What is the wire gauge?

I'm not sure it isn't too big because there's four wires in there and that's not a very big around wire, but I've had mine for a couple years and I've had no problem with it. I have it for a 20-foot cargo trailer for a camera on the rear and it works fine.

Question :

Is this 4-pin extension connector water proof? Do I need to put extra weather sealing tape when left on top of the truck exposed to rain, snow, heat?

Answer :

I would go ahead and water proof that connection. Any moisture in that connection could cause a short and damage the camera. I made sure that my electrical tape was tight, without any bubbles (I had to do it three times till I got it just right).
