Great Product for Easy Clean Hook Up of P16-M Mixers on Stage or in Studio

Arrived on time and in great condition. I'm running six p16-Ms on stage nd this makes for a clean installation voiding the need to use the power supplies that come with the P16-M. I recommend this gear designed for this purpose.

Comments regarding using the P16-M on stage: In my experience these units work great as "in ear" monitors.. Simply because having multiple units on stage controlling audio to floor monitors may cause havoc for the sound man trying to figure out which unit was adjusted so loud that it causes feedback. As you know when the monitors are controlled by the soundman, he will know which slider to drop should there be feedback. However, if the soundman is using 2 or more monitor systems and they both include microphone signals than he will not readily know which system is causing the feedback. It is the same issue when you have multiple P16-M on stage controlling audio to floor monitors.

I did figure out a way to first route each P16-M through a master fader on my X32 which gave me the master kill switch for feedback but still... that changes the level of audio to the musicians and vocalists and makes for very hectic management of the monitors. Instead, use a single P16-M for simplicity or try.. multiples but not before some training of the man at the controls.

EXCELLENT HEADPHONE DISTRIBUTION FOR X32 DIGITAL MIXER

These are great and the price is very reasonable. Good quality construction. If you need to distribute headphone mixes in an X32 universe this is very cool. I have two, one on each side of the studio so we can locate the headphone mixers close to the musicians without wire all over the place. Love the X32 system.

Question & Answer

Question :

Whats the difference between this and a normal network switch?

Answer :

It is similar to a network switch in that it connects multiple P 16 remote mixers to the X air. The main thing that we found beneficial was that it also powered all those p16 units via the network cables so we didn’t have to have power supplies all over the stage for each of the individual piece 16s. Hope that helps

Question :

Can i run one cat5 from the p16-i at the soundboard to a p16-d on the stage, then run 6 cat5s to the 6 p16-ms?

Answer :

In my experience that worked for me, but I did not have a p16i (the concept should be the same). You may want to test it, but I believe you would send cat5 from p16i to p16d input, then out to all p16ms.

Question :

I already own 1 of these, my question is if I purchase another will I be able to daisy chain them together?

Answer :

I believe you can daisy chain them. The behringer forum group is pretty responsive. You might post your question there for more info.

Question :

If i am using the behringer x32 sound board, will i need the input module (p16-i), or can i go directly from the board to this via supernet (cat5)?

Answer :

no you will not need the p16i. The p16i is for interfacing with analogue signals. In the back of your x32 there is an cat5 port labeled ultranet. Plug on cat5 to that to the p-16d and now you have power and signal to your p16m

Question :

Is thers a way to connect this and the wireless router in order to use my tablet and be mobile in the room?

Answer :

No. The 16 d is a power supply and distribution amp for the special signal the monitor boxes use. It must be hooked up by a cable.

Question :

Will this (p16-d) work with mackie dl1608

Answer :

I believe the ultranet protocol of the Beringer monitoring system is perpriety and will only work with the Beringer mixer. It simply uses the standard RJ45 connector. The RJ45 on the DL1608 is for the WiFI functionality. I recommend you confir with either Behringer engineers on this. There is a Behringer device that will convert up to 16 analog outputs into the Behringer digital protocol language allowing you to use the Behringer P16M however you will need an analog output for each channel you wish to convert to the Behringer monitor system.
Recommend you think about using the Behringer PM1 module connected to an XLR cable then to an aux port. Then each musician can control the volume for their own monitor system via ios device. Or better yet route the all aux ports to a single mix then you control it once, if their is a problem any particular performer no liking the mix levels than you can give that performer, or all, their own mix. It's all in the output routing. I am using it now on my DL32R. Works great! So far were using a single mux and tried it just once.

Question :

Isn't this just an overpriced network switch? Is there's something special I'm missing?

Answer :

No

Question :

are these only compatible with digital mixers?

Answer :

This is only compatible with Digital Mixers that run Unltranet AES50 protocol. Which is only the Behringer X32 and Midas M32

Question :

What all do you have to have to make this work? What all equipment is required for this set up too work?

Answer :

X32 soundboard, cat 5 or 6 wires p-16 receivers

Question :

Can this be rack mounted?

Answer :

"As is"...no.
Placed mine on a rack mounted tray, which is fine for me because my system is a home setup and doesn't travel.
