Surprisingly Good Quality Audio
I have a small collection of audio cassettes from the 1980s. With technology changing so fast, I wanted to make sure that I could transfer them over to a digital audio format. This USB Audio Grabber, especially for the price, hooked up in to my Apple MacBook Pro without an issue. I simply used my old Yamaha cassette deck plugged in with AudioQuest RCA cables into this device. In Apple Quicktime, I used the "New Audio Recording" option in the toolbar, adjusted the audio input, and recorded my old cassette tapes to digital. Sound quality depends on the original source, but I was pleased with the overall quality of the transfer through the USB Audio Grabber.

Works well, good value
Plug and play. Lots of messing around in Windows required, but that's normal. While Windows may see the device, it may also be necessary to go into sound settings and tell Windoze to actually use what it sees.
Don't bother with the included Audacity disk if you can google "Audacity download" to get the current version via internet.
So far, I've ripped a couple LPs and half a dozen cassettes, and am pleased with the results. Nice to get some of those old tunes on the server. The audio quality is excellent.
A few thoughts on Ripping using Audacity:
Once it's ripped, there are a few "Effect" filters you may wish to try out -
1) Amplify - Will apply gain to the ripped tracks, if the audio seems too low. Recommended.
2) Click - Does an OK job of handling the worst clicks and pops from LPs. It can be used selectively only where needed, or applied to the entire rip if needed. Not a cure all, but useful.
Splitting into separate tracks:
I've not been able to find a way to do that easily in Audacity, though you'd think there'd be a tool for it. Instead, I "File>Export" the entire rip as a single file, then use NCH's freeware Wavepad, which makes it easy to split.
So, I'm impressed with this tool.

Fantastic
This is what I have been searching for, for about 6 months. Analog to digital recordings that are clear stereo. The resulting file plays a very clear, faithful, stereo rendition of exactly what was entered.

You can't go wrong with this one!
They are other devices that Amazon sells which look exactly like this one - different maker though. THIS product works and does the job to transfer analog signals to digital whether it is from a cassette deck, turntable, reel to reel, etc. The hardest part is telling Audacity (the free but FABULOUS and user friendly/intuitive software included) which recording input to use. After that, this device for under $20 works like a charm. I paid 10 times that amount for an iRecord device 7 years ago. When I went to use it, it no longer worked.
Very pleased with this purchase - don't buy any of the others found on Amazon which look just like this one - BUY THIS ONE!

Great for LP Collections
The USB Audio Capture unit is super easy to use. It easily connects to a turntable using it's existing RCA connectors. Simply connect the cord from the turntable to the unit's color coded cable and then plug the USB connector into your computer. Included with the unit itself are 2 RCA male to RCA male cables that can be used to connect another device such as a cassette deck. There is a built in 3.5 mm connector so you can connect a mp3 player or other device. Included is a cd containing Audacity, the software that allows you to edit your recordings.

Made it easy to convert a cassette of my parents voices before the walkman dies.
My parents made cassettes instead of writing letter. I thought I'd lose the ability to hear their voices when my old cassette play final died. The USB Capture Card made it easy to convert the cassettes to .wav files that I can share with my siblings and that will be available to my kids and theirs. Easy to use.

Pretty amazed this works so well
I bought this to use as an audio interface for my IK Multimedia Uno Synth Pro- I was considering purchasing IK’s own iRig stream, which is $100, but thought I’d give this a try to use on my MacBook, and it worked out of the box in Logic Pro. That part wasn’t such a surprise, what was was that it actually works with so perceivable latency, I can totally play my synth in real-time without issue. I’m kind of blown away that a generic, small $30 box is doing the same thing as a $100+ audio interface.

Works as Described
I used this to record and transfer/convert a 33 rpm vinyl record to an MP3 audio file. Set up was easy and Audicity program made conversion simple. I recommend this device.

It did what I wanted
I recently got a keyboard with a volume knob on it so I could mute or turn down the volume quickly when I received a phone call. So I wanted to run the sound from my television through the computer so I could do the same with the TV.
I tried to run a cable between the headphone jack on the TV to the Mic input of the computer but since the mic input was not meant for that the sound was distorted. The USB Audio Grabber took care of that problem. A word of advise if you want to do this. You will have to go into the Sound properties on the PC and check the "Listen to this device" to get it to work.
Question & Answer
Question :
I tried on my pc windows and my Macbook pro and audacity won't give me any recording or instructions should I send it back? Can someone help on this?
Answer :
I had good results from mine. Was running OSX Yosemite on iMac at the time and copying an audio cassette from a small tape recorder.
Question :
Can I use to record vinyl onto a Chromebook? Please advise
Answer :
Hi, as long as the Chromebook has a USB-C input and you have a USB convertor, the Audio Capture Card Device should work for standard audio conversions (from a cassette deck, for example). But the USB Audio Capture Card Device doesn't have a phono convertor on it. If your turntable has a standard RCA stereo cable output and converts the signal from vinyl to analog audio, this might work. I use a separate USB convertor for vinyl record conversion to digital audio files. Good luck!
Question :
Will the adc keep the two-channel stereo input from my cassette deck separate, i.e., show up in audacity channel graph as separate signals?
Answer :
I assume you meant to say "stereo output" not "input." I don't use Audacity because I've already been using Sound Studio. On Sound Studio it shows the separate stereo signals. I assume Audacity would too. The cable simply works to adapt the rca plugs to USB.
Question :
I must rephrase my question. Which app can i use this cabel with on chrombook to record mp3 files from vinyl?
Answer :
This USB converter is for line level signals only. To record from a turntable, you will need a Phono Preamp as well. Audacity or any number of apps will do the recording once you get the low phono level amplified up to consumer line level.
Something like:
May better suit your needs for vinyl recording unless your turntable has a preamp.
Question :
I'm concerned that this will pick up background noise from the room where I'm working. What's your experience?
Answer :
Hi Lea, I haven't experienced any background noise from the room while transferring any audio. I transferred a few audio cassettes directly into Apple Quicktime audio on my Mac without any noise. The recordings seem to be based on the quality of the original tape. Good luck!
Question :
Does this device allow you to plug my lp player rca to the digital input on my receiver?
Answer :
It will depend on if your LP player already converts the record signal into its RCA output. Some LP players that I'm aware of will only output into a phono input on a receiver or pre-amplifier. Good luck!
Question :
Will this work with usb to c adapter to my mbp2018 computer? i don't have internal cd but internet audacity. using mojave. want mp3 from cassette
Answer :
It should work fine.
Question :
Does this device come with software to convert vinyl from a turntable, to mp3 on my computer. my turntable has a pre-amp?
Answer :
No
Question :
can this be used to connect a mixer to my pc for live streaming ?
Answer :
Yes. I use it to connect my Mackie 12 channel mixer. Works great.
Question :
Options for bit rate quality with mp3 or is it dependent on capture software?
Answer :
It's dependent on the capture software. The free Audacity app does a great job.
