I didn't realize you could get emotions over a headphone adapter. Perfection.

Seriously, don't waste time with the cheaper ones. They're not that much cheaper, but this one is a lot better. I use it with my USB recording interface as a headphone driver, with professional DACs, and this is a really critical piece of the listening experience. Not because the metal conducts the signals better, but because the fit is exquisite. The signal is delivered to both sides of the heaphones perfectly, with no wiggling or bumping. It's also a bit shorter than many others, with a strong knurled barrel that gives you confidence. This is perfect.

My old $6 adapters are now relegated to the gig bag for emergencies. At $9, this one far exceeds anything else I've used. I never thought I could feel so passionately for a headphone adapter.

Only adapter worth buying.

This is the 5th 3.5 mm to 1/4 in adapter I have bought in the last couple of months, 3 from Amazon and 2 from other vendors. This is only one that is actually a 3.5 mm to 1/4 adapter. Each of the other four was not machined well enough to meet the tolerances needed to act as a proper adapter. They would either be slightly off on the 1/4 end or the 3.5 mm end. The end result was that when even the tiniest amount of force was applied, and I'm not even talking about deliberate force, you would get static, lose a channel or both. What I mean by force being applied is stupid random stuff like accidentally nudging a DAC or bumping into the desk.

I just spent the last 30 mins actually trying to get this thing to fail on me by applying force on it and the cable it was attached to in random ways. I got it to pop out of the DAC itself, but the 3.5 mm cable was still attached to it and it had no effect once I plugged it back in.

Yes, this thing costs almost 3 times what the cheap ones do. But, it's a difference of 6-7 dollars. For something that actually works. So, save yourself some time and start with this thing rather than the cheap trash.

Sennheiser 1/4 Adapter, Solid, Durable, and Functional

Yes this is just 1/4 adapter but it is of the quality I expect from Sennheiser. It is simple, but sturdy, well made, and most importantly it works well. I’ve had some cheap adapters in the past that are poorly constructed and temperamental to slight movement where you lose a channel. I decided to spend a few dollars more and get an adapter I know will work. Easy to recommend if this is what you’re looking for.

THE ONLY ADAPTER WORTH BUYING

I’ve gone through literally 10’s of 1/4 adapters in my studios. I use them for my interfaces my amps for recording and playback and all of them HAVE BROKE

Except one. I would buy the cheap 2-3 packs or even the singles here for 5-7 dollars but guys they don’t last.
This is the quality you can expect from sennheiser. Even through abuse and changing chords and removing and putting back in cables it still holds up.

Don’t short change yourself, get this. Seriously I get it is more expensive but when 3 weeks go by and that cheap one you bought doesn’t work anymore you’ll regret not getting this.

farewell 1/4" adapter crackle
Verified Purchase
For decades I've used cheaper 1/4" adapters from Planet Waves, Shure, and many no-name brands. They all suffered from poor contact crackling when the connection is bumped. I thought that was just how it had to be, but finally decided to try this more expensive adapter from Senheiser...lo and behold, the crackle that has plagued my IEMs for years is magically gone!

Worth the extra few $, don't cheap out

Had a cheap generic 1/4" plug that had a loose connection (the 3.5mm end would wobble) and would cause the headphones to cut in and out.

The Sennheiser version is perfectly tight and saves you the headache. The real kicker is that the cheap one I had was only a few dollars less expensive, but it caused so much trouble. Just buy this one and save yourself the pain.

Connects my earphones to my Scarlett 2i2 audio interface

Before buying the superior Sennheiser brand, I bought a cheap eBay knockoff and was sorely disappointed with the sound quality. So glad I tried one more time by getting Sennheiser instead. The sound quality is excellent and crisp. No static or distortion whatsoever.

High Quality, Costs More but Worth It

Ordered a couple cheapo adapter and none of them worked properly. When you instered the headphone jack all the way they'd only play on one side of the headphones unless you jiggled the plug in the jack.

This, on the other hand, works perfectly! Spend the extra $4-5 on this one if you have Sennheiser headphones

The best 1/4" to 3.5mm Adapters I've Found
Verified Purchase
These are the best 1/4" to 3.5mm adapters I've found, they hold tight in my Benchmark DAC and allow the 3.5mm cable to be removed while the adapter to stays put which is what I wanted. If you want the adapter to pull out with the cable the screw-on kind are probably better. They are more expensive, but compared to the equipment / headphones I'm using them with, I would use anything less.

My schiit hel2 came with a 1/4" adapter for my headphones and it immediately gave me intermittent left and right audio when used with my sennheiser p38x.

This immediately resolved the problem and I can bump the connection without fear of losing that sweet spot of good connectivity.

Custom Questions & answers

Question:made in germany?
Answer:Nope, Package said "Made in China"

Question:Will apple-style trrs cables work with this connector, or is it trs only?
Answer:Yeah, it works fine. Fourth ring for mic like on Apple earbuds does not interfere (it's a standard connector). I use my adapter with headphone amp and both styles of headphone connectors.

Question:Will this fit on Sony stereo headphones mdr-v900?
Answer:If your headphone jack is a 3.5mm stereo jack, this adapter will convert it to a 1/4" stereo jack. Just plug it in and your set to rock and roll. Steve

Question:Will this connect to the headphone port on my older Yamaha stereo?
Answer:Depends on a model of your stereo. Most old skool stereos and old/modern receivers use 1/4 jacks so this will work. For example my Onkyo receiver has a 1/4 jack as well.

Question:Is this 1/4 inch male to 3.5mm female - or 1/4 inch female to 3.5mm male ? thanks.
Answer:It's 1/4 inch male to 3.5mm female

Question:Will this fit sennheiser h6 mix?
Answer:As the HD6 MIX uses a screwable connector, you will want the Adapter Kl.6.3/Klb.3.5S gold/blue, screwable (part #558474).

Question:I need something to project music through my guitar amp. Will this work?
Answer:Thank you for your interest.
Yes, because it works like any other 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adapter but the threads that are on the end of our adapters might get in the way of some aux cables.
We prefer the sennheiser adapter because it is gold plated that offers better connectivity and is fully metal which is harder to break than a molded adapter.

Question:Will this work on a Sennheiser HD 558?
Answer:If it has a 3.5mm and if what you are plugging into is a 1/4 inch then everything should work fine.

Question:Is the 1/4” and the 3.5mm sides all TRS?
Answer:Yes, it enlarges the 3.5mm (headphone jack) to 1/4inch

Question:Can this be used to connect my sennheiser hd 205 headphones to a scarlett solo audio interface?
Answer:Thank you for your interest.
A female 3.5mm to male 6.3mm (1/4 inch) adapter would attach to the cable of the headphones and allow you to connect to the audio device however you would need to check the output level of that device to make sure that the audio signal is not too high.
The output level of the device would usually be indicated in Ohms and you would need to make sure that the impedance of the headphones (also measured in Ohms) is a match. If the output is too low for the headphone impedance you would have audio issues (like low volume, limited bass response, etc). If the output is too high for the headphones you could overload the headphones and start to cause audio issues (like distortion, rumbling, etc).
