Looks good, fits great, and feels sturdy

This was just delivered today along with the On-Stage MS7201CH chrome mic stand that I ordered. I was excited to put it together with my Shure Super 55. I did not have to take off the mic stand's "star wheel" or the quick release tightening nut. I left everything on as I recieved it to show that it fits as is. It feels sturdy. The problem with these mics is it slows you down when you really want to move around the stage during high energy songs without dragging the stand all over the place. The quick release gives me that freedom. It fits well, looks good, and and feels like it can last a while.

Good quality! Not compatible with Atlas LO-2B.

These are a less expensive version of the Atlas LO-2B adapter, and they do a great job. In the units I received, the push button isn't quite as smooth as the Atlas equivalent, but otherwise these seem to be equal.

One important thing to note: these adapters are a slightly different size than the Atlas units, so a female part from this unit will not connect to a male part from an Atlas unit, and vice-versa. If you already have a lot of the Atlas units in service, stick with them! But if you're starting new with these, they're a great choice.

The Best Solution For Swapping Out Vintage Mics

So I have a large collection of vintage microphones from the late 30s through the early 80s. What do these things all have in common? They're designed to be screwed directly on to a mic stand which makes swapping them out somewhat tedious. In addition, many times the proximity to the stand mount socket and the cable connector make it hard to position without problems. However, with a handful of these Quik-Release adapters, swapping out is insanely easy. These little things are sturdy, they're attractive, and best of all they WORK. They also give that extra bit of riser space so that the cable doesn't conflict with the stand or a boom arm which is AWESOME. So yeah, if you have a vintage mic (or one of those modern vintage mic repros) this is what you need.

Great find

I needed two of these for my mics. The first one I didn't know what I was looking for until I found it and unfortunately for me I found it at a local music shop. They had it priced way over what it should be and I didn’t know that at the time. So when I needed a second one I looked for it here and was greatly appreciative of the cost of it here. A great option for quickly clicking on and off the microphone from your mic stand. Very happy with this and it works amazingly well with my Shure SM7B and Blue Compass mic stand.

Great Time-Saver for Pro Recording Studio.

Many of our mics have their own special shockmount. Unscrewing the mounts everytime we switched mics was too time-consuming and we also didn't want to wear out the threads in them, as some of them are a bit expensive.
Works fine with EA87 shockmount and holds first generation Neumann U87 with ease. We bought another for the Sony shockmount for our Sony C800-G and it performs great also. Best of all, they're all the same so we can leave one base on a stand and switch out any mount that's connected to the other end of another unit and it connects without issue.
We'll definitely be buying 1 for each of our shockmounts and stands.

Great for screw-on microphones

I have used these adapters for a variety of things including attaching a tip bucket to the top of a mic stand, attaching a compact mixer tray to the top of a mic stand, and quickly attaching/detaching a Shure Super 55 to the mic stand. The ease of using this for quick disconnects of threaded mic connections is well worth the price. The model has been slightly changed and improved over the years, so the new one does not mate up with the older models, meaning they won't be interchangeable; but the improvements are well worth it, making it more solid and sturdy with less wobble.

Love it! Bought another for my Theremin.

This little nubbin has changed my life! With a delicate and awkwardly shaped instrument like an Moog Etherwave Theremin, I hated screwing and unscrewing it 13 revolutions on a stand -- fiddling with screw threads, worrying that I'd accidentally loosen the stand height and send my instrument crashing to the floor. Voila! Now I set up and take down in seconds, knowing my stand fixtures remain nice and tight. After trying one for my seated height stand, I bought another for my standing height stand. Now set-up is a flash! Every time I set up or take down it makes me happy. (Note, it adds a few inches to overall stand height -- no big deal as long as you don't need your stand at its absolute lowest height).

Magic Mic adapter

I have a vintage looking ribbon microphone with the cord permanently attached at the base so spinning it around and around to screw it on a stand was always a pain. I meant to get one of these quick disconnects even since I first used this particular microphone but since I use it only in specific situations I would forget until I went to use it again and wished I had bought one. Finally I got one and it did the trick. Well made item, fast shipping and easy to install.

If you need to break down your Sound Reinforcement occasionally, you need these

These are handy ways to attach and detach mics, goosenecks and other units that attach to a mic stand. As the photo shows, the clip consists of a male and a female section of tubing with a key-hole shaped slot in the female tube that mates with a depressible button on the male tube. They are secure enough, when clicked together, to allow you to pick up the entire mic stand up by the gooseneck or mic clip (or whatever is attached to the top part of the clip). I do a lot of one-nighters for arts groups, banquets, and after-dinner entertainment, and often the set-up and break-down times are very limited. These help a lot, and I have a couple that I've used regularly for over ten years.

A word of caution. Similar clips by different manufacturers may not mate with each other. This may even be a problem with trying to mate black-finish with chrome-finish clips. I bought some black-finish clips some time ago to add to the three or four chrome clips I already had. They didn't fit, so I sent them back. I'd recommend buying as many as you think you need all at once so you don't end up with mismatches. Get one extra, as a matter of fact--It's proved handy for me a couple of times.

Bought on a whim, glad I did!

Picked this up for use between a gooseneck and a $29 FiFine mic. It's saves a minute here and there which granted, isn't a lot of time, but when you're putting together a quick video, it just makes the workflow easier. It's actually more solid feeling than I would have thought when it's locked in to place. Recommended.

UPDATE: Just bought a second one for the same inexpensive FiFine USB mic. I use the mic on a Manfrotto Magic Arm as well as on a desktop gooseneck and it's just really convenient to be able to switch quickly.

Question & Answer

Question :

I have a shure 55sh series ii mic and the adapter simply doesn't fit. it's too small. are the threads on this model different from other 55s?

Answer :

If by small you mean too shor, then you can inscew the ring on the adapter to make it a bit longer. If by smalll you mean the adapter diameter, then there is nothing i can say. they are supposed to fit, if you purchased in the States.

Question :

I want to use this with a mixer on a mic stand that weights about 8 lbs., do you think this would work ok with such weight?

Answer :

If you mean using this to support 8 lbs., I'd say no. It's great for mics that weigh up to a couple of pounds, but even then, you have to double-check to make sure the push pin locks into place.

Question :

Does it work with the Shure sm7b?

Answer :

Yes, it works with the Shure SM 7B. That is the main vocal mic that I use. I would suggest getting a couple of them, as they are very convenient to use on several mics.

Question :

What size is the adapter with the chrome ring (5/8 male to 5/8 male, 5/8 male to 3/8 male etc.), and does it unscrew? I'll replace it with all black.

Answer :

It's the same size thread as a standard microphone stand top and bottom, it's just an adapter to allow removal of microphone without unscrewing it. I have two that I use with a Shure 55 and Super 55, aka the Elvis Mike, it's chrome, thus chose chrome.

Question :

I want an all black quick-release. Does the 5/8" male to male adapter with the chrome ring unscrew so I can replace it with an all black adapter?

Answer :

Yes, the chromed brass ring screws all the way off, you could burnish it with acid (like bowl cleaner) and spray it black or replace it. I use Latch Lake big mic nuts that come in chrome or black myself, they are awesome!

Question :

Is this clip sturdy enough to hold a small mixer? i have a 10 channel yamaha mixer i want to be able to quick release off my hercules stand.

Answer :

I really can't give you an honest answer on that. All I can say is this is one durable, sturdy and well made product. Good luck.

Question :

Will this hold a blue yeti? And is this the only adapter I'll need?

Answer :

The Blue Yeti is a desktop mic with a pivoting bracket on a desktop base, you wouldn't need a quick change adapter for it. This a quick release adapter is for a mic stand. It is used with or without a mic clip...depending on your mic's method of attachment...to make quick mic changes, usually in the studio.

Question :

Will this fit a Pyle speaker stand? the tubing is 35mm

Answer :

This adapter is for microphone stand type only. It's to small to fit to speaker stand. I don't understand where you get the tubing is 35mm info from.

Question :

Would this work with a ATR2500?

Answer :

The On Stage QK-2B works with all of my standard microphones and stands. I'm pretty sure your mic comes with an appropriate adaptor ( standard to all microphone stands and microphones. It's a great solution to quick mic changes in the studio. I own several.

Question :

Anyone have experience mounting this with a microphone hanging upside down? Some reviews on the black one say it did not hold.

Answer :

No--I haven't suspended an mic upside down, but I think it should be OK. I have often lifted mic stands (standard type, heavy cast iron base) by a gooseneck that was connected to the stand by the clip, and have never had one fail. You should be sure that the button on the side of the male part of the clip is fully extended through the "keyhole" in the side of the female part, though, or you might have some trouble.
