No more dust!

I use this brush for records that have a fair amount of dust on them. I use a carbon fiber anti-static brush for lighter jobs. This brush clears the dust off my records with no problem. According to the instruction manual, the "cleaning solution" is simply distilled water. I use the distilled water with the brush and it works fine. I haven't used the brush alone or with another cleaning product.

This is honestly better than most record cleaning kits I've found

This is honestly better than most record cleaning kits I've found. The main brush bit cleans my records of oil and dust better than any other brush I have tried. I never really use the water or included sponge. The brush is where it's at.

I've been collecting vinyl for roughly five years. Sometimes I buy newly pressed records, sometimes I buy old used records. Typically speaking, both the new and used ones need to be cleaned after I buy them. I inherited a really nice turntable from my dad, and he used a cleaning kit to clean his records way back when. The cleaning kit (I believe it was a Memorex kit) contained a small velvet cleaner, a small bristled brush, and a small bottle of cleaning solution. Until recently, I had been using that kit to clean my records -- and then it finally ended when the velvet cleaning stick started shedding. I tried to clean a new record, and small pieces of black velvet were left stuck onto it. It's a bright yellow record, so I could see it quite obviously and it took a while to clean it up. I knew it was time to replace the old cleaning kit, so I ordered this one to replace it after reading the reviews. I'm very glad I did -- this brush is much nicer and cleans much better than the one I inherited with my dad's turntable. It's a large brush with plenty of surface area. The handle is wooden with a sliding compartment to hold the bottle of distilled water that comes with it, and the brush is black velvet. You're supposed to use the brush once at an approximate 45 degree tilt to clean your record with the solution, and once again with the same tilt at the opposing end to dry it. The real test came from an incident that happened about a month ago when I accidentally dropped my copy of Eddie Hazel's "Game, Dames, and Guitar Thangs." (Shame on me, but I was baked at the time and tend to get butterfingers!) Thankfully it wasn't damaged, but it definitely picked up a dirty coating of lint and dust. Enter the Crosley cleaning brush -- a few smooth runs with this baby and Hazel's wax, shiny as an ebony piano, sounds as clean and full as it should and his guitar flourishes are richer than ever. I'd recommend this cleaning brush to any serious music enthusiast.

This is just like what we used in the 70s. Good quality velvet to help pick up the dust particles. A little pricey, but not outlandish.

I'm so glad I read the reviews for this brush. I had given up hope for finding one like they used to make. It may not be a record cleaning machine but it lets me give my albums a little loving care at a price that my pocket book can afford. And I certainly didn't want to spend about the same amount of money on the RCA brush if it only uses corduroy for the cleaning surface. I would certainly by this brush again and will probably buy a second one soon!

NO NEED TO BUY PRICEY DISC CLEANING KITS! THIS PRODUCT WORKS! YOU'LL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IMMEDIATELY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'VE NEVER USED A CLEANING PRODUCT FOR YOUR RECORDS.

I recently acquired a USB turntable - time to head over the storage locker to retrieve those boxes of LPs. Before I played any of them I could see that they needed to be cleaned. This Crosley record cleaning kit quickly takes off the dust I can see on the records, and is quick and easy to use. The one question I had was how to clean the cleaning brush, so now keep a nice new toothbrush on hand for that purpose. I don't expect this kit to remove all the background noise on my records, but it removes the visible dust and keeps them "listenable".

Great dust and lint removal

Great product. Yes the cleaning solution isn't anything I use, really you shouldn't need to use it - if you are buying garage sale records, you'll need to buy a much higher quality cleaner, but after that you shouldn't need to use cleaner, just this brush.

Does the job.

I have been quite happy with this record cleaner. The distilled water solution does a fine job w/o chemicals or solvents and is easy to resupply by the gallon at the grocery store for $2.00. The cleaning brush itself is a solid, well made item.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:Are the brisels oriented in one direction?
Answer:It cleans in both directions if that's what you are asking.

Question:I received one today that is like a velvet feel. The material is black not red. Is there a difference? Thanks
Answer:All I can say is my records are black and the cleaner is black. If the red fabric on your cleaner is made well it should not release any color dye when cleaning your records.

Question:How do you clean the brush itself?
Answer:There's a piece of foam inside that works pretty well. Canned air also works for most things. I haven't had many problems with needing to clean it.

Question:Can you buy only the cleaner when you run out
Answer:Unfortunately, the cleaner only comes with the kit.

Question:What does ac20 mean?
Answer:I don't know what AC20 means. However call Crosley Radio consumer Service Department 24/7 at 1.888.Crosley (1.888.276.7539) Hope this helps.
