Make your car look "normal" again.

Perfect for covering that NMO antenna mount because your wife won't stop talking about how the family car looks like a police cruiser, and why can't you have any NORMAL hobbies like watching sports or going out to the bar? Why does everything have to have antennas all over it?

So yeah, works good for that.

Does exactly what a "rain-cap" should do.

First, I've been "doing" radio & electronics both as a hobby and a profession for well over 60 years.

This is a simple little device that does exactly what I needed it for. Briefly, I have a Diamond NMO mount dual band antenna (2M/440) mounted on the cab roof of my Ford F150 "Screw" (super crewcab). Any time I want to run it through the car wash the antenna has to come off, leaving an unprotected NMO mount. For the past 10 years I've used a NMO to 3/8ths threaded adapter to cover the mount, but it isn't sealed against the force of a power car-wash.

When this little thing showed up in one of those Amazon ads when I was ordering something else I said I "HAVE" to try it.

It has a small rubber O-ring seal, fits well It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

If you have 'naked' NMO mounts, get it, it'll keep your connector clean and free of corrosion! What more can I say.

Worth every penny.

This rain cap arrived on time and was adequately packed. Used this on my roof mount antenna and have had no leaks. Used it in torrential rain and 70 mph wind. Installation couldn't be easier. A must for anyone looking to use their roof rack. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

It’s a cap.

Super amazing product. It’s easy to install and WOW! It makes a rain tight seal. So much engineering went into this I bet an Industrial Engineer wrote their thesis paper on its designer and functionality.

Does the job, looks great.

Perfect match to the Tram NMO mount (imagine that). What can I say, it’s a rain cap, keeps the NMO dry and dust free and it looks good. It has an O Ring seal that seats well against the mount. Worth the money to protect your mount and antenna connection.

ordered 3 of them so to cover my trunk mounts ...

ordered 3 of them so to cover my trunk mounts when I remove the antennas for parking in the garage or when out in areas when I wish not to display that I have radios in the vehicle.

Fit as it should and keeps the water out

These are a must to keep around, for sealing against water and other environmental contaminants. Lube the threads with vaseline or dielectric grease. Fit perfectly and works well.

Great weather cap

Item works great. I use it to protect my antenna base when I go thought the automatic car wash. Simply unscrew my antenna from the base and then screw on this cap.

Great covers!

Worked as advertised. Would buy again if needed. Fits NMO mounts securely and prevents water or the elements from eroding your antenna connections when you have to temporarily remove your antennas.

Antenna mount cap.

Fits the NMO antenna mount to seal out water when antenna is removed for car washing. Price a little high but cap fits perfect.

Question & Answer

Question :

Will it fit the tram 269 triple 5" magnet cb antenna mount?

Answer :

No, the 269 is a 3/8-24 thread mount, not an NMO mount.

Question :

Will this rain cap fit the male threads on a Wilson 5000 magnet mount? If not, any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer :

No, a standard Wilson 5000 is not an "NMO" thread. I've seen where you can fill the back/inside of a PL-259 connector with clear silicone caulk, let dry, & that would make a "rain cap" that fits a Wilson Magnetic mount.

Question :

Will this fit a Tram 5 inch magnetic base

Answer :

Nochman, I am not familiar with a Tram 5 inch magnetic base. It would depend on which type of antenna is designed to fit on it. These caps fit on an NMO or Motorolla style antenna fitting. If yours has the 3/8'X20 (if my memory serves) type of threads common with 'CB' type antenna's it will not. Hope this helps.

Question :

3/4" or 3/8" nmo?

Answer :

Hello,
It will fit any standard NMO connector, just as any NMO antenna would.
"3/8 vs 3/4", when referring to an NMO , is the size of the mount's inner mounting hole size, not the finished outside dimension of the NMO connector, which is what this cap & antennas screw onto..

Question :

will this fit a firestik antenna spring?

Answer :

No, that spring is not an NMO thread/mount size product.

Question :

Will this fit any NMO mounts or strictly Tram antennas? Thanks.

Answer :

fits any standard NMO mount

Question :

Is this threaded? If so, male or female?

Answer :

Yes, it is threaded. The threads are female, meant to screw onto the top of your NMO mount. They are fully formed threads, with at least 1/4" of "coverage". A high quality product.

Question :

Will this fit a 2000 Dodge Avenger?

Answer :

This cap will fit any NMO type antenna mount.

Question :

Will this work on the rugged radio antennas?

Answer :

This is just a NMO cap. Replaces screw on antenna. Not sure what a rugged radio antenna is...

Question :

Real novice about this kinda radio stuff. The cap I want needs to fit 1-1/8 Dia x 18 threads. Is that this "3/4" inch cap?

Answer :

The TRAM 1290 NMO Rain Cap is a screw-on cover that fits an NMO Mount when the Antenna is removed. The 3/4 inch dimension that you refer to is the diameter of the hole that the NMO Mount fits in to (co-ax cable side) and it has nothing to do with this screw-on cap. The 1-1/8-18 dimension that you refer to is un-known to me but it is probably the diameter and thread pitch of the NMO Mount for the Antenna side (so yes that is likely the size of the cap).
