Frugal Guy Buys Case and is happy
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 4/5/6 OTAs | Verified Purchase
The case just arrived yesterday. I hurridly brought it home, ripped open the box like the leg lamp in a Christmas Story and found as expected a very well made soft/hard sided, well padded telescope case. After unzipping the clam shell and packing my Nexstar 6SE into the telescope cavity, which by the way I had to wedge in, stretching the bag and its padding more than I felt comfortable. When the scope was strapped in and the padding blocks situated, all was well. The other half of the case held a decent amount of stuff, including the right angle corrector, AAA batteries, data and power cables, and a few other items. Not a lot of space but ok, I would have liked a bit more stowage, but given the telescopes size and weight alone, keeping this end of the clam shell modest helps in the overall totability. With owners manual in the side pocket I closed the unit, zipped it up and closed the velcro handle and away I walked to check out its weight. Again it was heavy but manageable.

Note - I am the guy that drove around two years with his scope in the shipping boxes it came in. I have to tell you discount or not, it was a bitter pill to swallow at first but from the outset the case is impressive and I hope that in the future it continues to delight my frugal senses.

11" Edge Fits good, but not Great, still worth buying
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 8 and 9/11 OTAs | Verified Purchase
I had bought this last month for my 11" Edge HD, I had to remove the 2 end pads and the long rear pad in the back section, it still hangs over the zipper but the side storage compartment is lightly padded to give it room to zip up, but as said by others you just want to use the storage compartments for light accessories "HC, power supply cord, ect.." I would'nt put finder scope or any metal heavy items in there in fear of damaging/denting the optical tube assembly..It's safe for light travel, but I would not try to stuff it in a tight bumpy area, or stack other luggage on top of it.. For me going to star parties its better safe in this than riding in the seat belted passenger seat..Overall its cheaper and lighter than a "JMI hard case "$600 dollars",..It's as good as your gonna get for a large SCT case, If you own an 11" you'll be happy with it

Nexstar 6se - stop using your shipping box and get this
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 4/5/6 OTAs | Verified Purchase
This is a great case. Much better than using the box my Nexstar 6se was shipped in. For a while I tried using a rubbermaid bin and reusing the foam packaging, but it was not that convenient to carry around. You couldn't carry it one handed.

One side holds your scope. For the 6se you wont need the two foam spacer inserts. To get the 6se to fit, you need to stretch the case foam a bit to clear the visual back and focuser. At first I was concerned about the pressure of such a snug fit, but the foam does give a bit so it is fine. Be aware that the 4/5/6se will fit with the mount attached, but for the 8se you will need to remove the mount. Only the 8se optical tube will fit. The picture on the insert of the case (check out the pictures on the celestron site to see what I mean) shows the OTA placed with the hand control on the right and the bolt that attaches the tube to the fork arm pointing up, however I had to insert it reversed (mirrored) for that to work. In other words, when I place the OTA in the case I have the hand control on the left so the fork arm knob points up. If I placed it as the pamphlet showed, the knob would be pointing down and I think that would prevent it from laying truly flat. I had to remove the finderscope, not to mention the diagonal. The 4/5se might allow room to have them attached, but I wouldn't bet on it. It also has a nice seat belt buckle to secure it.

The other side has a slightly rigid zippered flap the size of the entire side. It is recessed so as to have enough clearance when the case is closed. Unzipping the flap and lifting it up reveals it has a full length pocket on the other side. You could possibly fit notes and small starcharts within it. I place my eyepiece tray in it even though part of it sticks out. No worries since when the flap is zipped everything inside is separated from the OTA.
Underneath where the flap lays, there are two velcro closed pouches. Inside one pouch there are three separated spaces. The other pouch has four. In one pouch, I could easily fit the finderscope, the diagonal, and AC power cord. The other pouch will accommodate eyepieces, filters and other odds and ends. The pouches themselves feel slightly padded as well.

The handles include a velcro wrap to make sure the straps stay together. The outer shell is a bit rigid, but I would not go about dropping or banging it around. Don't expect to step on it and not crunch something inside. It is a vessel to store your OTA and accessories elegantly and convenient to carry around one handed. While the case itself looks like it would withstand normal wear and tear, I wouldn't want to cause any damage to it that would affect the contents inside.

Do yourself a favor and get this case. While it is hard to justify the cost of this as opposed to a DIY solution. This is designed for your scope and it is worth it in my opinion.

Great fit for the 8SE scope and its accessories, but not for the motorised mount and tripod.
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 4/5/6 OTAs | Verified Purchase
oh, I was a bit worried about how to get the telescope and motor mount into this one box. As it happens I can't. My Celestron 8SE scope will only fit in this case with a couple of cables and attachments, the motorised mount I have had to put elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, this is the perfect case for my scope and keeps it safe and secure whilst in storage or transit.

*** Remember you can only get the 8SE scope in this case with some of the lens and accessories, the mount and tripod will not fit in here***

Does the job
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 8 and 9/11 OTAs | Verified Purchase
Purchased this used Celestron case to hold a C8 Evolution including the mount. As promised this used case was indeed like new. As others have noted about these cases in general they don't seem as sturdily built and as well designed as one would expect for the price. Buying used helps the price/value equation a bit.
The telescope fits nicely even with an added dovetail track mounted on the side of the tube, and there is lots of room for accessories in pouches under the lid.
Hint #1 - lubricate the zippers with Door Ease. This is a lubricant that comes in a stick, available at most hardware stores and undoubtedly on Amazon. It is just magic for lubricating doors, drawers and zippers. The zippers ran much more smoothly after lubrication and should last longer.
Hint#2 - there is room around the telescope for some small accessories if you enclose them in padded cases. I use insulated lunch bags from the dollar store.
Overall this case seems like the best "off-the-shelf" solution to storing and transporting a Celestron 8, including single arm fork mount.

Ideal for my Celestron NexStar 8SE
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 8 and 9/11 OTAs | Verified Purchase
Adequate size to hold my NexStar 8SE wit an autofocuser and the mount. Sufficient storage area for many incidentals (cords, filters, filters, etc.) There are pockets for eyepieces; however, I found other items vice the eyepieces since I have them in their own case.

Good case
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 4/5/6 OTAs | Verified Purchase
This seemed like a great case to hold your OTA. It’s just massive. I had gotten this to hold my 6” ACF and it was just too big for my liking. It came with some padding and is equipped with an elastic strap to hold your OTA in place. It’s a very sturdy soft case and I wouldn’t be too worried about my OTA had I dropped it from, say about, hand held height.

Sturdy case for the RASA 8”
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 8 and 9/11 OTAs | Verified Purchase
This case is exactly what I needed for storing and hauling my RASA 8” out to the star park. It just barely fits when the celestron focus motor is attached. I just have to place it at an angle as shown in my photo.

Overall, solid case and very pleased. I wish there were cheaper options, but it’s a specialty item for a specific size. I’d buy it again.

Great case for the Celestron 8 inch (NexStar 8se) telescope tube.
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 4/5/6 OTAs | Verified Purchase
Bought this for the Celestron 8se telescope and the scope tube fills the entire case. You will need another case for any significant parts (like the arm). It holds the tube well, and there is room for some small things like a few adapters or lenses.

Overall the case seems well-made. I haven't put it through the ringer yet so I am guessing at its durability - it seems strong and is definitely lightweight.

Pretty much as advertised
Size: Deluxe Case - NexStar 8 and 9/11 OTAs | Verified Purchase
Performs as described, good protection for the Telescope tube and the motor drive. Must be careful to not lean anything heavy against it as it will indent the case.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:Can I carry my Celestron NexStar 130 SLT telescope in it?
Answer:I bought mine for the Nextstar 8se and it's a perfect fit for that. I looked at the specs for your scope and they show 28" long. The inside of this case is 26" so I would say it would not fit.
Celestron says there is no case for it, but you might start here:
Even though that item isn't available scroll through the also viewed section, you might find something.
You might also look at http://www.astronomyforum.net/telescope-forum/153228-case-celestron-nexstar-130slt.html
You could also think about a wheeled trunk
Youl'd need to add some padding, I got one for the scope accessories.

Question:Celestron NexStar 6 SE Telescope..Can be used in this case?
Answer:Yes I am using it for a Celestron nextstar 6 you take out a spacer pad they have in there for the 4 inch and you have to take the eyepiece and the sight off. I fits very tightly and there are pockets to hold all your extras like eyepieces etc. I have been traveling in a 5th wheel camper with it since June of 14 until now( Dec 2014) and it has held the scope verey safely. It is sturdy and rather heavy though. Be advised it only holds the Telescope and accessories you have to carry the tripod seperately.

Question:Will this case work fro a Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Computerized Telescope? Or is there a better case? If so what is the better case?
Answer:The NexStar 130SLT does NOT fit. I don’t know why Celestron Tech Support keeps saying it does. I sent mine back yesterday and notified them- and they still insisted it does fit- even sent along a photo.

Question:Does the motorized mount fit in this case along with the optical tube (Nexstar 8SE)?
Answer:Dear James, I confirm that the both the optical tube and the mount for the Nexstar 8SE fits into the case. You only need to adjust the tube along the dovetail so that the edge is set close to the mount basis.

Question:Will this case hold my nexstar 8se attached to the mount with my starsense auto alignment accessory still attached to the optical tube?
Answer:The case holds everything for my 8 inch Nextsar Celestron except the tripod. Also has some pockets to hold manuals...eyepieces....etc. I believe it will only hold the tube and not the mount on larger scopes.

Question:Does celestron even make a case that will fit the nexstar 130 slt? the internal dimensions tell that this one will not hold the 130slt.
Answer:As far as I can determine, Celestron does not make a case specifically for the 130 slt. You might contact celestron to find out if they have any recommendations.

Question:Will this hold the tube and arm for the Celstron Evolution 6? It would be nice to see what the inside of the case looks like.
Answer:Hi Rabil,
The Celestron case holds my Nextstar 6 SE optical tube and fork arm-- it has plenyy of space and padding for both. If you have saved the styrofoam (or whatever) packing that your scope came with, you should save it as it may be useful in arranging the interior configuration of your carrying case to fir your particular scope.

Question:Will this case accomodate my Celestron CPC 800 XLT?
Answer:I'm not sure. I use the case with a NextStar 8. There is plenty of room for the telescope, the arm, and all sorts of the accessories and some other odds and ends. I do not carry the tripod inside the case. There are also a couple of foam spacers in the case that are about 4 1/2 inches thick in total, but could be removed to provide additional space. I would send you picture, but I can't figure out how to do that with this application. If you want to send an email to me at stein525@hotmail.com, I'll take a picture and send it back via email.

Question:How difficult is it to dissemble and reassemble a celestron nexstar 8se in order to use this case? i have ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet
Answer:It depends on how many accessories you add to the Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) . Everything added to the OTA has to be removed before the OTA is stowed in the case. If all you have is the eyepiece...easy peasy. But, start adding a TELRAD, finder scopes, star diagonals, Star Sense Cameras, , GPS, etc...they will have to come off. Still, it is not time-consuming after a little practice. Also, the OTA will have to be removed from the alt/az mount...still dirt simple. My SCT 8 Evolution, (which is loaded to max every time) only takes 10 mins to disassemble and stow on a bad day.

Question:My celestron cpjc deluxe hd tube measures 24" l x 12.5" dia. seller claims 11" tubes, but i wonder if it will fit?
Answer:I just got out my case and a tape measure and measured the interior dimensions as 26” long by 14” wide by 10” deep.
