens only) is a speed booster. Canon adaptor vs Fotodiox EF/EFS adapter is a better comparison.
The Viltrox allows you to open the f-stop by 1 stop & reduce the 1.6 crop factor (example a 50mm f1.8 NOW resemble a 56.8mm f1.2).
The auto focus is 9/10!! Imagine quality is great but there is a glass element in the center of the Viltrox but image quality is still awesome. I love the Viltrox!!
Question :
Would i be able to use canon 18-135 stm lens? thanks
Answer :
Technically, the 18-135 lens will be able to connect to this adapter... BUT the 18-135 lens is a crop sensor lens so using it with this adaptor will cause major vignetting. You'll only want to use this adapter with full frame lenses (EF lenses not EF-S). So I would NOT get this specifically for the 18-135 lens.
Question :
Would the lens - tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 di ii vc (b018) lens for canon ef-mount (hd) work with this adaptor for canon m50?
Answer :
Unfortunately, no. This lens is for aps-c mount cameras and this adaptor only supports ef mount full frame lenses.
Question :
Will this work with the new Canon R5 or R6?
Answer :
Sorry no. This will only fit to M mount bodies, not EF or RF mount bodies. The R, R5 and R6 cameras are RF bodies
Question :
Hi. will this work with canon m6mark2 with an ef 24mm 1.4? will servo and eye-focus work well?
Answer :
I think so, my m50 with 16 35 L 4 works well
Question :
Does it fit on the canon eos m100?
Answer :
Viltrox EF-EOS M Electronic AF Auto Focus Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Canon EOS-M (EF-M Mount) Mirrorless Camera M1 M2 M3 M5 M6 M10 M50 M100. Based upon the Amazon web site compatibility site yes it will work on a Canon M100 .
Question :
Will this work with sigma 16mm f1.4?
Answer :
Two parts to the answer, optical and mechanical. Also, I don't own that lens and can't confirm first-hand.
The Viltrox adapter reduces the size of the image circle projected onto the sensor. The increases the light hitting the sensor by one stop and it widens the view to match a full frame angle of view.
Optical, that lens is projecting a smaller image circle for a crop sensor. Reducing it more would cause vignetting. On that point, the answer is no. This adapter/ lens convocation does not work.
Mechanically, many of Sigma's lenses mount on an EF mount. If that's true in this case, then yes it will mechanically mount.
