So far so good!
In my search for wireless I bought this the other month... then returned it. It worked just fine from what I could tell, but I had a few minor issues with it.
A) The negative reviews scared me a little bit.
2) It didn't fit on my pedal board particularly well. I was really going to have to rearrange things to make it fit.
D) It looks a bit dated.
So... I returned it, and decided to pony up more cash for the better reviewed, slightly more mordern looking Shure GLXD16. Well, the signal dropped consistently with the Shure from even just a foot away from it. It was constantly rescanning. Tried different groups, etc.. everything. It just didn't work. So it got sent back... then, it showed up again on Prime Day lightning deal for a price that couldn't be beat... I must have got a lemon that first time... I'll try again... and try I did. And guess what...? Same thing. I was lucky to go two minutes without a drop, and not just a note or two, for up to 25 seconds in some cases.
I decided to give the G50 a proper try. Well, I have just burned through the first set of batteries (about 5 hours of play time on the cheap in-box batteries) and not had a single drop out in my finished basement where my rig is, then walked up two levels to the furthest corner of the house, and still no drops. I can definitely recommend this over the Shure from my personal experience.
I have not gigged with it yet (will in about a month and will try to update the review after that). But so far I have not experienced anything like the battery door issue, or other things that people have mentioned in negative reviews. Another guitarist I know and have played with also has this unit and has gigged with it for years and has said he's never had a single issue with it in any venue.
UPDATE: I did my first gig with this thing in a decent sized venue and it was rock solid! Not a single drop and range was great.
Don't let the reviews scare you away. This is a great unit and so far has been more reliable for me than the higher priced Shure.

Wireless Worries Gone with G50
I had been stepping on my guitar chords and it was reaping out of the guitar socket. Not good! This had been going on for a long time. In fact I think I ruin one of my guitars that way. @##$$!.
Then I had a revelation and a challenge to find a wireless guitar hookup. Question was, are there any good wireless guitar systems out there? I did some research and read many reviews. The cheaper ones were too inconsistent. Badly made. Had interference. Affected the quality of the guitar sound.
Then I found the Line 6 Relay G50 wireless system. I was very impressed. It sounded great! The quality was just as good if not better. I am not a very technical guy, so there is no way for me to measure the differences. I could only depend on my good hearing. The sound was very acceptable to great. It depends on which effects you use. I generally play a "clean" guitar sound. I only use distortion very rarely. That is not my type of music.
I was skeptical of the product. There were some mixed reviews, but for me it has been great. I like the "free" feeling of not being physical or emotional tied to the amp space with its chord limitations. I feel more comfortable and less worried about stepping on wires. As a result its one less thing for me to worry about when I am recording or at a gig.
I was also surprise of the distance it provides. I can be at about 50-75 feet away and it still has a strong signal. I think the promo for this product mentions 200 feet, but I will never be that far. The other thing is if you don't have ear plug monitoring, you can not hear yourself from that far anyway.
Just to be clear here. I used this product with a Line 6 Jam amp 75 watts. A Taylor T5z classic guitar. I also use two EV-1000 watt PA system, mixed through a Yamaha 10 channel mixer. Your sound may vary but it will work just as good.
Now for the negatives. There are absolutely no instructions on the setup. You figure it out. Bah!. It simple to those who know, but again nothing on the connections. 1. Plug G50 transmitter on to guitar. Plug guitar chord from base "main out" unit to amp or to in to stomp box" 2. Second chord from stomp box to out line to amp. Again easy but no instructions what so ever. To avoid noise or large feedback lower all volume controls until unit lights up and increase slowly. Initially there was a hum but that was an "Aux" plug from my Zoom recorder that needed to be removed from the amp.
Other than that unit works flawlessly, No hums, no interference even though I only use channel 1, the unit has 12 channels to choose from.
The base receiver unit is small enough to sit on a amp or PA cabinet. It has two folding antennas. Easy to store. You will need an electrical plug for power on the receiver device. The pocket transmitter is sturdy and durable. It has a small display which indicates power is on and shows channel selection, as well as battery life, which is expressed in minutes. The transmitter requires two AA batteries. The batteries don't last very long.
Always carry extra AA batteries. I am going to guess that the batteries life on the transmitter will last about 6 hours the most. Don't ever depend on your host to provide any help. And always install fresh batteries when you go on a gig. You won't be sorry. It has never happen to me, but there is
always a first time.
Cons: No instructions included, not even online. Transmitter battery life is limited. Transmitter pack is a bit heavy. Secure the transmitter body pack to the guitar strap, or purchase a case. I like to attach the transmitter to my 2.5 inch, leather guitar strap. I can then check the power on and also mute it if I have to.

Great Wireless System
I ordered the Line 6 Relay G50 WGS a few weeks ago. I never realized how nice it would be to have a wireless system, but it really is. I ordered mine on a Friday and it arrived the next Monday morning. I opened the box that evening and set it up. I skimmed through the instructions, but it was all very straight forward. When I finally plugged my guitar in and strummed an E chord: no sound. I systematically went through the system very quickly and realized that the cable that goes from the guitar to the transmitter was bad. I could bend the cable at a certain spot and the system would start to work. But it would cut out while I was playing sometimes. Not being familiar with the TA4F plug on the transmitter side, I began to panic. I bought the system on Amazon, but the seller was Electric Guitar. They apparently do not carry many cables, so the only options they could provide were returning the entire system or offering to contact Line 6 for me to get a replacement cable.
I decided to call Line 6 myself. They were really nice and sent out a replacement cable right away. In the mean time I had done research on the TA4F plug and realized that they are available. I wanted to have another one with a right angle 1/4" plug on the instrument side anyway. You can get them for about $20. So there was a little buzz kill at first, but I wouldn't give the product less than 5 stars. It is super easy to set up and it just works like its supposed to.

Perfect for me!
I've used this for my bass setup for 2 years worth of gigs without problem. I use it for every gig and I get compliments on my sound all the time. This tells me that my bass still sounds good even over wireless, so there's really no degradation of the tonal quality I'm trying to achieve. The response time is "good enough" because I don't play on super massive stages, just local venues. It's easy to use, easy to setup, and doesn't drain batteries too fast. I was going to give it a 4 star just to be nit-picky about the wireless distance (can delay a bit if you walk about 30 yards away from your setup (as expected, and not a big deal because I only do that to check sound at outdoor gigs), but then I remembered how little I paid for the device when compared to other professional wireless setups. Definitely 5 stars.

Incredible!
I had another mid range wireless and besides the fact that it kind of worked, the quality was so lame and there was always a slight delay when I would get over 15 feet from the unit.
Back in the day I purchased a high end Shure Wireless system. The best there was to get and spent well over 800 for it. This unit. Is that Shure unit times 1000. I always use the best cables money can buy because i feel that the truest signal you can get from your guitar to the amp is so important. This unit sounds as good if not better than any cable I have ever used. So far I have only gotten a chance to play with it in my 3500+ square footage home and I can go anywhere on my property! It sound amazing! No delay or anything!!!
Bottom Line! This is by far the best wireless unit I have ever played through!

Best wireless system for the money.
Started looking for a wireless system for my 5 string Bass, and Line 6 wasn't even in the thought process. Was thinking about shure or sennheiser. I always like to research my purchases to death before plunking down my hard earned cash, and finding out it's just not going to work for me. The G50 works, sounds, and sets up great. Like the peddle style instead of the half rack look. A while back I bought a Boss GT 6B everything peddle, but hated my cable coming from the front of the stage, as I would constantly be flinging it out of my way, so I just stopped using it. With the G50's peddle likeness, it fits right down there with my Boss peddle, and I'm not tripping over my cord anymore.
If you decide to get the G50, add these to your shopping list to:
- Levy's Leathers Wireless Receiver Holder For Guitar
- Shure WA304 - TA4F to 1/4" Angle
- eneloop NEW 2000mAh Typical, 1900mAh Minimum, 1500 cycle, 4 Pack AA, Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with 4 Position Charger.
- (6 Pack) AA / AAA Bright Orange 4 Cell Battery Case with Charge Reminder Markings
That will complete the package.

Very sturdy, high quality, no loss of tone.
As others have noted, this thing (both transmitter and receiver) is built like a tank. All metal (vs. all other units which are plastic). Had Samson for years, and many plastic parts kept failing, had to use duct tape to secure the door, padding to make the batteries connect, etc., etc.
The battery door on my unit is very hard to open and close; I have fixed it myself, but consider it only a minor inconvenience, as the thing loaded with rechargeables will last more than a 4 hour gig.
Still going strong after almost 6 years, 30 gigs per year.

Well worth the purchase price.
This is so much better than the old X2 system I upgraded from. Range is great, quality of construction is great, battery life is great, and sound quality is in my opinion better than direct cable. Having the transmit battery level displayed on the receiver is also a big plus because I keep the receiver on my pedalboard. All it takes is a quick glance to know how much juice is left. Initially I did experience a couple of dropouts but switching to a different channel and trying different antenna orientation seems to have cured that problem.

Solid transmitter
Definitely worth the upgrade from the G30 -- my G30 had the oft-reported battery door problem. The G50 xmitter is really solid -- while I never get more than 50 feet from the unit, I've never had a drop out problem, even if not directly line-of-sight (pretty fun to step outside the club and jam on the patio occasionally...) The external antennas are weird though, I always feel they have to be protected while traveling or on the gig, although no problems doing that, so far.

I was skeptical
I'm a tone pig and was fully expecting to send this unit back after I ordered it. I needed a system that would work both for loud surf punk but would also work for a (nearly) acoustic jazz/folk/swing bad as well. This unit worked right out of the box. The most difficult thing to figure out was which way the batteries went in. It comes with settings that let you color and slightly delay the signal from your guitar to your amp, letting you mimic cables of various lengths. I didn't think I'd use it, but sure enough, there's a slight but noticable difference between the settings: not so much that you'd notice strumming chords, but for clean, fast fingerpicking there's a different feel to each setting. I haven't tried it on stage yet, but it's been working well during practice. I can go upstairs in my house, or outside on the street, and still play with my amp in my music room. It feels sturdy and durable too. I still haven't figured out whether I want to wear it or keep it on my guitar strap (it's a little heavy on the strap and bangs the guitar a bit, but I figure that will come with time. I'm using it with a solid body electric; an archtop electric, and an accoustic with a bridge pickup, and it seems to work well with all of them.
Question & Answer
Question :
Does the transmitter come with a 1/4 cable?
Answer :
Yes it does, it comes with a special 1/4 cable that attaches to the transmitter.
Question :
Can you add transmitters? Assuming it connects to the guitar strap, wouldn't this be best for a two guitar rig?
Answer :
Yes you can. Just set the channel on the 2nd transmitter to the same channel on the receiver, and the 1st transmitter. This is assuming a 2 guitar rig is you switching between 2 guitars.
Question :
Do I still need a preamp for my acoustic transducer pickup?
Answer :
Yes, I would think so. There is no gain boost.
Question :
Is this only able on line of site or can i play it in another room. As in amp in one room while playing inAnother room
Answer :
It is possible to play in another room, however the recommendation is to always have a line of site when you're on stage or performing live for the best possible performance from the system.
Question :
Does this work with active emg pups?
Answer :
I need more info on meg pups , can you explain .
This works fine , without other interferences , ie microwave or ground notices
I used it around the house and did not have issue.
I also suggest G10 , but does not have analog switch and 15 feet is the longest without loosing its signal
Question :
Hola .. funciona con el electric violin yamaha sv-130 ? gracias
Answer :
Si, funciona.
También debes usar preamplificador para un mejor sonido.
Question :
Is there any loss of low-end frequencies? I have the G30 and notice that when palm-muting, low frequencies are affected (not as much "cu-chunk).
Answer :
I don't notice any significant affect on the sound vs. a good quality cable. I made recordings with a Monster cable and with the G50 (and also with my old Sennheiser G2 wireless just for comparison). The G50 may have had a VERY subtle difference in sound, but I still think it was subconscious. If I did a blind test between the two, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell which is which. And for comparison's sake, the old analog Sennheiser sounded like absolute s*** next to the G50.
Question :
Do you need to use the active input on your amp?
Answer :
Hello,
No you do not, any input would be fine. Thanks
Question :
What is the range of the G50?
Answer :
200 feet, line-of-sight.
Question :
what are the dimensions of the transmitter pack?
Answer :
The main body is 2 5/8" wide by 3 1/4" and from tip of antenna to bottom base is 4 1/4"
