Excellent speaker wire for most home use

This wire works great for speakers. While there is confusion and controversy concerning the size of speaker wire, this wire is more than sufficient for most home speaker use. It's 100% copper, as opposed to aluminum merely coated in copper. Unless the distance significantly exceed 30 feet, 16 gauge stranded copper wire should work well in a typical home, as electrical resistance would be minimal. Besides, only large bass speakers require much power anyway. So unless you own big floor speakers, you can be confident this wire will work well for you. For small surround speakers, this wire should work well up to at least 100 feet.

I especially like that this wire is round, white, and flexible, as it blends well with the door frame it's routed around in my home, and was easy to install. It's barely noticeable. My only complaint was the black printing on the wire, which can be wiped away using a paper towel with Goof-Off.

In my own home, I own two pairs of big old floor speakers with large woofers in them (12 & 15"). For those I chose to use heavy 12 gauge wire, but that was unnecessary. Yet I needed less than 50 feet of wire altogether, so the cost was about the same for that as for 100 feet of this wire.

Well made, exactly what what I needed

Very well made pure copper wire with a very heavy duty shielding on the outer jacket and individual wire jackets

I purchased this to make 18 foot runs to my speakers from my high powered rack system.
200 watts per channel calls for 16 gauge pure copper or 14 gauge copper clad.
The black jacket hopefully disappear better along my dark hard wood floors.

The diameter is just under a 1/4 inch, so if drilling a hole for the wire a 1/4 inch bit should suffice.

I am very pleased with this product. It's a little stiff, but very manageable. It bends into corners nicely
and retains memory shape well.
Very good price for pure copper. Shipping was fast

Works well! Box is handy.

Worked fine. My husband said it was thicker than he expected but I think sizes are standard, he just didn’t realize what was needed for outside wire to span the distance we had. Sounds good and like that’s it is white so blends with trim and will be easier to paint if we decide to do so. Box made it handy to use and store extra.

High quality

I bought this to run speaker wire to my outdoor speakers. I was impressed with it, quality all the way though. I have no doubt it will hold up to the elements. Go for it.

Great product! Would purchase again

Wiring worked out great! Needed to use for my new Klipsch 5.1 sound system. I ran wiring from speakers placed around the living room to the amplifier and had zero issues. Wiring maneuvered easily around door frames, window frames, and along baseboards. Great sound quality and no problems with the wiring. I would purchase this product again.

Question & Answer

Question :

what is the cable overall diameter

Answer :

The diameter of the outer jacket is 6.2mm.

Question :

Is there a recommended length, not to exceed, when running 16 gauge?

Answer :

This advice is assuming that you are connecting our speaker wire to 8ohm speakers (which are the norm). We recommend a maximum run length of around 50 feet for our 16 gauge speaker wire. There is 0.5db (or 11%) of signal loss for a 16 gauge speaker wire at 53 feet. Then we would recommend jumping up to our 14 gauge speaker wire once you hit about 55 feet. And the 14 gauge will perform pretty well until about 85-90 feet (signal loss for 14 gauge speaker wire is 0.5db, or 11%, at 87ft). Beyond that you should use 12 gauge.

We would like to note, though, that our wire won't stop working beyond those lengths; we just think staying below 0.5db of signal loss is the sweet spot for performance. If you're on a budget, or if you have one run that's a little longer that 50 feet, you'll probably be okay. The signal just gets weaker the farther beyond 50 feet that you get.

Question :

How flexible is this cable, can it be rolled up and laid out multiple times?

Answer :

Each conductor is composed of 65 individual strands, which makes it pretty flexible. You should be able to coil or roll it up as much as you want with no problem. You may have experience with solid conductor wire, which can be pretty hard to straighten out after bending. High strand count wire is much easier to work with.

Question :

What's the warranty?

Answer :

There is no stated warranty. Since wire never really fails before maybe 20-40 years, I would assume there doesn't need to be one. In the last 50 years of running miles and miles or wire and cable in ALL kinds of environments, I have never seen a wire or cable just fail in a period of time that ANY warranty would cover.

Question :

Can this wire be hook directly to be battery of my truck and ran to my aftermarket stereo system?

Answer :

Not a straight forward answer. The 16 gauge wire has a nominal "rating" of 10 amps and should be fused at 10 amps. Few solid state radios pull that much current, but if you're going to add pre-amps and kickers I would say no, you need heavier conductors. If you're going directly to the battery you need to the parasite loads in mind if you want the truck to start after it's been parked for a while. (How much power does your system draw when turned off, it is NOT zero). Good Luck.

Question :

Do you have 100 feet?

Answer :

We offer 100ft in both white and black. Both of which can be found here . Unfortunately we're currently out of stock until mid-July 2020. If you need something sooner, we have a 250ft length available in our pull-box dispensing system. That can be found here .

Question :

how many volts is this rated for?

Answer :

This cable is rated to 300 volts.

Question :

Is it ok for 24v applications? use for aleko rl1350 rolling dual swing gate opener for gates up to 24 feet long 1400 pounds

Answer :

This cable is suitable for 24 volt applications, and for Aleko swing gate opener control circuits in which the installation manual calls for 2-core cable with a cross-sectional area of 0.75mm . Ensure the cable installation is appropriate for the specific site conditions. We recommend contacting a licensed electrician to certify the installation.

Question :

Where’s it manufactured ?

Answer :

This is manufactured in Vietnam.

Question :

How flexible is this cable, can it be rolled up and laid out multiple times?

Answer :

Yes, it can be flexed/bent multiple times. This speaks wire is 65 strands per conductor specifically to make it more flexible during installation. It's designed to be flexed and rolled/unrolled, in other words.
