Expensive, but worth every penny
I recently installed an aftermarket head unit in a 2012 Ford Focus, which, if you are reading this, you know is not a straight forward task.
The electronics I used are a Kenwood DNX597s, and iDatalink Maestro, with the Ford wiring kit. The dash kits I used are the Metra, Scosche and finally the Maestro FOC1.
I will say up front, you are going to lose function on the 4.3 inch top screen. There are ways to retain limited function with it, but it will still be almost useless, there just isn't any point in retaining it.
The Metra and Scosche dash kits are OK, they fit well, and are easy enough to install, but both are designed to retain the 4.3 inch Sync screen. Initially I wanted to keep that screen functional, as well as the sync system, after working with the Maestro unit, Sync is gone and not missed at all. Any decent Maestro compatible head unit is going to have a far superior integration setup native to it.
The thing I like about this kit is it puts the head unit where the upper screen was, and aside from the lock/flasher buttons doesn't provide any other buttons, instead it has a storage pocket with USB, HDMI and AUX connectors. All said it uses the dash space much more efficiently. Buying this kit first would have also saved me $30 because it comes with the Focus specific wiring adaptors that I had already purchased separately.
It is a bit expensive, but allows a nice professional type install that is fairly easy. The extra room it saves inside the dash is a huge benefit. I cut most of the adaptor wires down, but with the Sirius/XM unit, GPS antenna, and Maestro in there it gets cramped, with the other options it was stuffed, with this kit things fit well.

Works very well!
It's been a few months since I installed it, but it works very well and was relatively easy to install. Least as easy as you're gonna get in a ford focus.

Question & Answer
Question :
Does this unit have the door lock/hazard light switch combo to replace the factory one?
Answer :
Yes
Question :
I placed an order, can I get mine with both door lock and hazards ?
Answer :
Yes, the kit comes with two different switches and you use the one that is needed with your model car. It has one switch that has hazards only, and the other switch has hazards and lock on it.
Question :
My 2012 focus does _not_ have ford sync. do i still need the maestro ads-mrr module?
Answer :
No, you don't have to have it, but installation will be much more difficult without it. The factory radio is turned on and off by the PCM via CANBUS, and finding key switched power could be difficult.
Question :
Will this fit a 2014 ford focus se hatchback and if so what size screen double din?
Answer :
Yes double din
Question :
how does this connect to a planet audio stereo? i’m having trouble
Answer :
This kit is designed to work with the MaestroRR interface module, if your head unit doesn't support that then you will need a different CANBUS interface and wiring harness.
Question :
Has anyone installed this on a two tone tan/black interior Focus? All the pictures I can find are on all-black interior cars, but mine is two tone.
Answer :
My focus is 2 tone, it looks great on it!
Question :
Does a 2-DIN head unit size of 178 x 100 mm will fit?
Answer :
This fits standard size double din units.
Question :
Will this work on a 2018 ford focus
Answer :
Yep
Question :
Can i get the face plate by itself? I already have the wiring harness.
Answer :
No....It only comes together in a kit. Depending on the type of radio you are installing, there are other aftermarket face plate only available.
Question :
Could I use this kit and just not use the maestro steering wheel interface?
Answer :
I believe so but none of the hands free options would work
