Seems awesome, no complaints so far!

It's hard to compare the performance of this against any other similar antennas because I went from an indoor not-even-resonant handheld antenna to this thing on my roof. Needless to say, it kicks the indoor antenna's butt fairly comprehensively. I went from about 40 messages per second to about 250 when I switched over to this, and that's with 50ft of 9913 coax. I have yet to trim the coax and add a filter, but even without those tweaks, I'm more than happy with the performance here.

The construction of the antenna feels very nice, on par or better than other Comet and Diamond stuff I have. I wish the antenna mount was a little more flexible, but for the cost, I'm not complaining. It's definitely robust and the included hardware (u-bolts, nuts, washers, lock washers) is also high quality.

I dunno how well it will hold up, but so far I'm quite pleased!

Great antenna for ADS-B reception

Have tried multiple different antennas including several homemade antennas and two ordered from AliExpress. This one beats them all in number of aircraft tracked and distance. Tracked over 300k positions in the last 24 hours, including 2500 over 250 miles away. Am somewhat blocked to the north by the North Georgia mountains, but it helps being located at 1300 feet elevation and about 45 miles north of Atlanta's busy Hartsfield airport. This antenna is mounted inside my attic. I am using a TV preamp and a FlightAware Pro Stick+ with an additional external FlightAware filter to notch out a commercial FM station about 2 miles away. Am typically in the top 50 feeders worldwide. Highly recommend this antenna. Fun times!

This thing is incredible

This antenna took a little effort to set up but the results are well worth it. I'm running flightradar24 on a raspberry pi. Previously with the standard nooelec usb dongle antenna, my max range was about 40-50 miles. With this antenna I've been able to track aircraft out to about 150 miles. Previously the most I've tracked simultaneously is maybe 5 or 6 aircraft, now it's not uncommon to see 40+ aircraft tracked simultaneously. To get this to work with the nooelec usb dongle you will need the following cables and adapters: N-type male to SMA-Type male cable of desired length and SMA-Type Female to MCX-Type Male jumper. For installation I used a 10' galvanized 1" conduit and some screw clamps to secure it to the chimney. This is a must have for an ads-b enthusiast

What an upgrade!

Great antenna compared to my previous DIY can antenna previously I got ~100nm miles max now 200+ and previously max I would get ~200 messages a sec now I've seen up to 1000 messages sec. For comparison on the chart screenshots I received the antenna on the 12th(transition day) so the 11th is the old antenna and 13th is the new antenna. Multiple reasons to buy this antenna supports a hobbyist network also supports 978mhz unlike the FlightAware one. I Realize my setup has some bad parts like being in the attic and using RG6 so I would suggest against either of those conditions if possible. Great way to feed ADSBExchange and other ADS-B networks, though I prefer ADSBExchange!
Edit: I stopped feeding FlightAware data🙃

Nice Upgrade
Verified Purchase
My experience is similar to that of others. This antenna gets probably 25% to 35% more planes and frames/sec than the best antenna I had tried before that at the same height.

The radome appears to be well-bonded to the mount. I'm using it in an attic, so I can't speak to weather resistance. The mount lends itself to lots of options for different installation ideas.

This is a very nice antenna at a good price. There are very few UHF or microwave antennas available in this price range in 2022, and this one really does perform well.

Well made dual band collinear antenna!
Verified Purchase
This is a great dual band antenna for the same price as the FlightAware single-band antenna. Enables a single antenna and cable on the roof for both frequencies. No reduction in flights received on 1090, but added 978 coverage as on a different dongle split from same antenna.

Overall really happy with this for the price!

Great SDR
Verified Purchase
I love this little SDR. Took about 5 minutes to get it out of the package and on the air. Couple with a good antenna and this thing REALLY shines. I am using a small vertical antenna mounted in my attic. If you are using any coax larger than RG-174, I recommend a short 6” USB extension to prevent strain on the usb. I have used this on a Mac with cubicSDR and on a raspberry pi with the adsb exchange pi image. Really a lot of fun.

Works great!, I doubled my ADS-B flightaware range
Verified Purchase
This antenna was worth the upgrade. I use Flightaware ADS-B RPI station and with the default antenna was only getting up to 50m indoors. Using this antenna I was able to double my range while still using it indoors. I would like to install it outdoor since another local user is getting 200m with his Roof mounted antenna.

Since its slighty heavy I used the included mounting hardware and attached to an 5' Antenna Mast.

Awesome antenna!

Wow! I’ve read that placement is everything. Even so, I can’t help but think the antenna itself made the difference I’m seeing over the toy antenna that came with my NESDR. I went from avg 4 planes within 50 miles to dozens out to >250miles. Yes, I moved it to the top of the roof using LMR400 coax and also split the signal to a second FA orange for UAT. 2,500 reported daily positions -> more than 25K.

best antenna yet for ADSB
Verified Purchase
Antenna is easy to install, simple to connect and outperforms all the other antennas I've tried for ADSB

Even higher gain antennas can increase range but also can cause trouble with planes directly overhead or too close - this seems to be the perfect compromise and provides an optimal signal to the receivers -

The 5.5 dB gain and dual band tuning make this a great solution

Custom Questions & answers

Question:I would have to mount this in my attic. Is it worth getting for attic mount?
Answer:I replaced one of the little mag-mount antennas in my attic with this one and noticed a significant difference in range, so in my experience....yes!

Question:What order do the screws belong in? My guess: The nut on the outside, the multi-layer curled flap thing, than the flat piece, than the antenna?
Answer:The nuts and washer connect to the U-Bolt on the Antenna side. The mast should be in between the U-Bolt and Flat bracket. You do not want to put the U-Bolt around the antenna or it can cause damage.

Question:Can you provide the hole pattern distances and diameters on the mounting plate ? Thanks
Answer:Holes are 9mm [.35"] diameter. Holes are 40mm [1.6"] on center vertically, and 60mm [2.36"] horizontally (antenna is vertically polarized.) The mounting plate is flat, 1.8mm [0.07"] thick, just slightly thicker than 15 gauge steel plate. The antenna is manufactured overseas, hence the regular metric measurements.

Question:After the initial y-splitter to provide the 2 sdrs the signals needed, if i split them again to feed a separate feeder, what's the implications?
Answer:You're dividing the signal strength again

Question:Should I ground this antenna?
Answer:Grounding is not necessary for functionality . If it is mounted on the roof treed it as a lightning rood.

Question:Which cable should i purchase to connect this to the flightaware pro stick plus?
Answer:N Male to SMA male connection on a length of cable you desire.
