Review

It works and sounds great. setup was easy. (Windows 10)

I don't understand all the negative reviews. Unless people just don't understand how some things work, or maybe got a bad unit. But it worked out great for me and easily connected to my Windows 10 laptop. Like so many other USB devices, Windows did not automatically install the drivers. So I just went on Mackie's web site and downloaded them. I installed them and plugged it in. Everything set up perfectly. I'm considering going with powered speakers for my solo gigs, and this would be great. I also do a lot of live streaming, so this should be perfect to send audio straight to the laptop.

Helped Solve Interference Issues

I previously owned Mackie Mix5 and Mix12FX mixers, but had port burnout issues because they had no on/off switch and the only way to turn them off was to unplug them, so they just stayed on all the time. I solved that issue temporarily with a Yamaha MG-06 which had a standby switch, but developed interference problems as it only had two balanced (XLR) inputs and the DL inputs were unbalanced. So I finally went with this Mackie ProFX6, which has two Bal/Unbal DL TRS inputs in addition to the two Mic XLR ports. The Main Outs are all balanced also (XLR/TRS). The Onyx pre-amps are very clean and I get no added noise from the 48V phantom boost. I plug my mics and keyboard into this mixer and send the clean signal to a Scarlett 4i4 USB interface with no problems.

High Quality and Versatile Compact Mixer

I mix three audio feeds for live performance with this mixer. Live mono vocal, a stereo keyboard, and stereo backing tracks. The versatility and size makes this the perfect solo gig mixer when you are trying to limit the size of your equipment and still want to get the job done professionally. I also own a larger Mackie Mixer. Same quality mic pre-amps and overall pro feel.

Interesting

Easy, simple to use, great sound, interfaces with pop_os/Ubuntu without issue. Complaints that I can only attribute to board size and space limitations (no stars deducted.)

No mute to main, or individual channel mute, no FX control to phones, it passes through, but it seems to be either on/off.

Again, I don't fault the board, but if they had one that was slightly bigger and had additional mutes and controls with the same number of inputs, it would be a perfect board.

Deal and a half

I spent so much time researching how to streamline my music set up and finally landed on these mackies. I can’t believe how amazing my guitar, vocals and drums sound through this, and the effects are wonderful. This is super simple and basically sets itself up. You’ll find the sweet spot with your instruments and there are so many inputs that you will always have a way to get your sound through. Very happy with this.

Very good for the price and then some!

With so many features and connection options, this is a crazy deal for what it costs. Locking power connector just shows how Mackie pays attention to quality. Feels sturdy, the knobs dont feel cheap whatsoever either which is nice. I tried out the effects with a Korg minilogue and the reverb/delays are surprisingly good too!

An absolute gem of a mixer!

I am a pro level sax player and I bought this little mixer to add effects on my horn both in studio practice/recording and live performances. It's small and compact and features 24 effects presets - I can simply dial up and down to choose the best for each song and/or gig. The phantom power button lets me use my simpler condenser mic in my studio and my wireless set up at gigs. High quality, perfect for my needs. I strongly recommend this mixer for my horn friends.

I’m a streamer (Turonaut) on Facebook Gaming, and I just upgraded my mic from a Blue Snowball, to a AKG P120. I don’t have any past experience using XLR mics for streaming but it’s sounding amazing! I recommend this usb mixer to anyone who needs one for the same use!

Custom Questions & answers

Question:Would like to get this mixer but some people say in reviews there are major issues with Windows 10; can a Mackie specialist please clarify?
Answer:I had a hard time, at the time of my purchase, finding the proper software/driver to get the unit to work. However, once I did, it works great. Mackie really needs to fix that issue if they have not already in regards to making driver discovery easier. Windows in general does not have a default driver for the unit unlike other similar USB mixers (like the Q502U from Behringer that is plug and play).

Question:Some of the effects didn't do anything...chorus, flange and a few others. Is my unit defective?
Answer:Make sure the FX button is engaged and turned up. It needs to be engaged on the channel you want the FX on. If this hasn’t worked;

Question:How can I quickly switch between headphones and main out on this board?
Answer:You have the blend knob to determine the amount of each audio source that you want to listen to. Then you have two separate level controls one for headphones phones level and the main level on the far bottom right.

Question:does it work with 240v electricity?
Answer:The required input for this mixer is 12VDC 2A and has an included power adapter (100-240V) for the region the product is sold.

If you buy the mixer in the US and take it to Europe (for a 240V example) you will need a plug adapter for the country you plan to visit but the power supply is universal.

Question:Can someone explain delay 1-3. Is there any way to use the delay to be like latency by up to 3 seconds without changing sound wuality
Answer:Delay IS latency from when you "Make" a sound and when you "Hear" the sound. It is similar to an echo, but (usually) doesn't include the initial sound first. Think of two people, a few hundred yards apart with their backs against a wall.. One of them shouts and here's the sound immediately, and then ALSO hears an echo; the second person sees the first person shout, and then HEARS it after a delay. Clear?

SO: The delay 1-3 FX on the mixer are NOT precise and won't do what you want. Get a good DAW (ProTools comes with the mixer) - you can control latency way better there!

Question:Can this be used without usb? I just want a mixer for live vocals with a loudspeaker
Answer:Absolutely, this is a live sound mixer first, and should work perfectly with a loudspeaker, we make those too!

Thanks for the question!

Question:Can I use passive studio monitors on the main outs on the fx6v3?
Answer:Hi, no this is an unpowered mixer, you can't use passive monitors with it. You would need an amp or power speakers.

Question:Does this power supply work on 110-240 v or just on 110?
Answer:This series is designed with a universal power supply, 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz. The 6/10 channel models come with a 12VDC @ 2A wall adapter and the 12/16/22/30 come with a 3-Pin IEC line cord. This means the mixers will work anywhere in the world, provided you have the correct power plug for the country you are in.

Question:If you have audacity on your PC, it is plug and play with the usb from the mackie mixer? Thank you in advance
Answer:Hi, yes you just plug this in to your PC and using the mixer to bring in your instruments/mics into your DAW (Audacity or anything else)

Question:Will this allow you to monitor an already laid down track while recording another? Without the old track being recorded onto the new one?
Answer:With the free included DAWs either Pro Tools or Waveform yes!
